5 Computer Acceptable Use Policy Claiborne Christian School provides a full range of electronic devices, including laptops and desktop computers to both students and faculty. We strongly believe in the educational value of such electronic devices and recognize their potential in support of our curriculum and student learning goals of our school. Our goal is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. Claiborne Christian School will make every effort to protect its students and teachers from any misuses or abuses because of their experiences provided by computer use. However, all users must be continuously on guard to avoid inappropriate and illegal interaction with resources provided by technology. Computing devices are available in all classrooms, in our library, in our computer labs, and from our mobile wireless lab. Access to CCS computing devices is provided to all students who have signed this agreement. Please read this document carefully. When signed by you and your parent/guardian, it becomes a legally binding contract. We must have your signature and that of your parent/guardian before you will be allowed to use any computing device at our school. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE 1. Personal Privacy and Safety a. Users will not reveal any personal contact information about themselves or any other person on the Internet. b. Users will not agree to meet with someone they have met on the Internet without appropriate approval. Inappropriate contacts should be reported to school authorities immediately. 2. Illegal Activities a. Users will not transmit any material or engage in any activities in violation of any national, state, or local regulations. b. Users will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any network resources including (but not limited to) computer systems and other users accounts or files. c. Users will not attempt to disrupt the network or network resources or destroy data by spreading computer viruses or worms or by any other means. d. Users will not attempt to impersonate another individual using network resources for any reason. 3. Security a. Users will immediately notify system administrators if a possible security problem is identified. However, purposely looking for security problems may be considered an illegal attempt to gain access. b. Users will only use storage media (disks, CDs, pen drives, etc.) that have been scanned and found to be free of viruses. c. Users will not attach any device to the network without prior approval by the system administrators. d. Users should be aware that all network traffic (including Internet usage and ) is regularly monitored for inappropriate use. e. Any user identified as a security risk or having a history of problems with other computer systems may be denied access to network resources. 4. Network Resources a. Users will only use network resources in support of the educational goals and objectives of CCS. b. Users will not intentionally waste network bandwidth (listening to online radio stations, viewing streaming video, downloading large files, etc.). c. Users will not use network resources for commercial purposes. d. Users will not use obscene, profane, lewd, vulgar, rude, inflammatory, threatening, or disrespectful language in network communications. This includes personally attacking or harassing another person.

6 e. Users will not display, download, or transmit any inappropriate materials (including offensive messages, images, and videos). f. E- mail accounts are for employees only. Students will not be assigned accounts unless it is for a special classroom project or Louisiana Virtual School subjects. g. Users will not send or forward chain letters or send annoying or unnecessary messages. h. Users will not send mass or spam any users (internal or external) with unauthorized communications or solicitations. i. Users will respect copyrighted material and other intellectual property. Users may not duplicate or distribute electronic resources without the appropriate permissions, documentations, or citations. 5. Software a. Users will not download, store, or install any unapproved or unlicensed software on school system computers. b. Users will not install any unauthorized or unlicensed school system software on their personal/home computers. 6. Content Filtering a. Precautions have been taken to eliminate inappropriate content. However, it is impossible to restrict access to all inappropriate content. b. Users will immediately report to school authorities any website they access that contains inappropriate content. c. Users will not attempt to bypass the district s content filters to view inappropriate content. 7. Consequences of Inappropriate Use a. The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use may result in the temporary or permanent cancellation of that privilege and/or other disciplinary action (including suspension, expulsion, or legal action) as deemed appropriate by administration, faculty, and staff. b. Note that no information on the network (including and personal files) is guaranteed to be private. Information relating to or in support of illegal activities must be reported to the authorities. c. Inappropriate use of the network may result in legal action and/or prosecution, and may require restitution for costs associated with system restoration, hardware, or software costs. d. Users bringing illegal and/or inappropriate materials onto the network will be subject to disciplinary action. Student s Signature Parent s Signature

7 Statement of Beliefs The Bible - We believe that the entire Bible is the verbal inspiration of God. Through the providence of God, the Word of God has been protected and preserved, and is the only infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1: God - We believe that there is only one true, living, sovereign, holy, and eternally existent God. He exists in three co- equal persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- each being a distinct person. Each has a distinct function, but they are all of one essence and possess the same nature, perfection, and attributes. The triune God is the creator and sustainer of all things, the source of all truth, and is worthy of worship, confidence, and obedience. Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Genesis 1:31 Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ is God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, shed His blood on the cross to pay the debt for our sins, was buried, bodily resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of the Father. He will return literally, visibly, and personally in glory and power. John 1:1-3, 14; Matthew 1:18-25; Philippians 2:5-9; Colossians 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Acts 1:11 Holy Spirit - We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, co- equal with God and co- existent with the Father and the Son. We believe in the dynamic and personal work of the Holy Spirit in the life of an individual. This includes the concepts of a present day, active, and intimate relationship with God, which enables for service and endures with the ability for successful, everyday living. John 14:16-19; 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Romans 8:9, 11; Titus 3:5 Mankind - We believe that in the beginning God created mankind in His image. Mankind was originally created with the ability to live perfectly for God's glory. Genesis 1:27, 31 Sin - We believe that Adam, the first man, sinned by disobedience. This act resulted in the fall of all mankind; therefore all people have sinned and lost their ability to live for the glory of God. Every person's sin incurs both physical and spiritual death until there is forgiveness and salvation by the grace of God. Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 3:10-23; 5:12-21; 6:23 Salvation - We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is a free gift from God's grace apart from human works, based solely upon Christ's vicarious and atoning death, effected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and received only through faith in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection from death. Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Corinthians 5:21 Transformation - We believe that the Lord expects us to grow in our relationship with Him after salvation. Believers are increasingly transformed into the image of Christ as they submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We believe that full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. 1 Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 8:7 The Church - We believe that the church is the body of Christ and the family of God. It is made up of saved and baptized believers, who regularly join together for worship, fellowship, and ministry. Matthew 16:18, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Hebrews 10:25 Evangelism - We believe that it is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and to seek to make growing disciples. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8 The Home - In addition to these important beliefs, we also believe that God has given the parents and the home the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We believe that a consistent and whole education will occur when home, church, and school work closely together and are in agreement on the basic principles of life. 8 Student Agreement of Conduct Grades 5-12 Claiborne Christian School is a ministry of Family Church. It is our desire that every school employee and student reflect a lifestyle pleasing to Jesus Christ. Because of this, who we are and what we do, both on and off campus, is extremely important. Since the testimony of our lives is so critical, you are asked to read and sign the following agreement which pertains to student conduct both on and off campus, during and after school. 1. I agree to strive for excellence as a student in all I say and do. 2. I agree to obey the Bible in speech and conduct. 3. I agree to respect and cooperate with those in authority at the school. 4. I agree to avoid alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. 5. I agree to avoid cursing, sexual immorality, witchcraft, dissension, and cheating. These and other specific acts and attitudes cited in Galatians 5:19-21 are not a lifestyle that is pleasing to the Lord. 6. I agree to obey the dress code that has been set by the School Board. 7. I agree to submit to the school s discipline policy. 8. I understand that once I enroll at Claiborne Christian School, I am part of CCS wherever I am. Therefore, I agree to avoid behavior, both on and off campus that would dishonor Jesus Christ, the school, the church, or my family and me. 9.
