2 When you think of Water, where does your mind flow to? Water and all its mysteries brings me so much pleasure and sensuous delight. Our first experience as tiny beings are swimming in the watery womb as we form into the beautiful creatures that we are. What miracles water truly holds. Millenniums ago, heat in the interior of the young earth drove oxygen and hydrogen atoms out of combination inside the rocks in which they were contained. The newly formed molecules came to the surface in streams of lava and were then released as water vapor. Great clouds formed that rained once the earth had cooled and covered it with seas. So what are now oceans were once our rocks. These oceans cover 71 per cent of the earth's surface. The vast majority of the water on earth - over 97 per cent - is contained in the oceans.

3 Around 70 per cent of the human body is made up of water. Brain and muscle tissues are water-richest, bone and fat water-poorest. Water also performs the role of solvent and conductor essential to the metabolic performance of the human being. Every day our bodies turn over 2.5 liters of water, losing most of this by respiration, perspiration, and excretion, and replacing the shortfall by the combustion of food and drink. Without the body's natural cooling process - in which water is essential. I have always found it fascinating the many ways, forms and shapes this element can take on. There is Liquid, frozen and steam. All three forms hold mysteries to me and also delight my senses at the same time. Water is extremely sensuous and I have always been drawn to this element. Maybe it is because

4 it is my birth element and being a Cancer born on Summer Solstice. Let me give you a little taste of how I enjoy the essence of water. 1. LIQUID WATER Washing Dishes- I know how much I use to dread washing a sink of dishes until one day when I was chilled I realized how amazing it felt on my hands. Taking moments to feel the way the warmth cradled in between my fingers, the way the warm water ran down my hand to my elbow and taking moments to cup my hands all the way in the water and bring my hands out feeling the water drain between my fingers. I can honestly say, I love doing dishes and experiencing the same joy and sensuous experience over and over. 2. FROZEN WATER

5 Snow- As Heavenly sprinkles of snowflakes fall from the sky, I become a child again. I can t help it. I always look up, giggle in delight, throw my hands up in the air and feel each flake on my face and hands as though it was the first time. I then start my calling order, my parents first (do you have snow falling at your house) then my husband and lastly my daughter. It s a ritual and as it starts accumulating I always add on more inches than what is called for. It reminds me of magical crystals. How amazing that not one flake is ever the same as another. I love how I can use my feet and hands to mold shapes and create my own winter wonderland. The evenings then take on a different ambiance. The sensuous erotic Woman part of me comes to life. The romance of being warmed by a fire while lying in bed with my Man. As I lay next to him usually with my head on his chest or him holding

6 me, my body breathes deeper as I feel the warmth from his skin. He is usually exhausted and tired from a full day of work and then coming home and spending hours to plow a good amount of snow. He is asleep but the sensuousness of weaving all these thoughts together is so juicy and calming. 3. FROZEN WATER Ice- How people once lived without ice I can t comprehend. Truly, I can t. I love the sound of taking my glass to the refrigerator door and hearing the ping of ice dropping into my glass. I then take seltzer water and pour it over the ice listening to the fizz as it touches the ice. My mouth is watering as I add fresh mint, lemon balm or even violets or lavender to my water. In the heat of a Southern day I will get a bucket and pour ice cubes into my container and sit outside under my canopy and cool off by taking a piece of ice and

7 rubbing it on my heated skin. It feels like an instant luxurious cool down as I watch and count the seconds it turns into pure water droplets on my skin. Then sensuous practice not only feels good it also keeps you hydrated. Your skin soaks up most of the water through its pores. 4. WATER STEAM When I think of the Sensuousness of Steam so many situations in all their yumminess comes to mind. I will share a few. Cooking and the sense of smell is intoxicating. It reminds me of my Mama s and my Grandmas. Sometimes I will cook that one thing that takes me back in comfort and lift the lid and inhale so deeply. Steam is also a beauty treatment I use for my face to open and detox the pours with herbs and essential oils. I also appreciate steam for the medicinal uses it provides. Eucalyptus infused in steam cupped to your nose

8 and breathed in is a great way to stop coughs, release congestion and open up your chest and sinuses. Isn t it amazing all the uses water in all its forms can bring to our sensuous nature.
