36th Annual Conference Evaluation Survey Comments 1. Choice of Educational Topics Offered - Other responses [No s] 1. Choice of Educational Topics Offered - Comments timely and a broad spectrum of choices. The topics were very helpful in my day to day operations. The brochure only listed class names. It would have been very helpful to have a description of the classes on hand. Great choice of topics offered. Something for everyone. Classes may have been geared toward a certain field but anyone attending learned something. So many great topics! This year had a great variety and the classes/instructors were really good. The topics were great- some classes I didn't get as much out of as I would have hoped. Speakers and trainers were EXCELLENT though! There were lots of topics covered during the Training. Nice variety for people to choose from, but the attendance in each session was low due to the number of classes offered. Understanding that you were trying to give people a variety of topics, speakers seemed a little disappointed for the low turn out in several different sessions I attended. I really liked the fair housing roll play with actors. Brought it all to a better light for me as a Maintenance person. Could of had a better curriculum. For anew person it is good but not the returning ones. 2. Quality of Content and Educational Programs Offered - Other responses active shooter 2. Quality of Content and Educational Programs Offered - Comments all speakers/class instructors were well-prepared, professional and engaging. I was able to take good practices back to the office Very good and knowledgeable speakers. They answered all questions and made the class fun. Tim Hermann is fabulous! Felt the classes were scheduled too long. Some classes didn't last a full hour and I had a lot of down time in The active shooter class, was not to informative of how to set a policy for action. But he did tell some stories and flexed muscles. He would not commit to any hard facts. appeared thinking "I might get sued." if I say something and it fails.. It was a waste of my time. My resume 6 years Department of defense law enforcement and security, surety, medical first respond-er, 400 hours defense of personnel and property training. all of the sessions I attended had great speakers with excellent knowledge of the area in which they were talking about. It was exciting to here from local people and programs in St. Louis. Gave me a new perspective on how we might change up somethings in our area A few of the sessions did not have enough information to fill the time slot and only went half of the allotted time. The first hour was very basic information so I felt the remaining time could have been used to discuss the topics in more depth. 3. Overall Planning and Organization of Conference - Comments Cigarette smell in non-smoking room

One thing that I was a little disappointed with is the vendors that were there. I was really hoping there would be more to get information from. I think that two hours per break out session went a little long for some of the sessions. Would have liked to start the conference earlier in the day on Wednesday, but understand if people travel on Wednesday morning. It did provide an opportunity to do a couple tourist things. Every thing seemed to go on seamlessly. Loved the location and hotel!! Staff was wonderful. Melanie & Kim do an amazing job. I am so impressed with them both. I have loved volunteering with them. They are friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and very engaged in what they are doing. They both deserve extra special kudos for all they do! Would have like to see more vendors. The Rocky/AHMA staff Kim and Melanie do a fabulous job every year with the conference. It seems like most of the planning and organization over the year have fallen on their shoulders. They both have a great attitude to just kept thing up and running smoothly! thank you both for all your hard work! 4. Hotel Conference Space - Comments I loved the hotel! It was such a great experience! The location was amazing! Enough room and comfortable. I liked how the rooms were so close and easy to figure out! Wow! the hotel works with a lot of groups and conferences! they are experts you can tell. I was with Melanie on Tuesday stuffing bags when the hotel coordinator checked in with Melanie. Then the hotel coordinator stopped me on Thursday asking how everything was going well. You can tell they really want your business and would like you to call back! 5. Hotel Accommodations - Comments the hotel staff was not very friendly or accommodating getting me the correct room Seemed nice and clean. There were three in our group and two of us had to get a 2nd room because the one they gave us originally was not ready! My only problem with this was that the hotel garage was full and we had to park several blocks away and the hotel would not validate the parking. This is an extra expense that I don't think should have to be incurred by the members of the conference. Hotel rooms were very nice, well kept housing keeping was very responsive to requests. 6. Quality of Food - Comments I would have foregone registering as a vegetarian had I known they would just give me the side as my lunch - I would have brought food. The lunch was incredible! The food was terrible. The best part of the BBQ was the Olive, cherry tomato & mozzarella ball on a stick. The bread was dry, the meat was cold, the corn was over cooked and cold. The first breakfast was ok but the second breakfast was a disaster as the sandwiches had some kind of Dijon mustard on them and the other breakfast sandwich had bright green stuff on it. The luncheon had vegetables that were so over cooked that you couldn't cut them with a knife and the taste was sour. Cheesecake... SO GOOD egg&ham muffins, with pineapple, watermelon danish rolls, no butter, no milk. Friday breakfast was lame. Lunch on Thursday the salad was to big. With to hard of ingredients it's to rough on travelers bowels. The softer iceberg lettuce, maybe colored by squash onions etc. The dinner on Wednesday was superb! The food was very good. I thought the bbq and luncheon were both well balances meals. I heard some complaints about the meat at lunch being rare but that's how I like it.

7. Hotel Service - Comments Check in and out was a bit slow. Very nice and friendly staff. WOW! I cant say enough about the hotel service and staff. They were absolutely fantastic. They really made you feel welcome The staff at the hotel was so accommodating and nice! Great customer service! Made our conference experience awesome! :) All the staff were very nice from the check in clerk, bell persons, housekeeping, hotel operator, concierge, and all the wait staff! Everyone of the staff seemed happy and wanting to help make your stay as pleasant as possible. They truly went out of there way to make you feel comfortable. 8. Please share any general comments in the space below: - s THE SPEAKER WAS AMAZING. SHE LITERALLY HAD US IN TEARS, GREAT CHOICE. A wonderful opportunity and in my own backyard! Thanks for the opportunity. Sorry that others did not take advantage of the opportunity. The conference was one of the best I have been to. Great job to everyone who made it all come together. The brochure looked very cheaply done and did not provide class descriptions which should have been available. Many of the service coordinator sessions were specific to services in St Louis which is not helpful to those who are from other areas. I don't know what the deal was with the questions asked on the paper at the beginning. The directions said the answers would be one of the states listed. But after researching the answer to the questions they were not only from the states listed. I don't know who won but I would like to know if anyone else had the same problem as I did???? The app and printed schedule didn't always line up. Several times I would open my app and the time for classes would change. I would prefer classes not to start earlier than 9 am. The time zone made it a little harder. I like the classes but would rather more classes offered for an hour long instead of 2 hours. I really enjoyed the Maintenance Roundtable I have been coming to AHMA Conferences for over 7 years now. I have to say - this has been my very favorite one The class selections were great, the teachers were remarkable, and of course, the location was outstanding. And I can not forget to mention - I always love the activities! Job All! I do not know the name of the woman that did the walking tours, but she was an awesome guide. I was only able to go on one of the tours, but it was very informative and my co-worker and I had an excellent time. 9. Do you plan on attending our 37th Annual Conference next year in Denver? - Comments Every other year my property management company sponsors a retreat/conference for our regionals and property managers. Opposite years we attend RockyAHMA. My company will not allow me to travel out of state for a conference that is not given by our corporate offices. Depending on the topics I very much enjoy the annual conferences. It's important for me to keep in touch with others in the industry in other states. I wish the management company I work for work send more people. I will work on them!

10. Is there anything about the conference that stood out for you? If so please share: - The choice of hotel was great, it was a nice facility combination of location, quality of the hotel, hotel amenities, and the conference spaces we were assigned. The conference info/check in table was great, easy to find and the staff were always cheerful and helpful. VENDORS! Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that there would be more vendors. I think they add a lot to the conferences and can provide valuable tools and tips to the managers on the front line. presenters. The food was excellent!! the hotel was very nice!! Saint Louis is a great city. I enjoyed my stay at the conference and was able to see attractions without spending a ton of money I liked that there was an opportunity to do things after the conference day was over so we had the opportunity to network with others in the area/industry. I loved the location of the conference and the hotel. I would be excited to go back again! The sessions this year were better than last year and I thought it was well organized. Thank you for your hard work! I thought the sessions on EIV and Leasing were good. I really enjoyed the round table talk with maintenance. I think we all learned something and we created a great camaraderie. It was a down to earth real meat and potatoes learning session. All ideas were heard and everyone felt welcome. Toni Blake YES! The presentation from Buz Zeman from H.O.P.E (Housing Options Provided For The Elderly). THE OPENING SPEAKER! The treatment of the Hotel staff to me was exquisite. The courses especially the Panel Discussion on Thursday was enlightening for maintenance. Wednesday keynote was fun set the tone for get serious but enjoy this. I especially like that the handouts were available online so we could print them out. The speaker was great. The one thing that I didn't care for was the length's of the breakout sessions. They seemed too long and some of the presenters let out early leaving quite a bit of time in between. It would be nice to have more shorter sessions (1 hour). I liked the auction! St Louis itself was a great city to visit. I don't always like to go to conferences outside of our region but this was a great place to go! It was nice to get perspective from other people in the industry in other regions, other support service providers etc... Thank you. 11. Keynote: Toni Blake "Wings of Change" - Comments She was totally dynamic and fun! great choice! Loved her! A comedienne with knowledge of the industry. An excellent choice for a keynote speaker. Enjoy Toni, have heard her several times, feel she needs to update her material. I feel like I have heard her too much, and the same things.

I didn't see this presentation but I heard it was great. Toni is GREAT! Toni was a great key note speaker, even better than the first time. Loved her topic and her wings, she really was a Best speaker I've heard in a long time. We need to laugh as much as possible to keep from crying. Oh My!! Toni was fabulous!! Her message universal, her speaking style engaging.. and she was FUN!!! I was VERY impressed with her respect and "shout out" to Maintenance Staff.. they ARE Marines!! FIRST time EVER I have ever heard these remarkable and much needed Department publically praised!! Well deserved!!! she is so wonderful!!!!!!! Love Toni! She is very inspirational and I My favorite part! Toni is always a great speaker. It would be nice to have a key note speaker at least for two days of the conference think it is important to help inspire and motivate attendees. I thought it would have been better 12. Wednesday, September 19th Blues and BBQ Reception - Comments It was probably just me. lol Lots of fun!! Food was horrible. very good BBQ! Tender meat did not attend- wanted to explore St Louis! EXQUISITE! SUPERB! A DELIGHTFUL evening of gaiety and reminiscence. To remember my grandmother in her roaring twenties pictures. I experienced not her flapper days, but dapper days. The real truth was "Eras end" like it or not. This was symbolic that another era has ended. We in AHMA will be experiencing the beginning of another era. Like the river boats, fun but outmoded. Get on THE SPEED BOATS! Getyou the high tech. operation mode. The music was supposed to be Blues but it was more Jazz. the two rooms and overall space seemed divided and unorganized. I lost interest right away and did not stay. It was a nice evening. The silent auction was great. The sky the moon everything was perfect. Could have been extended to 10:00 pm to allow for dancing/networking 13. Thursday, September 20th Awards Luncheon - Comments It was exciting to see who the winners would be. Great Steak! I was unable to attend Food was great! lunch was great nice speakers, I felt bad for HUD it's nice when we are in Denver area more HUD personal ca come to the function. But like all other areas of the government today they are hit with hiring Freezes - over worked Please share any ideas you have for entertainment and/or activities at next year's dinner or luncheon. - depending on location/date, maybe a baseball game

15. WEDNESDAY, September 19th: 3:45-5:15pm - Comments Common Mental Health Issues Common Mental Health Issues Human School - "Turning Chaos into Character" The instructor was not organized. The information covered is an important piece of what we do and I don't feel like I went away from the class with any additional knowledge. Issues with slide show and not enough information on how to access service providers that can assist the property manager in Not a huge fan of Toni Blake, she comes on pretty strong fabulous class I wasn't sure I needed human school, but I benefited so much from going to this session. Human School - "Turning Chaos into Character 16. Thursday, September 20th 8:30-10:30am - Comments Awesome!! Speakers were MORE than excellent.. the Cultural Competence LGBTQ information invaluable! Contract Renewals & Renewal Options Preparing for REAC Property Management 101 I was looking forward to this class- the speaker was great but I did not get anything out of it. I just recently started doing these for our company and was looking for more in depth detail. class was only 40 minutes out of 2 hours to ambiguous I knew quite a bit of the material, but the speaker was great for a 101 class. Contract Renewals & Renewal Options Did not have enough info to fill time slot. Very basic info so more in depth information could have been provided in the other half. 17. Thursday, September 20th:10:45am-Noon - Comments LIHTC: Unit & Applicant Eligibility & Certification very impressed Well organized instructor, information was communicated very HUD Back to Basics effectively. Housing Options for the Elderly Buzz Zeman - inspiring!! His passion was obvious to all!!! 18. Thursday, September 20th 1:15-3:15pm - Comments LIHTC: Unit & Applicant Eligibility & Certification I went to the LIHTC one this session, but it's not listed here. Slides could have been bigger so people could see the EIV 101 examples. EIV class could have had more detail on resolving income discrepancies. Refugee Housing/Multicultural Compentence Very open and realistic. TRACS Submissions & Processing Did not have enough information to fill the time slot. 19. Thursday, September 20th 3:30-5:30pm - Comments Active Shooter Active Shooter had some excellent ideas for safety measures to take.

Active Shooter So timely.. speaker was to the point.. did not sugar coat the reality of our current societal major problems.. just explained the facts.. how to protect staff.. no personal/political opinions.. just facts about the real world we know live in. LIHTC: Monitoring & Reporting Compliance & Documentation & Recordkeeping The class was studying for the exam, so it didn't relate to me and documentation wasn't touched on like I had hoped for. I understand that their test is definitely more important, but maybe taking out these sessions and leaving them specifically for test takers so there is not any confusion. 20. Friday, September 21st8:00am-10:00am - Comments i took the SHCM exam on Friday morning Enforcing the Lease HOME Program Another comedian who was able to relate to front line management issues even though he's obviously been in upper management for some time. Great speaker with valuable information. I wish she could have gone more in-depth regarding the program. Enforcing the Lease Enforcing the Lease If the instructors are going to teach multiple classes, it would be nice to have different topics and/or jokes. The classes I took had the same instructor and we got to hear the same jokes and some information over and over. It got a little boring. Slides could have been clearer Tim is an outstanding speaker. He is very knowledgeable, Enforcing the Lease personable and engaging. I would love to see him teach more classes in the future. 21. Friday, September 21st10:15am-12:00pm - Comments i took the SHCM exam on Friday morning Another good session; sorry I had to leave early to catch my Assets Made Easy flight. Dealing with Difficult Residents Instructor did not seem engaged, just up there reading stuff off the computer screen. Information was not well organized. Assets Made Easy Would absolutely love to have him teach more classes in the future. speaker. 22. Please share any topics you would like to see offered at next year's conference. - s Dealing with difficult tenants. I couldn't attend Get back to Multi-Cultural issues home and tax credit program managing. TRACS training, Compliance updates More in-depth regarding HOME or 811 program. Preparation for MOR and Tenant File Organization More of the same with Tim Hermann repair of washers dryers dishwash fridge stove.
