SECTION 3 LESSON 12 Lessons 1-11 REVIEW ANSWERS Lesson 1 According to John 4:23 explain the kind of worship the Father wants from you? This worship comes about when we, through following and obeying God s word, come into willingness through right relationship with Him to extol and lift up His worthiness and our appreciation, admiration and love from our heart and entire being. We speak, sing, jump, run, dance, play instruments or many other expressions of honor that we are led to express respect, reverence and recognition unto Him. We allow the Holy Spirit to control our worship with the Father. Worship comes from a loving and appreciative heart; not a casual meaningless and insincere lip service; only then is it worship that is pleasing to the heart of our Heavenly Father. LESSON 2 Why is it important not to partake of Holy Communion unworthily? In 1 Corinthians 11: Paul correct the Corinthians for partaking of the Lord's Supper unworthily. The Greek were having a love feast, followed by the Lord's Supper. According to the Greek custom each brought their own provisions. The rich would fare sumptuously while the poor had very little to eat, and some were intoxicated from drinking. Paul boldly proclaims that the Corinthians made the church a place to be despised and shame the poor by their conduct. Instead of putting the food on a common table so all could partake as needed, the rich ate by themselves and the poor by themselves. The rich despised the poor and this led to the divisions, strife and drunkenness and shame. These things disqualified them for the Lord's Supper and brought on sickness and death. LESSON 3 Where do we bring our tithes? As Malachi announced to a struggling generation that withheld the payment of the tithe, Test me in this, says the Lord almighty, and see if I will not open the windows and bless you. The tithe is holy. When you give your tithes and offerings, you are not only giving unto your local church.take note here please you are not only giving unto your local church; but you are obeying God and giving unto and into God s Kingdom. His Kingdom receives your tithes and offerings as seed and then God multiplies your seed sown out of His Kingdom resources not from yours or your local church. Although you give your tithe to your local church whether you are in full agreement with the Pastors and leadership, God receives it as an act of obedience and faith on your part and blesses you in it as long as you have given cheerfully and willingly. (See II Corinthians 9: 6-8 and Isaiah 1:19) The storehouse in scriptures proved to be the local assemblies of believers local government. (See Deuteronomy 28:8, I Chronicles 22:14, Malachi 3:10) LESSON 4 What are some scriptures that you can use in leading someone to Christ? (Give at least 5) (a) Romans 3: (New King James Version) : for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (B) John 3:3-5 (New King James Version) Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (C) Romans 10:9-10 (New King James Version) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 1 P a g e H T G T T V S E C T I O N 3 L E S S O N 1 2 R E V I E W A N S W E R S O F L e s s o n s / 1 8 ( S C )

(D) John 1:12 (New King James Version) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: (E) John 14:6 (New King James Version) Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (5) What is a testimony? Do you have a testimony? (A) To serve: as a witness, evidence, proof, and record that your assertion of what God has done in you, thru you, for you is true and you made a declaration of truth. (B) YES, BY HIS GRACE. (Then your personal answer) LESSON 5 What is prophecy s center focus? (List all 4) The center focus of end times prophecies is built around the (1) return of the Lord Jesus Christ as the resurrected King of Kings and Lord of Lords, (2) to be joined with His bride the church, and (3) save and redeem the Jewish people that have been returned from the 4 corners of the earth unto Israel (4) and judge the world. LESSON 6 Give 3 different, separate callings in the Body of Christ along with scriptures for them. God has placed different positions or callings and vocations in the body of Christ. All of these are to work in their several gifting to support the entire body. The Lord started with the major ministries to build the entire body of the church; they are: Apostle, (one with power and discernment to establish local churches, often followed by miraculous and powerful signs). The Prophet is one that receives direction from God for the move and direction of God for the present and future, often speaking/declaring what will be. The Evangelist has an anointing of God to bring conviction to the lost and backslidden. The Pastor has the call to direct, protect and feed the flock of God. The Teacher has a special anointing to give revelation and assist in the building of the church from the oracles and statues of God s doctrines and principles. The Lord joins these specialized ministries as He sees fit. Sometimes He has them stand alone in one person and sometimes He places more than one in an individual as per His direction. The Lord then places within the church specific specialized callings known as helps to the five ministries (often called the fivefold ministries). They are: Ministry, Exhortation, Giving, Ruling and Mercy. These categories have many further separations under each one as per the need of the specific local church or churches. An example that would be under Ministry would be Praise and Worship, Deacons, Communications, Administration, Evangelism and other callings. 1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 1Timothy 3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, 2 P a g e H T G T T V S E C T I O N 3 L E S S O N 1 2 R E V I E W A N S W E R S O F L e s s o n s / 1 8 ( S C )

and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Deacons (Ministry of Helps) Acts 6:1-6 Seven Chosen to Serve (as deacons) 1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; 4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, 6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. LESSON 7 What are the functions of apostles in the church? We see God giving structure to the Church through apostles in 2 BASIC AREAS: Function and Doctrine FUNCTION: What a Christian does to demonstrate faith in God is called function. For example, prayer is a function of Christian life. In order to give prayer the same meaning and importance that God does, and in order for a believer to be joined to God through prayer, this function needs the structure, value, and knowledge of truth to tell us how to and 'why we pray. This is what apostles do; they give the correct instruction to the Church regarding this activity, this function of their faith. DOCTRINE: What a Christian does to demonstrate faith in God must be in truth because it must represent Jesus Christ perfectly who is truth. If the doctrine is not in truth the operation of God is absent, the mediation of Jesus Christ is absent, and the effectual working of the Holy Spirit is absent. Truth is made known through doctrine, and represents Jesus Christ perfectly. This is why the apostle John called doctrine, the doctrine of Christ (II Jn.9). Doctrine is made known through the apostles. This is why we read in Acts 2:42, And they (the believers) continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship,. Every function of Christian life is regulated and given value through doctrine. The doctrine of baptisms, for example, gives the true value of water baptism and the baptism that Jesus gives through the Holy Spirit. Because the doctrine is in truth, and given through apostles, a believer is able to know without a doubt which baptism forms the activity of faith that joins them to God. The operation of God, the mediation of Jesus Christ, and the effectual working power of the Holy Spirit are present and faith is made living. 3 P a g e H T G T T V S E C T I O N 3 L E S S O N 1 2 R E V I E W A N S W E R S O F L e s s o n s / 1 8 ( S C )

Believers think they have the apostles' doctrine because they have the letters that they wrote. But we must remember that before they wrote these letters they personally instructed the saints. The letters were sent to confirm what the saints already knew. Lesson 8 Besides foretelling the future what else did prophets do? The Prophet s mission was to maintain and develop the knowledge of the Law among the Israelites, lead them back when they strayed, correct moral and religious abuses, to proclaim the moral and religious truths which are connected with the character of God and which lie at the foundation of his government and prepare the way for the kingdom that the messiah (Jesus) was to establish on the earth. LESSON 9 What are five characteristics of an Evangelist? Choose one characteristic and explain it with supporting scripture. 1. MOVED BY COMPASSION. An Evangelist is one who keeps reminding us that everyone is important to God, especially those that have been written off by others. They have a great ability to see the "good" in people and see virtually everyone as "salvageable.. This minister believes that those who have hopeless situations can be set free. He/She longs for others to believe the Good News about Jesus Christ, and realizes that he/she is one who is called to go, stand, and tell the people the full message of this new life. 2. IS SENSITIVE TO GOD S PROMPTING. The Lord sent a message to Phillip to go to a certain place. Philip arose and did not hesitate to obey the suggestions of the messenger. Likewise an evangelist should be in tune and ready to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit. 3. BOLDLY TAKES INITIATIVE TO GUIDE THE CONVERSATION INTO SPIRITUAL TRUTH. Phillip knew that the scripture was unintelligible to the eunuch if he was not acquainted with the gospel; He took the initiative to ask the question, "Do you understand what you are reading? Phillip asked this open ended question to determine where the eunuch stood, and how to approach him An Evangelist should be a conversation starter about the gospel given every opportunity. 4. TEACHES SCRIPTURE NOT OPINIONS. The eunuch asked for information. This gave Philip the opportunity of preaching Jesus. He showed the prophecies of the Messiah, that he suffered, died, and rose again, and that Jesus commanded his gospel to be preached and believers to be baptized in his name. 5. AN EVANGELIST IS DECISIVE An Evangelist is motivated to win souls therefore he/she emphasizes the need for a definite, commitment or conversion. Phillip asked for a confession from the enunch and told him decisively if he believes then he can be baptized. An evangelist seeks to get the individual converted after the word has been preached and he must not be shy to ask for a decision. An Evangelist s whole conversation is like the fruit of the tree of life that gains souls to God. LESSON 10 How does the character of a shepherd compare to the pastor? Give at least 2 scriptures. Paul's epistle to the Ephesians tells us that some are given to be pastors. Looking to the Holy Spirit we can discover in scripture exactly what the ministry of the pastor is. The meaning of the Greek word we translate as pastor is shepherd. The job title pastor therefore refers to a spiritual shepherd. The Shepherd s job was to feed, protect, lead and nourish the sheep of his flock internally and externally. The Pastor and the Shepherd s character are therefore the same. Ephesians 5: NKJV, "Husbands love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of the water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, LESSON 11 Give three components of an effective teacher and explain why they are important. A. Know that teaching is God s appointment or calling for you. If God has called you to evangelize, you will not know fulfillment or walk in God s perfect will unless you follow YOUR calling. 4 P a g e H T G T T V S E C T I O N 3 L E S S O N 1 2 R E V I E W A N S W E R S O F L e s s o n s / 1 8 ( S C )

B. Be Spirit Filled and Spirit Led Luke 12:12 says: for the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. In other words, the teacher must have a teacher. As with all the ministries, spiritual lives are at stake so you lose effectiveness if you look to your own intellect of feelings. Depend on the Spirit to provide the answers and words to meet the need. C. Have a Teachable Spirit Realize that no matter how much you may think you know, God knows more and has more to reveal if you remain open. God s mysteries are inexhaustible, so our learning, even as a teacher, is for a lifetime. If we find that we have problems in this area; we will soon know that our loving Father has a way to deflate an inflated head. D. Have the desire for and Love of Learning Avoid complacency. Pursue deeper depths in God. As He opens Himself to you sovereignly and through others, the teacher in you will impart that knowledge and love to others. A teacher gives ; so it is understandable that as you receive more, you will have an abundance to share. E. Possess the Ability to Communicate on many levels People learn in many ways and tune out if their method of learning is not addressed. People also have different levels of understanding. As a teacher, your student base will vary, so you must trust God and use the skills He provides to meet each individual s needs. He may give you illustrations, examples, personal experiences, or a unique vocabulary to enhance understanding. Remember, Jesus used parables. F. Possess Patience and a Sense of Humor You will be teaching people from different backgrounds, experiences, and levels of understanding; maintain patience with all and keep your ear tuned in to the Spirit. Remember your purpose and seek God to avoid getting caught up in controversy or conflict, which serve to distract from imparting and receiving God s truths. Know not to take things said or done personally but seek God s way of resolving everything that may rise to thwart God s coming forth. G. Share in Love Mark 6:34 tells us: And Jesus, when He came out, saw much people and was moved with compassion toward them because they were as sheep without a shepherd and He began to teach them many things. As you go before your students, or even your children (as parents), view all through God s eyes, see the need, and know, as a teacher, God has given you whatever is needed to bring about growth, correction, and healing. Being a teacher in the Body is more than a job. You cannot put it on at 9am and take it off at 5pm. You don t even need a classroom! If your call is to teach, it may occur in the streets, at the store, wherever God wants a manifestation to a member of the Body. As you learn to view souls with the compassion of Christ, God can come forth to minister His truths through you at any time or place. (and there are more) Lesson 11 What is the mission of the Sons of God? God needs a means of showing the world what His image and likeness looks like. The Sons of God are those who are led by the Spirit to demonstrate God s love, mercy, wisdom and power. Through the sons, God s reality is made known in the earth.
