Trust Will Solve All of Your Problems

1 Transcript for the Trust video by Lisa Natoli Hi, I m Lisa Natoli. Thank you so much for joining me! Today, I want to talk about trust. Trust will solve all of your problems. Somebody recently sent me a book that I am so in love with. It s by the author Evelyn Whitell. The book is called Lovingly in the Hands of the Father. She wrote it in the 1930 s. It was published by Unity. I don t know who sent me that book, but I m so grateful with all of my heart that I received it. Last night I was reading the final story in that book. It s a beautiful story about this woman who s running a boarding house. She has all of these people in the house who aren't paying the rent and she owes the rent to the landlord on that day. She received a calendar that she put up on the wall. On the calendar was a quote. Faith in God. Faith in people. Faith in situations. I want to talk about that today, because that really is what A Course in Miracles is talking about. Trust in God. Trust in your brother who is one with you. Trust in the situation. In this beautiful story, the woman realized that she said she had faith in God, but she didn t really. That s how it is with most of us. I want you to really look at that. What is your trust in God like? So often we say it. I trust God. But, it s just words. We don t really trust God. What this woman also realized was that she didn t have faith in the people who were not paying their rent. She had stories and judgments about them. As an experiment, she decided to live faithfully in God, people, and situations.

2 Immediately, her attitude changed. That is the most important miracle that you will ever discover. There is literally no order of difficulty in miracles, because a miracle is a shift in perception. She saw things differently. She saw that she wasn t trusting in God, she wasn t trusting in people, and she wasn t trusting in the situation. The story describes that when she changed her attitude, there was a light in her eyes. She came alive. She started to feel like everything was going to be okay. Everything was okay. There was a check that came. She still didn t have the money to pay the landlord on that day, but she had perfect faith in the situation. She was able to talk to the landlord and to say, I know the money is coming. It did come. I felt inspired to share that story with you today. In the Characteristics of a Teacher of God in A Course in Miracles, there are ten characteristics. Trust is the first one. Trust is the bedrock for all of the work that you are going to do as a miracle worker. I want you to look at that. I want you to really sit quietly and ask yourself, Do I trust God? You need to have trust in something. You might be watching this video thinking, I don t believe in God. That s okay. You need to have a belief in something. You may call it power, presence, life, or intelligence. If you don t even believe in that, I invite you to go outside and stand in nature. Be amazed by the harmony of things. There is a life in you. There is a life in all things. It is that thing that is directing and guiding everything. The reason why we have problems and doubt is because we don t have faith in this power. We think we re alone. Start to have trust in God, trust in life, and trust in this presence and power. Then, you know you re not alone.

3 Trusting in your brother. This is a big one because we say that we trust God, but then we say we don t trust other people. It s the same. It s literally the same thing. You start to really see that you don t trust in the situation either. I remember years ago, I wrote about this next story in my book Gorgeous for God. I had this defining moment where I sincerely asked for a change in my life. I was in Brooklyn. I had been in this publishing company for ten years. I wanted something different and I couldn t find it. I tried applying for other jobs. I finally turned to God, and sincerely said, I am ready for a change. I will do anything. I will go anywhere. Ten days later, I lost my job. That wasn t the change that I was expecting of course. It s so interesting because this is what happens with almost everyone. We ask for change and then something happens. We immediately think, This isn t what I wanted. We had a different idea. We ask for money and then lose our job. Trust in the unfolding of whatever seems to be happening. I asked for change and change came. I kept standing in that place. A Course in Miracles has this beautiful sentence, Infinite patience brings immediate results. I always loved that. To me, infinite patience means to trust that everything is unfolding perfectly. It brings immediate results. It brings the peace that I m looking for. It doesn t take time. I was completely scared back then when I had no money and was living in New York City. I didn t know how I was going to pay my rent. This work takes deep trust. I know I asked for this. I know that I m going to be completely taken care of. I ve had so many situations in my life where I ve had no money and no food. I would sit quietly and think,

4 I m okay. I m really okay. Every single moment that you re in fear or doubt, sit for a moment and ask, Am I trusting? Am I trusting God? Am I trusting my brother who is one with me? Am I trusting this situation? The mind training of ACIM is really training us to see with Christ vision. We see beyond the appearance. I invite you to take the situations in your life and begin to ask yourself if you re trusting. Really see how you re trusting. Then, give yourself a fair trial and experiment with this idea. Know that God is with you. This solves all of your problems. Know that you re not alone. Am I trusting people? We say we do, but really ask yourself honestly and sincerely. Often we think, They don t know. They re not going to be able to figure it out. That s not trust. For me, ACIM is really about an experience and the only way to have it, is directly. Really start to live it. You can t think about this. This is why I always invite people to take a day, week, or month to experiment with this idea of stepping fully into trust. I trust God. I trust that I m being perfectly taken care of. I trust my brother. Whatever is happening, I trust it. Now when I look back on my life, I know that I needed to lose that job. I see the perfection of it now. I couldn t see the perfection of it then. I couldn t see the perfection of it for a year. I didn t have a job for a year. Something like that brings up a lot of fear. This is precisely what the mind training is. It s designed to bring up the buried fear so that we can see it and it can be undone and released. Now, you start to live in a place of joy, wonder, and excitement where everything is a part of a great adventure. You say,

5 Okay. I m here as a light in the world. I ve asked for change. Change is upon me. Woo hoo! Keep allowing yourself to have a foundation of trust built in you where anything that happens now is okay because you trust. You trust in it.
