1 1 Nick Read Scripture: Things God never says- Part We continue the Sermon Series this morning called THINGS GOD NEVER SAYS Part 2 We like to start with something funny each week: Joke: I heard about a little boy wanted 100 dollars badly and prayed for two weeks but nothing happened. Then he decided to write a letter to GOD requesting the money. When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to the GOD, they decided to send it to the President. The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $10 dollar bill. The President thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the money and sat down to write a thank-you note to the GOD, which read: Dear GOD, Thank you very much for sending me the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington DC, and as usual, they deducted 90%. Love, Tommy We have a tradition: Grab your Bible and hold it up today: THIS IS MY BIBLE I am what it says I am! I HAVE what it says I Have! I CAN DO what it says I can do! Today I WILL be taught the Word of God, I boldly CONFESS: My Mind is Alert, my Heart is Receptive, I will NEVER be the same, In Jesus name. (Pray) Things GOD NEVER SAYS- Part 2 of 5 week series! Week 1 was God Never says YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN (In fact God Never will I leave you nor forsake you! God gave you a church body for YOU TO ENCOURAGE not to discourage or belittle!- and therefore you would feel their presence in your life to reaffirm that YOU ARE NOT ON YOUR OWN! Amen!? PC shared that GOD is ALWAYS Listening! Even when you don t feel that he is answering the way you thought HE WOULD. Remember that girlfriend in college that you JUST HAD TO HAVE!? Yep, saw her on Facebook 20 years later and thank you JESUS that didn t work out and that HE Said NO! Part 2 today: GOD NEVER SAYS: I wasn t looking! (He never says I didn t just see that )

2 2 CURRENTLY: The media & others are encouraging Police to wear Body Cameras to assure the public that they are treating others fairly and accountable for their actions. Personally: I believe the police should have BODY CAMERAS to protect THEIR CHARACTER from the junk they have to put up with. Police friends of mine are excited to have them so that they can show how poorly they are treated by the same groups calling for the cameras. IN this digital world, nearly everyone has a CAMERA right now (Raise it up)! HOW MUCH MORE CAN GOD SEE ALL! Lol. SO, What if YOU and I HAD A BODY CAM? And All was recorded to share back here on the big screen next Sunday morning with our D.S. here! And IT SHOWED EVERYONE. EXACTLY How you treated your spouse! (Tim Hawkins) Personal foul on the male! There was an eye roll involved! There is a Taunting Foul on the Female. She told the same story 15 TIMES! Penalties offset! Replay 3 rd Down! EXACTLY What you watched on TV! EXACTLY How many scoops of ice cream you put on those 2 pies last Thursday after work when no one was looking! EXACTLY what you looked at this week on youtube! YOU said W H A T when you slammed your fingers in the door??(shake head) What if it EXACTLY how you LIVED EACH MOMENT OUTSIDE OF CHURCH ;-) Would you come back? Would I? Are we living in such a way that we are accountable for our behavior? God Never Says I Wasn t Looking Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Hebrews 4:13-16 NIV God Sees Everything (13a) God sees the container that is your life! All that your body cam would show daily- GOD SEES! I think most of us are like YIKES!!!!!! GOD SEES EVERYTHING!! We tend to First think of all the things we DON T want Him to see! LOL. The contamination of our lives! (sometimes I have you turn to your neighbor and say Jesus saw the that! - not today. ) God not only sees EVERY human action, But He knows every INTENTION of your heart! YIKES AGAIN!!! God Doesn t Blink! He doesn t slumber nor sleep! (How we WISH HE WOULD at times when we blow it in life! ) But let s go the other way a minute! What if Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. is meant to comfort to us that God DOES MERCIFULLY see. GOD SEES when you did the RIGHT THING but the WRONG THING seemed to HAPPEN!

3 3 GOD SAW WHEN: She tore me up on Facebook and I didn t retaliate, now it seems like people all believe her. My ex is so mean to me, and I don t retaliate but I really want to, that s not fair. He cussed me out, and I just walked away. I went and served anyhow even though I was exhausted Illustration I had rough week this week. We had a friend stay a few days with us who was going through a really rough time, at the same time as persevering the same stuff we all have to. I was feeling like GOD, do you SEE! Do you SEE that we are trying to do the best we can but the wrong thing is happening?? AND the TRUTH IS: God DID SEE. But I NEEDED TO CHANGE SOME AREAS before HE could SEE ME THROUGH! (see the difference? Wakeup call) Remember how I said my wife can throw a penalty flag on me and send me to a Time out with Joel Osteen to get blessed!? Well she dropped that this week. Joel talked about Have you emptied out the negative in your life? o Your life is like a container. You were created to hold Joy, Peace, God s blessing. o But what happens when you let your container fill up with other things??? 30% worry- stressed over the job 20% bitterness- mad at a neighbor 20% guilt- beating self up for past mistakes 10% jealousy- that co-worker is more appreciated o 80% FULL OF NEGATIVE and only 20% is available to be FILLED BY GOD. WHO SEES ALL! I had to empty out the negative before GOD COULD SEE ME THRU! SIMPLE TRUTH: GOD SEES 100% of ALL THINGS/ ALL THE TIME! And we WANT TO SEE WHAT GOD SEES TOO! This is key: Do what The Bible says Give no place to the enemy. o Give no place to Guilt o Give no place to worry o Give no place to bitterness Let us not become weary in doing good, (let your container be filled with GOODNESS ONLY ) for at the proper time we will reap a harvest (THAT IS WHAT GOD SEES for us! REAPING a HARVEST! ABUNDANCE!) if we do not give up. Back to the Body Camera. IF YOU HAD that running and ran at nearly 0% negativity!!!!! WHAT KIND OF HIGHLIGHTS WOULD You have???? Highlight Reel In your Marriage! Highlights With your kids! Highlights At your workplace! Hightlights At your highschool! IT WOULD BE HARVEST TIME! Cuz God never said, I wasn t looking because GOD wants us to SEE what HE SEES!

4 4 PC God Sees Everything.and God Ignores Nothing [Nothing in all creation is hidden from God s sight] Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. -Hebrews 4:13 So, now we move from the thought that he sees it, to the fact he doesn t pretend he didn t. God never says I m not looking. (Hands over eyes) He doesn t shield his eyes or turn his head. But sometimes we want him to because we don't want to face the consequences of our poor choices. At family dinners there would always put a bowl of black olives on the table. My Grandma Caskey was often be the one to put the olives there and she would often say "now you kids leave these olives alone until it's time to eat". This, of course was our signal to slink around the table and wait for her back to be turned and then load our fingers up with olives. Now, my Grandpa Caskey would usually be sitting by the table and would see the whole thing. His response was a big grin.a quiet chuckle and a big wink. We knew he thought it was funny. He would make sure we didn't get into any trouble. We would giggle and run off to eat our prize. Sometimes we want God to respond this way. "I know that this decision is not honoring to God, but I really want to do it.so God if you could just WINK at this one.we'll all be good." Grandpa really encouraged this game didn't he? His WINK encouraged us to do it again the next time. God Doesn t Wink - He doesn't want us to sin the first time and He certainly isn't going to encourage us to keep sinning. God knows we are human right?? He certainly can t expect us to be righteous. The best thing God can do for sin is to ignore it. Right? When did ignoring problems become a good idea? Cancer, best move ignore it. Your brother is beating you up, if mom and dad have compassion they should ignore it. Ignoring insufficient funds in your checking account never fixes that mess. Ignoring problems is never, ever a solution. Ignoring violence does not make violence cease pretending we are not addicts does not make us less addicts ignoring marital problems doesn t heal our marriage

5 5 In reality we do not want God to ignore our sins we actually need and can even desire for him to expose our sins. Weeds in the garden - start small, can't ignore them because a small weed becomes a giant weed very quickly. I took this picture years ago. Behind this giant weed is a cross. But you can't really see the cross because the weed was so big it covered it up. In the same way, when we ignore what we might think is a "small sin" in our lives, eventually it will grow and become a giant and it will be hard for you to see Jesus. weed out by the roots!.then celebrate!! You need to pull that And here's the good news. God Gives Mercy for Anything We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. -Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV Rather than shaking our fist at God and saying, why won t you leave me alone, we cling to God and say, God don t leave me alone. That s the really cool part here is that when Jesus sees all that we are and all we do, he doesn t run away, he runs to us. We all long for someone that will know us really well and will still love us. Dating best foot forward when we are married eventually our spouse sees the real us, the proof of love is they grow to love the real us. We don t need a God who ignores our sin when He sees it, we need a God who forgives our sin God Readily Forgives There is no point in playing a game of pretend like God doesn t see. There is no point in asking God to ignore our sin, because that will only make things worse.

6 6 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. PR: As we close: 2 things: 1) COME CLEAN with anything that is contaminating our container so that WE CAN SEE WHAT GOD SEES. 2) If the enemy can t trip you up with your sin, he will try to have someone else come against you with their stuff or hearsay. You know what I mean? Don t let that give you a contaminated spirit - come against it by MAKING ANYTHING RIGHT between you and others (as PC just said, ignoring it never helped the situation ). EVEN now set up a time to meet with them and talk / lend forgiveness / move on in POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. God is good! Let s all pray this out loud together repeat after me Lord Jesus (repeat), forgive me of my sins (repeat), come into my heart (repeat), I make you my Lord and Savior (repeat). Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
