1 AAWA-ASSOCIATION No 9 - Year 1 April EU Provides Reasons for Designating the MKO AFP - April 20, 2007 EU Provides Reasons for Designating the MKO AFP, April 20, 2007 The European Union will send letters to groups and individuals on its terror register to explain why they are listed, EU diplomats said Friday. The decision, to be adopted Monday by EU foreign ministers, was made in the wake of a ruling last year by Europe's secondhighest court annulling a freeze on the assets of the main Iranian opposition group in exile. The Court of First Instance ruled that the EU had not respected the right to a fair hearing of the People's Mujahedeen of Iran (OMPI), when it ordered the asset freeze in May One diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the EU's reasoning will be posted in its official journal for the groups and individuals for whom it has no address. Those listed have 30 days "to present their arguments" against the decision. The terror register lists more than 50 organisations and individuals, including the armed Basque separatist group ETA, Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers and the Islamist group Hamas. It is supposed to be revised every six months but this has not happened because of uncertainty caused by the court ruling. An asset freeze is imposed on those who figure on the list. The EU has already written to OMPI, recalling "the organisation's past, notably the attacks that it has been responsible for", the diplomat said. Comment The AAWA Association publishes with this edition its chief English-language monthly " AAWA Brief ". The " AAWA Brief" comprises excellent articles and opinions of Iranian and foreign experts over the organization Volksmojahedin Iran. NCRI and MKO try to overthrow the Iranian regime and they believe in armed struggle to achieve this. NCRI is the political arm of MKO across the world. Before the US invasion to Iraq, MKO was considered the strongest opposition with a military might, which conducted operations in Iran from Iraq. In this regard, its military arm "NLA" (National Liberation Army) in Iraq was responsible for many terrorist operations inside Iran. The commander of NLA is Massoud Rajavi, husband of Maryam Rajavi. After the fall of Iraqi 2, In December 2006, a court of the EU nullified a previous ruling (according to which the MKO was designated) and claimed that official procedures had not been observed. However, the court didn't discuss the question whether MKO was terrorist. The ruling of the court is not applicable yet. There's no separation between MKO and NCRI in Germany. MKO has been isolated by Iranian exile groups since the MKO claims to be the only Iranian exile groups since the MKO claims to be the only "democratic alternative" for the Iranian regime. In fact, the group is far from being democratic. Disciplined hierarchical structure and cult-like leadership like that of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi proves this issue. The 2006 report of Bayern's Protection Office on the MKO and NCRI (pp ): NCRI is a group of Iranian opposition groups and individuals. In August 1993, NCRI formed a parliament in exile and elected Maryam Rajavi as Iran's future president. MKO-tied groups that work in Western countries are, among other things, tasked with propagandistic efforts and raising money for the group. regime in April 2003, NLA agreed to a ceasefire with American forces, according to which 4000 MKO members in Camp Ashraf were disarmed and put under Americans' supervision. Meanwhile, MKO members have been given the status of protected people under 4th Geneva Convention. MKO, and not NCRI, was added to the list of terrorist organizations by the EU on May "democratic alternative" for the Iranian regime. In fact, the group is far from being democratic. Disciplined hierarchical structure and cultlike leadership like that of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi proves this issue. The group has not performed terrorist operations since the time it was surrounded in Camp Ashraf. There has been no clear sign of quitting of violence by the MKO or NCRI. In the meetings, they discuss issues like "human rights violations in Iran, protesting to Iranian nuclear program, protesting to Iranian President Ahmedinejad as well as demanding the removal of MKO's name from EU's terror list." Such meetings are mostly held in Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Geneva. After the election of Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, Iranian nuclear program, along with human rights violations in Iran, was added to the agenda of MKO. Rajavi pointed to the significant role of Camp Ashraf residents. Following Nuri Al-Maliki's comments on dismantling the group, MKO supporters rallied daily in front of UN headquarters in Geneva. In the case MKO's camp is dismantled, the group would feel weakness in its fight against Iranian regime. (a tipical demonstration by MKO and it's backers) The group's financial activities under cover names by its "Menschenrechtsverein für Migranten": Association of Human Rights for Refugees from Achen. These groups across Germany raise money for the group. The centers of MKO's financial activities are in Berlin, Hamburg and Nordrhein- Westfalen. Also in Bayern, there are activities like going door to door for collecting money. MKO and NCRI are trying to encourage politicians to support their policies or to take them to their meetings in order to pretend to be a democratic and freedomseeking group. MKO, and not NCRI, was added to the list of terrorist organizations by the EU on May 2, In December 2006, a court of the EU nullified a previous ruling (according to which the MKO was designated) and claimed that official procedures had not been observed. However, the court didn't discuss the question whether MKO was terrorist. The ruling of the court is not applicable yet. NCRI demands UN Security Council's sanctions against Iran. They also claim that current situation is a result of the West's policies. National Council of Resistance has also asked for the removal of MKO's name from terror lists in the US and EU. In July 2006, they held a big rally called "Time for change with Maryam Rajavi", in which Maryam supporters have been intensified. "Menschenrechtszemtrum für E- xiliranerinnen (MEI)": Center of Human Rights for Iranians from Düsseldorf.
4 S EITE 4 Anne Singleton exposing Rajavi cult (Mojahedin Khalq Terorist Organisation) on GMTV In England LK Today program on GMTV (England), March 2007 link to the video file: mod=view&id=2011 The interviewer: my next guest is a married mother, she comes from Leeds and she is from a white middle class British family. She probably is not somebody who in the first view is expected to have gone to a military base to receive military training that's exactly what happened to Ann Singleton after being brainwashed by an extremist group and she joins me today. It's really good to see you, Ann. I can't believe how your life has changed so much that you left the life you liked and the road you were supposed to travel and now you have again a different life. Its extraordinary, isn't it? How did you get involved with the group at the first place? Singleton: in the late 1970's I went to a college in Manchester University to study English. I had an Iranian boy friend. It was just after the revolution. There were a lot of activities going on. In fact, 1979 was completely a political year and Margaret Tacher has just been elected. So I joined the students' union in the university and there were groups of students from every corner of the world almost talking politics. But the only group that really seemed to be active, actually doing things like calling for demonstrations and meetings were the Mujahedin. I guess because I had already an introduction through my boy friend, I joined them. Interviewer: And thus it was the beginning but they were apparently a sinister group, almost it was a cult. Wasn t it? They did brainwash you? Didn t they? Singleton: It was really a cult. Something I didn t find out until I left the group. Interviewer: Right. You do know in such groups the process happens so gradually and slowly. They are very clever. They became manipulative people. Singleton: exactly, very manipulative. The individuals were completely unaware of what the cult did with him or her. At first you think they are very sincere and self scarifying people but actually they model a kind of special behavior to you which you get drawn into that kind of behavior that you start to mirror and take it on They told that a member of the group should never marry and they forced the married members to divorce their spouses. yourself. Interviewer: you told me before that you became active here and showed some videos to me, by the way you entered the group but according to what you said you went abroad for their work? How did you do that? Singleton: they took me to a stage that I voluntarily, with pure eagerness prepared myself to go to their military training camps in Iraq. Interviewer: what was their training program? I mean what did they teach you? Singleton (while her photo with military uniform is shown): in fact we were about 50 people went to Iraq. Men and women
5 N O 9 - YEAR 1 S EITE 5 what was their training program? I mean what did they teach you? were separated. We went to a place where was clearly obvious that was an Iraqi military base. They started to train us with basic, normal military training including collective system, individual attack and defense, driving trucks and getting familiar with Kalashnikov. Interviewer: did they tell you for what purpose or objective all these trainings were? You told that they showed videos on people who were receiving military training in Iraq, however what was their purpose, had they ever declared this purpose? Singleton: it's now unbelievable even for myself. By the way it was clear to me that the final stage is a military invasion to Iran. This was something that was determined. At that time I was so inspired by their inspirations that I was completely delivered myself to them and followed them, I was ready to fight for them. Interviewer: how did you leave the group? Because many people can't do this. Singleton: it was extremely difficult. It was the most difficult work I have ever done. In 1993, I escaped from their safe house in London because I couldn t respond their illogic demands any more. They told that a member of the group should never marry and they forced the married members to divorce their spouses. At that time I was single and had no kids but I thought that I couldn t accept this idea. I left them in 1993 but it lasted three more years until I could cut all my psychological and affectional relations with them and they always tried to get Singleton: It was really a cult. Something I didn t find out until I left the group. they took me to a stage that I voluntarily, with pure eagerness prepared myself to go to their military training camps in Iraq. me back. But even when I had no contact with, it lasted three or four years with research I did on cults and getting familiar with mind control methods and manipulative work on individualists I found out that I was quiet under their control. Interviewer: it's very curious and extraordinary. The problem is that you were a normal, educated person, you might have been a little naive but if they could have such a control over you, I suppose Anne Singleton we have to be concerned about everyone in the world, who may be even more vulnerable than you. It's so horrible, isn t it? Singleton: yes, absolutely it is. I hope that my experience works as a warning for any other person. Every body, in a point of time during the life may be vulnerable from an aspect. In case of rights, for example about business there are rules that support the customer against the deceiving salesperson, but there is no support for those who are deceived by people like Mujahedin and are recruited by a destructive cult. Interviewer: yes that s right and even some people substantially fear doing anything and getting involved in quarrel. They are afraid of some issues for example being accused to supporting racism. By the way, it should be considered that such people do anything to achieve their goal. Now that you have a little boy, isn't there any danger from their part because you talk against them? since you got married and rebuilt your life. Don't you fear to talk about them so openly and prevent people from joining them? Singleton: I personally don t feel dangerous from MKO but they have tried a lot, by various ways to stop me. Many of former members

Interviewer: by the way you could really rebuild your life. You are definitely very concerned bout those who couldn t do this. Singleton: I am at present time, managing a website and my objective to launch this website is that I can denounce the reality of the organization and what its real nature is. This organization has got a modern pro-western gesture that is apparently very democratic and advocating human rights. But I know that the members of the organization don t enjoy even the least of human rights. The global statement of human rights includes 30 articles. Even one of those articles isn t applied for members of a cult like Mujahedin. I'm really interested in rescuing the members of MKO and taking them out of the cult and also I'd like to prevent new individuals from being recruited by the cult. Interviewer: its exactly so since unfortunately now the situation is much worse than the time you were recruited by them. I appreciate you because you shared such information us with. And also it is very important that this information with more details be reflected in your website since they're very crucial. Iran-Sabz Association - Open Letter to the Iraqi President Mr Jalal Talebani. Iran-Sabz, April 15, 2007 Dear-MrTalebani, President of the Republic of Iraq We would like to draw your attention to the fact that after 4 years from the time of disarmament of the Rajavi cult in your country, around 3000 members of the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (MKO) are still being kept in a camp near Khales, (Diyali Province) called ASHRAF. Many of these people, who are considered as the body of this cultish organisation, have themselves experienced the physical and mental torture imposed on the members by the leaders of the cult. Due to the cult practices, these people have been denied their basic human rights including the right to have contact with the outside world and/or their family members. As you yourself, even in the time of Saddam Hussein's rule, used to emphasise, "The account of the leaders of the Mojahedin Khalq should be separated from the ordinary members of the cult". We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that out of 800 people who have managed to escape the cult about 200 are still kept in the adjacent camp called TIPF. Although the disaffected members have clearly denounced violence and terrorism, their faiths still not clear. Dear Mr President, Sabz Association was established by some exmembers and ex-officials of the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (Rajavi cult) who now reside in European countries. One of our aims is to help our friends who have been taken hostage by the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (Rajavi Cult).

Our aim is to help these people to integrate back into society and start a new normal life away from the cult and violence. Dear Sir, A family of one of these hostages has recently revealed that during his contact with the US army, who along side Bulgarian forces are protecting the existence of the Mojahedin terrorist group in Iraq (the family has been trying to contact their loved one for the past decade), unfortunately the US personnel in charge (in Ashraf camp) has asked the family to directly contact the Mojahedin safe houses in Europe and ask permission from them to visit their loved one. (The written document is available and can be produced upon request). The family have taken the matter to the American Embassy in their country of residence and have officially protested the suggestion of contacting a proscribed terrorist Dear Mr President, Jalal Talebani expectation from the coalition forces. You are aware that the desperate families of these captives before having any hope of help from the American army are looking for help from their Iraqi brothers. Dear Mr Talebani, We urge you to intervene to end this harsh bizarre situation according to conditions set out by the Fourth Geneva Convention (under which the US claims to be holding the captured individuals) to guarantee the expected access of the families to Four years after the fall of Saddam Hussein and the establishment of the democratically elected government of, it is questionable why the demand of these families to have access to their loved ones is being ignored. organisation in Europe. The American embassy has declined to answer any further questions upon receiving a copy of the document. Similar situations have been reported by other families residing in European and North American countries. We would be grateful if you would nominate someone for further investigation into this matter, in which case we would be more than happy to put the officials in contact with the families and related documents. Dear Mr President, Four years after the fall of Saddam Hussein and the establishment of the democratically elected government of, it is questionable why the demand of these families to have access to their loved ones is being ignored. You are of course aware that history will judge the willing coalition led by United State of America in a completely different way than judging your good self and your elected Iraqi government. And you are of course aware that the expectation of the people in the region from you and your government is different from their their loved ones without the presence of the leaders of the Mojahedin cult, outside the perimeters of Camp ASHRAF, as even in the very exceptional occasions where there has been a brief meeting between the detainees and their families, the Mojahedin leader have been present and the individuals are visibly afraid of talking openly and privately with their families.
