2 Autumn Term1 New Beginnings To lead children towards an understanding of a fresh start and the importance of feeling welcome, cared for and valued. To be familiar with stories from the Bible that illustrate the causes and consequences of anger. To understand God s forgiveness Spring Term 1 Going for Goals To understand that through effort and perseverance, any goal is within reach. To appreciate the importance of resisting personal distractions in order to reach a goal (Wise Men). To recognise that God has a bigger plan for all of us than we are sometimes aware of. importance of preparation and focus in achieving goals (Lent). Spring Term2 Good to be Me To appreciate that we are all special and unique and that the way we behave can make us feel good about being us. To develop an understanding of self awareness through a range of Bible stories (Joseph, The Lost Sheep, John the Baptist, Zacchaeus, Peter s Denial, The Road to Emmaus). To encourage children to set personal goals and to review their progress towards them. To understand that we are all special in God s eyes. To understand that all experiences shape our lives in some way. Summer Term 1 Relationships To appreciate the value of working at relationships to make them stronger. To encourage reflection and self awareness through discussion and empathy. importance of self awareness and reflection. To learn how Jesus taught us to be humble in thought and deed. 6 Collective Worship Worship takes place at the following times: Monday 10.00am Whole school worship led by HT / DHT Tuesday 2.25pm Hymn Practice staff rota Wednesday 10.00am Class Worship led by each class in turn Thursday 9.00am St Anne s Church led by clergy / staff Friday 2.25pm Good News Assembly led by Headteacher during which individual and class achievement is celebrated leading to increased self esteem and appreciation of each others skills and talents A daily act of collective worship is a statutory requirement of our children s education, please ensure that Class Worship includes all the elements of an act of worship a focus, a story or reference to SMSC issues, a time to reflect / prayer.
