Vol: II Issue II (8 pages) The Project Quick Facts Top 5 things to know about the expressway THE ALIGNMENT of Delhi The alignment of Delhi-Meerut Expresssway will start from Nizamuddin Bridge (T point km 00.00) in Delhi and will continue on the existing NH-24 up to Dansa (Km 30.38) About DASNA From DASNA, there will be a completely new alignment up to Meerut. The alignment will terminate on inner ring road/meerut bypass near Railway crossing (KM 66) at Meerut. RS 2,809.6 CRORE Rs 2,809.6 Crore is the estimated cost to complete three of the project s four packages. The first three packages are Nizamuddin Bridge to UP Border, UP Border to Dasna and Dasna to Hapur. The fourth package will be a new alignment of Delhi Meerut Expressway from Dasna to Meerut and six-lane connector. THE 87 KM PROJECT The 87 Km project besides 9 Km connector will have 6 lane expressway & 4+4 lane highway, service roads, cycle tracks, flyovers elevated sections, major and minor bridges, railway over bridges, vehicular underpasses and pedestrian underpasses HECTARES LAND REQUIRED Hectares is the total land required for three packages, and hectares has already been acquired. Sushma Garg Ar. Arundhati T he month of August unfolded those golden pages of Indian history and independence which were written with the blood of great immortal souls. Along with the rich legacy of freedom, they also left strong messages for humanity, for the nation and for the future generations. These messages are not merely to be acknowledged and remembered, but also to be followed. The month of September united all of us and with the power of broom held strongly, we chanted the mantra Swachh Bharat given by Gandhi. The month of October ushered with the great memories of Babu and rejuvenated us all the whole month. Along with the golden glorious moments of our past, we were also tempted and captivated by our rich culture and heritage of grand festivals. Lost and enthralled with the festive season of lights and sweets, the entire DTC community celebrated Diwali in all hues and colors. Sweets and gifts were distributed and every heart rejoiced to the fu llest.. 2

September we celebrated with the slogan of Swachh Bharat, and October went vibrant with the vibes of Gandhi and Khadi. Gandhi Ji, the immortal voice, cannot be bound to any age, time or place. In every age and each generation of human species, Gandhi Ji and his philosophy acquires a new meaning and dimension and becomes the flavor of that time. In the modern Digital India, Narender Modi has revived the spirit of Gandhi and set new standards. Artist Vivek Shrama has depicted a painting Sons of the soil at the 7th edition of Indian Art Fair displaying the Mahatma showering his blessings on Modi. As a great political and spiritual leader, Gandhi led many nationwide campaigns to set India free from the British rule. Gandhi Ji, during his talks with teachers and students in Birla House, Delhi on 10th December 1947, said, India stand before the world only through imparting education via crafts. Education alone will not serve the purpose in the long run. Like Gandhi, Modi too believes that if India needs to grow at a rapid pace then we should empower our youth with essential skills. He has introduced a completely new ministry, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to fulfill the future goal in this regard. On October 2, 2014, Shri Narender Modi launched the Swachh Bharat mission as a national movement. A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 birth anniversary in Picking up the broom, millions of people joined hands with the mission to clean India. The broom combined all sections of society together in a great national spirit emphasizing once again the feeling of unity and cleanliness. 3

4 Beyond Academics Blood Donation Camp The Community Connect Project is a continuous program of Delhi Technical Campus. Through the project, the Institute, complete with its staff and students, embraces the responsibility towards the community and environment (both ecological and social) in which it operates. It endeavors to make a positive contribution to the society. A wide range of activities are covered in the project such as conducting blood donation drives, providing assistance during disaster, encouraging staff and students to volunteer, supporting worthy social causes etc. To continue positive efforts in this direction, this year also our Institute had organized a Blood Donation camp on 3rd Oct It was the organized by Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (A Project of Rotary Clubs). The camp was organized to help the noble cause of Blood Donation. The Staff and Students were notified in advance and names of the interested donors were taken by the Event Co-ordinators. The camp started at 10:00 a.m in the morning. Our Honorable Chairperson, Mrs. Kiran Sahni served as a source of great encouragement by being the first donor, succeeded by our Honorable Chairman Mr. Vipin Sahni. He also addressed the students about the importance and benefits of blood donation. The faculty members also participated actively in this noble cause. A team of Doctors checked the blood group and Hemoglobin of each and every Donor. All those who donated blood were awarded Certificates and Memento along with the refreshments. The Team of Doctors thanked our Faculty Members and Students for their co-operation and congratulated DTC Family for donating 138 units of blood and making this drive a great success. 4

5 DIWANA- Diwali cum NASA Day Celebration The School of Architecture organized DIWANA- Diwali cum NASA Day Celebration on October 27, The Event started with a warm welcome of Director Architecture, Professor Divay Gupta by Professor Sushma Garg. The motive of Diwana Event was to celebrate NASA Day and Diwali in the department. This event gave opportunity to all architectural students to interact with each other. The concept of event was to make four teams of all years vertically and hold different competitions amongst all teams. The Marking of all competitions was done out of 450 Marks. Teams were divided into houses All students contributed 100 Rupees per head for all competitions and decorations. Refreshments were provided to all participants. Working together in a team and for a team was very much motivational for students. Seniors knew their responsibilities as group Leaders and were able to guide and give inspiration to their Juniors and fellow team members under guidance of their respective Faculties. Cultural events were taken place in Open Air Theatre after 2 PM followed by the winners announcement and ward Ceremony. The overall winning team was Red Hawks. Runner Up was Green Team. Trophies were awarded to teams by Director Architecture Prof. Divay Gupta. On behalf of Department of Architecture, Prof Sushma Garg delivered Vote of thanks at the end of the events. 5

6 Academic Events Industrial Visit to Jaypee Wish Town The Department of Civil Engineering successfully arranged an industrial visit to Jaypee Wish Town an under construction building in Sector 128, Noida on October 7, The purpose of the visit was to help the students understand the real life aspects of construction work and preventive measures taken at the site. The site engineer and supervisor of the project escorted the students to the construction site and shared their views and knowledge with the students. Mr. Akhilesh Singh, head of Shakti Green Project Pvt. Ltd. attended to the queries of the students related to construction work. Further, faculties helped relate the field work with the theoretical aspect of the course work.! Workshop on OrCAD PSPICE The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering successfully conducted a one day workshop on ORCAD Pspice on October 22, The program witnessed enthusiastic and inspiring participation of highly motivated students of ECE, 2nd year. OrCAD is a proprietary software tool suite used primarily for electronic design automation (EDA). The software is used mainly by electronic design engineers to create electronic schematics and electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards. The workshop introduced various types of simulation. DC Analysis Transient Analysis AC Analysis Random Solutions Technical Society An Initiative by ECE Students It s tech time and we need to be with it. With the kind support of Prof (Dr). Pranay Tanwar (Dean academic) and effort of Ms Reena Parihar, Mr.Manoj, Mr.Ravendra and Mr.Kapil, the students of ECE department formed a technical society called Random Solutions. It works under the supervision of Prof. Jitender Pathak (HoD of ECE department) and run by the students of ECE department Mr. Rohit Motwani & Mr. Roshan Kumar. It is mainly dedicated to explore the practical knowledge in field of Electronics, Automation and Robotics. We named it random because we believe that a definite name limits and binds the exploration, and we want to welcome all the ideas of any field. The main purpose behind starting Random Solutions is to help the students to make their dream projects. This will not only help in their academic curriculum, but also enhance their overall skills. Our objective is to spread the knowledge so that as an engineer they can create machines which make life easy. We successfully ended up with our first session based on breadboard projects. The students showed unexpected interest and cooperation. To prove our thought, we are going to organize a science exhibition very soon, and the students will be displaying their projects. In our next session, we will deal with arduino based projects and automation. 6

Research and publications Mr. Sushant Kumar, Assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering participated in The National Conference on Water Resource and Flood Management-2016 (WRFM-2016), which was conducted in association with ISH and organized by SVNIT Surat, on October 14-15, He also presented a research paper on Canal Lining of Madhya Ganga Canal Phase II Bijnor, U.P. at WRFM Paper titled: Performance Analysis of DES Algorithm and RSA Algorithm with Audio Steganography authored by Ankit Gambhir & Dr. Rajeev Arya, Assistant Professor Department of ECE has been accepted for presentation and publication in Springer (AISC). Paper titled: Design and analysis of D latch using 180 nm Technology, authored by Divya Chitkara, Assistant Professor Department of ECE has been accepted for presentation and publication in Springer (AISC). Mr Sushil kumar Gautam, Assistant Professor EEE Department, had been elected as a reviewer for manuscript number RSER-D for Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews. Mr Sushil kumar Gautam, Assistant Professor EEE Department, presented a paper in an International Conference on Separation Technologies in Chemical, Biochemical, Petroleum and Environmental Engineering (TECHNOSPACE-2016) on the topic Power Productivity Enhancement through Weibull Distribution Parameters at MANIT. 7
