2 REMEMBER THE TIGHTROPE WALKERS? We use the phrase high performance a lot. It s often used to talk about all sorts of stuff. High performance is doing things at a high level for a long time. We often think about what it is, yet we never stop to think about actual high performers themselves. I m talking literally. Like, look up. One of the coolest things we have in our world are the very people that we ve seen in circuses from a young age. I m talking about tightrope walkers. Remember them? These are the people that would walk across a wire while suspended hundreds of feet in the air. They walk across a tiny, tiny wire and balance themselves at the risk of death. They use those long poles or chairs. They juggle up there or jump rope. They do flips just to mess with us, they pretend to fall and we gasp because we know that, even if they have a net, they could die from a fall that high.

3 2 Now that s high performance. I m a big believer in the qualities that those people have. Think about it. When you re living on the wire, you need to be balanced, you need to be brave, and you need to live your life on the edge so that every decision you make becomes a matter of life and death. It kind of is. Your business and brand should be something that you live and die for. Since it s where your income originates from, it represents the vitality of your soul. It s sad to say, but many fit pros don t see it this way. You have it in you. You can live on the wire too. The qualities that those people have, you have too. You just need to focus on three things to get into that same mindset.

4 3 COURAGE Courage is something that we all talk about, but do we really know what it means? We can all think of examples of courage. There s the courage that firefighters have when they run into burning buildings to save lives. There s also the courage that people have when they share their experiences to a room full of strangers in the hope that they can help just one person s life. Both of those examples are essentially the same thing. It s all about living your authentic self. You have to be your true self and be willing to put yourself out there. When you do, you have to ignore whatever danger you think is heading your way because, you know what? That danger is sometimes all in our heads.

5 4 I often hear things like, What if I put that post up on social media and no one likes it? Hey, listen. If that s the only danger you ll encounter in this life, you have it pretty good. Talk to anyone who s been through a traumatic experience and it will quickly put your fears into perspective. Living with courage means fighting through that fear. It means not really caring what s going to happen and doing it anyway. It means stepping outside of your comfort zone and not letting other people determine your destiny. That s exactly what happened with Ashley Gibson. She s one of our coaches and in her previous life, she was known mainly as a military wife. Don t get me wrong. There s plenty to love and be proud of when you or your loved ones serve in our military, but Ashley wanted something more. She didn t want to be defined solely as a staff sergeant s wife. We all have situations like this. It s easy to go through life just accepting whatever roles and titles people put on us, but courage is exactly what propels you to move beyond the labels. You re a person- a person who has all sorts of gifts and skills that need to be shared with the world. Having courage means taking those gifts and making your world a better place. Ashley could have continued on her path as a military wife, but she wanted more of an identity. She wasn t about to let the fact that she had two kids under the age of two at home stop her from forming her own business. She had a plan, and more importantly, she had the courage to see it through. She stepped out onto the wire and now she s one of our most amazing team members. Remember, courage is important because it inspires. Not only was having courage a very positive thing for Ashley, lo and behold, as soon as she stepped out onto the wire, she found her tribe. Not surprisingly, her tribe was full of other women, just like her, military wives, who connected with her message instantly. Challenge yourself and those around you. Have the courage to step out onto the wire.

6 5 CONVICTION So you step out, now what? Courage puts you out there, but conviction keeps you on the wire. stand for something more. It means not being satisfied and finding that thing that truly drives your heart and mission. Conviction is simply the willingness to I like to think of conviction as drawing the line in the sand and stepping across it. You say to yourself, This is what I stand for and I m never going back!" You have to have principles. You need those ideas or morals or philosophies to create a life that you want. These are the ironclad principles that you re willing to live and die for. We re talking about the most primal beliefs that no one can take from you.

7 6 So many people don t have this. You ve seen them. They wander through life aimlessly. They wonder why success hasn t found them. They re not willing to struggle or grind. They just don t have conviction. People with actual conviction are easy to spot. Their bodies radiate conviction. They re practically glowing. They don t let those other people drag them down. You can t! That s the power of conviction! When I think of conviction, I think of a coach on our team, Kim Dudley. She came from a toxic environment that didn t really need to be. She taught at a school for the deaf! There s really nothing more noble than that, but even in this important job, there were some really nasty negative people. They were all underpaid and unappreciated. Does that sound familiar? She realized that not only was she not making any real money at all, but that negative environment wasn t who she was. It wasn t a part of her. Her convictions were greater than the negativity she encountered every day. So she developed the conviction to get on up and not worry about all the negativity she was finding. She wanted to change her reality. She wanted to make her place in the world. She knew that there was more out there for her so she left. Talk about walking the wire! The conviction has to outweigh the fear. It has to be greater than the worry, the naysayers, and the doubters. I feel like this is where we all need to be. We need to seriously ask ourselves, What do we believe in and what do we stand for?" When you re out on that wire living your dreams, it s not going to be easy. In those difficult times, when you re being challenged to the core, you ll need the strength of your convictions to come out on the other side of it. When we declare our convictions, we stand with each other, side by side, and we go out into the world and make those important changes. That s the real mission we re on. That s why you have to walk the wire.

8 7 COMMITMENT Boy, do we know this one all too well. You know those clients who don t commit to being healthy? They stop and they start. They stop suddenly and then start when they feel like it. There s no rhyme or reason to their commitment. They just do it when they want and randomly quit. How does that work out for them? The pursuit of your dreams isn t any different. When you walk the wire, you have to commit. That commitment is key. I mean, we re talking about your pursuit of success. Do you think it s going to come easy? Do you think it s going to wait for you if you stop and start whenever you feel like it? Of course not! Commitment is what separates the real from the fake. If you re not willing to commit, then you re just a poser. All of this will remain a dream. It s a wish- a hope. Instead of you being in control of what you re

9 8 doing and what s happening with your destiny, a lack of commitment will push and pull you like floating on a river with no goal or destination. Walking the wire means commitment. It means realizing that people are watching you. You re the ambassador for this incredible business opportunity. And it s not a good look when you don t commit. It doesn t speak well of your character or the character of those who surround you. Most people will look for any excuse to get out of working. Just like those people who won t workout, a fit pro who s on my team and has excuses for not committing to the work won t last. That s why I m so amazed with Katy Ursta. Do me a favor. Don t ever make excuses around Katy. She s a cancer survivor. And she s never once used her illness as an excuse to phone in her performance. None of this I m busy or I can t. Katy is a living and breathing testament to the power of commitment. People expect you to give up when times get tough. They even will give you excuses to quit. We ve become so used to being let down that we ve created this culture of lowered expectations. In that exact environment, YOU can excel. You can rise above if you have commitment. You have the power to make your story an integral part of your business. Having commitment is an important aspect of that. It inspires and lays down the law of how things are going to be from here on out. Commitment is what keeps you moving on the wire. It s what propels you to the next thing- that success you ve always dreamed of.

10 9 QUITTING IS THE ENEMY OF SUCCESS Nothing comes easy. Nothing comes without challenges and putting yourself on the wire. To live your most authentic self and thrive is not for everybody, but if you manage to harness those three things: conviction and commitment, courage, you ll come out on the other end as a person that even you won t believe exists. You ll have the ability to outlast anything that comes your way. You ll be able to meet obstacles head-on. You ll approach life s challenges on your terms and with a strength that will be awe-inspiring. You cannot quit. Say that to yourself now- I CANNOT QUIT.

11 10 The world will throw all kinds of excuses at you. Quitting is the enemy of success. By imagining yourself on that wire and walking away from quitting, you ll put yourself on the path of success. Hey, success isn t convenient. It doesn t fall into your lap, but there s a great equalizer in life called choice. You choose what you want for yourself in this world. Are you willing to figure it out? Everything is figureoutable. Embrace courage, conviction, and commitment, and you re embracing the ability to endure anything- I mean ANYTHING. Transform your story and step out on that wire.
