2 Greetings Brothers! We help at first degree on February 7 th and I would like to welcome our newest member Lamar Watkins to our council. Lamar has only been a Knight for a few short weeks and he s already had an impact on the Council. Lamar has created a website for the council, hhtp://kofc.selfip.org. Well done Lamar. Lamar has added the calendar and the Communicator to the website. Our council sponsored a Valentine s Dance on Feb 16 th that was open to the Parish. I would like to thank Dec. Larry Roberts and crew for a job well done. The Ladies Appreciation Night Social was held on Feb 21 st. We had 120 plus attending the social. A special thank you to Wayland Moody and Howard Jackson and crew for the wonderful meal. I would like to thank Gene Alaura for Chairing this event and his crew for doing an outstanding job on this event. I have received a lot of good comments from the Parish about how good the food was and and how well it was organized. On the weekend of Feb 22, 23, 24 we had (5) five from our council go to Columbia and take the Fourth Degree, the highest degree of the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations. Alan Miles, Nick Loudin, Juan Carrion, Joseph Phillips, and Daniel Estes. They are now fourth degree members of Assembly #1900, Summerville, SC. We held our fish fry on Feb 29 th that was very successful. We had a great turnout both for eat in and take out. The change in the way we served the meals worked. Thank you Howard Jackson, Wayland Moody and ALL the knights and their families who helped cook and serve the meals. I would like to thank Brandon Chambers and several members of our sister Council who came and supported our event. Council #6726 is having fish fry s on March 14 th and the 28 th at their council home. I would like to have brother knights from our council to To attend Hanahan s fish fry to return the support they have shown us. We have candidates waiting to take the First Degree. DGK Frank DeLustro has scheduled a degree for March 9th. At 1:00pm We will be one more step closer to attaining Star Council again this year. We have participated in more than enough programs to qualify for the Star Council Award and higher. 3 Social Bulletin March Social Theme Will Be: St. Patrick s Day From the Desk of the Deputy Grand Knight: Happy St. Patrick s Day! The skies are dark today and the rain is falling, great weather for us in light of the drought we have been having! The past 2 months have witnessed great loss with the passing away of several close relatives and friends of the Council. I note with personal sadness that Gene Cervini, our eldest Brother in Council 11991, will no longer be on the chow line at our socials and meetings. Yet such is the state of nature and all God s creatures have their seasons: a time to live and a time to die. We trust and pray that our loved ones have moved on to a better place where knowledge and enlightenment flow from the Almighty. As for the Council, the annual Ladies Day Appreciation dinner was a great success thanks to the help of many of the Brothers and most notably the culinary skills of Howard Jackson & Wayland Moody. Kudos to all who helped to make the night a real pleasure for the ladies. I was fortunate to be able to award the Family of the Month Award to Tom and Pat Karabees who exemplify the best in what we strive for in charitable contribution and volunteer participation. We also saw the beginnings of a real web site for the Council thanks to the efforts of Lamar Watkins, a new member, who put together a great prototype to use for postings and information flow to the membership and non-members alike. This will be a boon to improved communication and you should be seeing it real soon. I hope that we can achieve better attendance at meetings & socials by providing the membership with what they seek to stimulate more interest & enthusiasm for participation, so please send in your suggestions to me or the GK!
