This retrograde starts when he is in Taurus; a sign associated with our values, possessions, sensory experiences, and loyalty. Over the course of the retrograde, he will backtrack through the sky returning to go-getter, driven, impulsive, impatient Aries; moving forward again on May 3. At a practical level, this means the kinds of communication this Mercury retrograde will be impacting is thematically related to Taurus and Aries. We may find ourselves challenged to communicate our wants and needs at this time and we are also called to re-think and reflect on what we love, value, and how we do or do not communicate that effectively. As he will also be backtracking through, Aries, we can use this time to think about how effectively we communicate about the things we need/want to do. One of the things that any retrograde can do for us is it offers up a second chance. Were you too hasty with your communication before, and that led to misunderstandings? The gift of the retrograde is you get to say it again to clarify. There are pitfalls with a retrograde for sure, and things to do to prepare like backing up computers and files beforehand. And it is also an opportunity to say things again that we may not have gotten right the first time. To re-write, re-think, re-communicate. There is an aspect of Mercury that is the trickster, so try not to get caught in fear of what the retrograde might be, that surely will bring the trickster out to play.
