4 January, 22, 2015 Dear Ms. Calderon, I am currently reading a realistic fiction titled, Each Kindness. The is about a little girl named Maya that is bullied by her classmates. I am at the part where Maya comes dressed to school is pretty clothes, but since they were hand me downs, the kids continue to make fun of her. I dislike the way the students in the are treating Maya. Why do they have to be so mean? They have not taken the time to get to know Maya, and I think Maya is a sweet girl. I admire Maya for being brave and still being kind even though her classmates are mean to her. If I were Maya I would probably cry because mean kids would hurt my feelings. Maya reminds me of a time I saw a kid ask to play with a group at recess, and the group told the kid no. I wonder if the teacher will do anything to prevent this bullying from continuing. 5 January, 22, 2015 Dear Ms. Calderon, I am currently reading an autobiography titled, Who Was Louis Braille?. I am at the part where Louis has his accident. Louis was playing with his father s sharp tools and poked himself in the eye. Since there was not a hospital close by, Louis received an infection and became blind. I felt sorry for Louis when he poked his eye. Why would his father leave the tools out? I think his accident is important because I know Louis does something to help the blind. Without this accident, Louis s invention might not have happened. This story made me think of all the times my mom told me to not go in certain cabinets because there were sharp or unsafe objects inside. Bad things can really happen if we are not careful.
