They will then present data about these such as bar charts. 3 Art History Changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age NO HISTORY THIS TERM Earliest Civilizations Ancient Egypt Be taught about the civilizations in Britain from the Stone Ages to the Iron Age. Learn how each cultural group adapted and progressed including settlement, weaponry and culture. Study the development from hunter-gatherers to small farming settlements. Learn about the religions and structural creations such as Find out about the political structures of the Egyptians including dynasties and pharaohs (especially Tutankhamen) Learn about the building of the pyramids Research the burial ceremonies and mummification. Learn about the importance of the River Nile Stonehenge. Stone Age and Iron Age Explore texture and colour through making their own cave paintings Explore complementary and opposing colours, including adding black or white to make different shades of colour by making their own flutings (mark believed to be made by prehistoric children) Explore an early form of prehistoric art using carving as a techniques Petroglyphs Rainforest Make observational drawings of rainforest animals using charcoal and pencil, Create their own version of Amazonian artwork, Explore colour and texture by designing their own rainforest leaves using collage techniques to make a class jungle Look at examples of Bridget Riley s art pieces in terms of the patterns, lines, colours and shapes she has used, and use her techniques as a stimulus to produce their own version of a Rainforest animal. Explore collage techniques and the use of 3-d form by making a mini collage in groups. Design and make Egyptian jewellery Make a paper Mache mummy then design and make a sarcophagus adding details with paint and pens. Design a death mask for their mummy model. Design a cartouche on papyrus with hieroglyphics to represent their name.
