2 0 INTRODUCTION Read the story! Then act it out in front of your colleages. The young Will is a fourteen year-old kid who plays videogames and doesn t like to do his homework. He has a Shakespeare assignment due for the next morning, but Will doesn t care and keeps playing all night. He falls asleep and he ll meet the ghost of William Shakespeare, who will help him wake up and finish his homework by playing a couple of his most known plays: Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night s Dream and Hamlet. Do you want to join him in his dreamy adventure?

3 1 KNOW THE CHARACTERS Read and listen about them... then answer the questions. Hey guys! I m Will! I m fourteen years old and I like to play videogames a lot! I love the stories, they are so exciting! But I don t like going to school, and I like even less doing my homework! It s so boring! I have this Shakespeare assignment and I have to turn it in by tomorrow, and I haven t wrote even a word! But I don t care, I have to keep playing! I m near the ending of the game! Hello, everyone! I m Will s Mom. I know he s a little bit unpolite sometimes, but deep inside he s a good boy. I hope he doesn t have problems at school. He has this Shakespeare assignment and I don t want him to fail! Hello, ladies and gentlemen! I m William Shakespeare! Well, I m his ghost. I m appearing in Will s dream to help him with his assignment, whether he likes it or not! He ll have to learn to respect my authority if he wants to wake up and embrace his destiny!

4 ANSWER THE QUESTIONS What does Will like? Why he isn t going to bed? Does Will s mom think he is doing well in school? Why? Why does William Shakespeare s ghost appear to Will in his dreams? Moral! What do you think drives the characters motivations? Do you think Will is doing it right? Why? Do you always turn in your assignments in time? Do you think Will s mom should be harder on him? Why?

Juliet wakes up and takes her own life as well to be with her love.

But I m going to chase her because I m very passionate or whatever. I just like danger! So I m going to sneak in to the Capulet s party. They ve told me that King Capulet and his beautiful daughter Juliet are going to be there... Juliet: Hi guys! I m Juliet! And I m a Capulet! Isn t that exciting! I m going to have a party at the Capulet s place, and I hope Captain Paris will ask me to marry him! My dad, King Capulet, will be so excited! King Capulet: Hello, my people! I m King Capulet! I don t like the war with the Montagues, but all my subjects want to kill them! I don t know what s going on with them! Anyway, we have to stay positive! Maybe, some day, the war between us can en! Once upon a time, there was a woman named Hermia. She was in love with Lysander, and Lysander, of course, loved Hermia back, so they wanted to marry each other. But there was a third person, called Demetrius. She loved Hermia too! And... finally, there was Helena, who loved Demetrius. When Hermia told her father, the Duke, she wanted to marry Lysander... The Duke said: * No! You will marry Demetrius! * But since Hermia only loved Lysander, they ran away to the forest... followed by Demetrius... followed by Helena. What they didn t know was that the character was a magical place full of fairies, and that they would meet King Oberon and his fairy soldier, Puck.

He travelled to England for a couple of months, but when he came back, he found out that his father was dead and that his mother Gertrude, had married his father, Claudius. Claudius now was the king of England, and Hamlet found it disturbing. One night, at the cemetery, the ghost of his father appeared to him and told him his uncle and mother had poisoned him. Hamlet sets out in motion a plan to avenge his father and kill Claudius, but to do that he will have to break up with his girlfriend, Ophelia, so she s not in danger. Why Hamlet wasn t in Denmark when his father died? Why Claudius married Hamlet s mother? Who was the ghost that appeared to Hamlet at the cemetery? Why Hamlet had to break up with his girlfriend Ophelia?
