2 DELVING DEEPER by Timothy Hume Behrendt, SNP Coordinator/Minister/Counselor It is such a privilege to be the coordinator and one of the over-seeing board members of SNP. Growing up, I saw beautiful wet-lands all around my home area being overtaken by roads, building and more and more industrial pollution. This affected the quality of water that went into Lake Erie, which suffered with wide and deep contamination. So thank you to you all who support a healthy, active planet. And thank you for helping us do our part. 3 Recent Craft Workshops To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. Thomas Edison Pegs Eco Art table for the Sea Glass Festival at the Barrier Island Sanctuary was attended by dozens of children & adults who created original art on cardboard recycled from cereal and other boxes. RAISING CHILDREN The greatest influence on your child is your living model of who you are, not just in words, but in example.

4 PROTECT YOUR BRAIN Kale, collard greens, spinach and broccoli are good sources of vitamin E and folate which protect the brain perhaps by lowering levels of the amino acid homocysterine. Martha Morris, Director, Dept of Internal Medicine, Rush Univ, Chicago, Ill Friends, Brad & Susie Baker took us to the interesting, lovely and peaceful Kashi Village in Sebastian, an Interfaith community with a focus on Yoga. I liked the sharing attitude of the Bug Hotel in their garden. This board walk thru the marsh to the river has names of all the supporters carved in the boards.

5 THE SECRET TO LONGEVITY There is no secret to longevity! Take good care of yourself in a holistic way: food, liquid, rest, exercise, pleasant being-ness. It s no secret; just hard to do at times. THB My sojourn with the Peace Corps was the greatest rite of passage I ever experienced. It took me out of the library into a living classroom, where I learned the value of being among people of a culture different from mine, speaking their language, appreciating their customs. They in turn welcomed me and showed me uncommon generosity, warmth and respect. It was a unique education that taught me how much we have in common as human beings. WORTH SAVORING From Tim s forthcoming book Small kindnesses have large lasting impressions. Kindness and truth are the world s greatest empowerments. There is no greater investment anywhere, anytime by anybody than in kindness. Strength weakens without kindness.
