2 It is not always possible to do away with negative thinking, but with persistence and practice, one can gain mastery over negative thoughts so that they do not take the upper hand.

5 The real problem with negative self-talk is not that it creates irrational ideas, but that it reinforces the irrational ideas that you already have.
6 overcoming negative self-talk STEP ONE Take Note Healing negative self-talk starts with putting each specific thought on paper so it exists tangibly in the world. This creates a more realistic perspective that allows you to more clearly see the messages that you re up against.
7 overcoming negative self-talk STEP ONE ACTION: Take Note You can start by remembering recent negative self-talk. What were the last five negative messages you overheard yourself saying?
8 overcoming negative self-talk STEP TWO The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Correct the record by writing positive truths that align with every negative selftalk statement you ve recorded. Take power away from negative (and often irrational) beliefs by allowing the truth to shine through.
9 overcoming negative self-talk STEP TWO ACTION: Tell Your Truth For each negative self-talk statement or belief, write a positive truth to balance it out or defeat it.
10 overcoming negative self-talk STEP THREE Get a Divorce Most people have married their emotions with their actions. How they feel and how they act are one in the same. To be successful, you must divorce that mindset.
11 overcoming negative self-talk STEP THREE ACTION: Behave in Alignment With Your Positive Truth Armed with your positive truths, clearly state the action you will take even if how you feel hasn t changed.
12 a few More things to CONSIDER Negative People Audit the people you hang out with because they directly influence your level of positivity or negativity. If people are making more withdrawals then deposits at the bank of YOU, then it s time to close their account.
13 a few More things to CONSIDER Positive Affirmations Saying positive affirmations is a good practice, but it alone will not create the outcomes you want. The enemy of The Resistance is persistence. In other words, take action consistently regardless of how you feel.
14 a few More things to CONSIDER Stop Being a Victim You must be accountable for everything that happens in your life and you must also be accountable for your emotions. Get in the practice of being emotionally powerful. Watch This Video

17 ABOUT THE AUTHOR In 2009 I weighed more than 220 pounds (60 pounds overweight) having just relapsed from a conventional calorie-restriction, exercise-heavy diet. I was a sugar addict and borderline diabetic with high blood pressure. This was the third or fourth struggle (and failure) with trying to lose fat and maintain my progress and I was fed up. Instead of trying yet again, I decided to radically change my approach by challenging the conventional wisdom I was following. I came across a few authors talking about ancestral health, followed their advice and saw great initial success. I was amazed at how easy it was and how great I felt. During my journey, I continued to run into psychological roadblocks and finally was derailed after getting all of the way down to 170 pounds. After another relapse, I decided to reorganize how I was approaching eating based on things I had learned through personal testing, and most importantly I started focusing on the mindset and psychology of the process. After finding the right mix of nutrition and psychology I dropped to 162 pounds (my current weight) and haven t looked back.
