Synpsis f Church Leadership The Pastr f Banwell Cmmunity Church is the spiritual leader f the cngregatin. The primary respnsibility f the Pastr is t effectively cmmunicate the Truths f the Christian Faith thrugh teaching and leadership that: is Biblically based, prclaims the Gspel f Jesus Christ, cnnects Gd s wrd t the lives f Gd s peple, is well-rganized and easy t understand, and encurages Gd s peple t live ut their Christianity as servants in Gd s wrld. The Pastr is cnsidered t be a sincere and caring persn wh pssesses a passin fr serving thers bth members and nn-members and has a cmpassinate heart fr thse in need.

3 The Church Cmmunity Banwell Cmmunity Church is lcated in East Windsr at 2400 Banwell Rad. This residential area is characterized by family neighbrhds and subdivisins; hwever, church membership and participatin cmes frm neighburhds, cmmunities, and twns thrughut the whle f Essex Cunty. Banwell Cmmunity Church wrships tgether in ne traditinal service at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Attendance averages abut 255 each week; hwever, 500 peple wuld call it their hme church. Bible fellwship starts at 9:30 a.m. and has an average attendance f 35 peple. The cngregatinal demgraphics f Banwell Cmmunity Church spans all age grups and is reflective f the multicultural makeup f Canadian sciety. Banwell Cmmunity Church is blessed t have a cngregatin that is made up f peple f many ethnicities, educatinal levels, and ccupatins. Tgether, ur cngregatin is united as Gd s messengers, eager t allw His light t shine as we use ur individual and unique gifts t serve ur cmmunity and engage the utside wrd with the message f the Gspel. Ministries Men s Ministry The men f Banwell are cmmitted t gathering tgether t develp their faith as individual men and t establish themselves as representatives f Christ's lve and hpe in the lcal cmmunity and thrughut Gd s wrld. The Men's Ministry cmmitted themselves t the develpment and implementatin f varius activities, each exemplifying their cmmitment t being Gd s faithful servants, that supprt the lcal church and in varius cmmunities thrughut the City f Windsr and Essex Cunty. Perhaps their mst visible activity is the Mnthly Men's Breakfast which allws the males f ur church t gather at 8:30 a.m. n the furth Saturday f each mnth (excluding August). During this time f fellwship, the men sit dwn t a delicius breakfast frm a menu which varies thrughut the year. Breakfast is fllwed by a mtivating and interesting talk given by a church member r select Christian guests frm the cmmunity at large. Wmen s Ministry The Wmen s Ministry f Banwell Cmmunity Church schedules varius events thrughut the year such as the Harvest Tea where the wmen f Banwell gather tgether as sisters in Christ, t supprt members f the cmmunity that need help. Their lving cmmitment t thers was recently exemplified by their supprt fr the Huse f Sphrsyne, a charitable rganizatin active in Windsr-Essex fr 35 years that prvides prgrams and services t wmen and their families wh are battling addictin and substance misuse. Senir s Ministry At Banwell, we value all ages and stages f life. Our senirs cntinue t be a very imprtant part f ur ministries here. We all benefit frm their experience and perspectives. The Senir s Ministry is a grup that meets mnthly fr fellwship and fun. Mst mnths include a lunch meeting which typically includes a guest speaker r presentatin f interest t the grup. Rck Slid Yuth Ministry Rck Slid Ministries meets at the church n Friday evenings frm 7:00-9:00 p.m. This prgram prvides fellwship pprtunities fr yung peple between grades Friday nights are filled with Bible study, games, music, special events and snacks.

4 Rck Slid Kids Ministry During the wrship service, kids frm JK t Grade 5 are invited t g t Children s Church where they learn abut the Bible thrugh fun activities such as singing, games, stries, and crafts. There is an average attendance f abut kids each Sunday. Prir t making their way t the Children s Church meeting rms, the yungest amng us gather briefly with the Pastr fr warm, welcming, and heartfelt message designed and delivered especially fr children by the leader f ur church. The children f Banwell Cmmunity Church are als invited t participate in Kid s Zne every Thursday evening frm 6:30pm-8pm where they again learn abut the Bible thrugh a variety f fun activities, games, and mvies. There is an average attendance f abut children each week. In additin, there is als Vcatinal Bible schl during the summer. This past summer, the theme was Passprt t Peru where the children learned abut Gd s gd gifts and the cuntry f Peru. This VBS had apprximately 35 children attend. Small Grups Banwell Cmmunity Church ffers a wide variety f faith-based small grups dedicated t encuraging and inspiring each ther in a biblical cmmunity that helps us becme mre like Jesus in every area f ur lives. Grups are facilitated by the pastr as well as members f the cngregatin. Missins & Outreach The Missin & Outreach Cmmittee The Missin & Outreach Cmmittee prudly wrks with Canadian Baptist Ministries, as well as many ther rganizatins, t prvide individuals with the pprtunity t serve in Gd s wrld thrugh a variety f Christian-based endeavrs, pprtunities, and experiences. Matthew Huse Matthew Huse is a lcal, shrt term hme fr Refugees that seeks t prvide cmfrt and security fr newly arrived refugee claimants in Windsr by prviding transitinal husing and settlement assistance. Regular mnthly dnatins are made frm the Missins and Outreach budget f Banwell Cmmunity Church. The Dwntwn Missin The Dwntwn Missin is a Christian, faith-based, registered nt-fr-prfit rganizatin, with a fcus n serving and advcating fr thse wh struggle with pverty and hmelessness. The Dwntwn Missin exists as a Place f Sanctuary. In respnse t the mandate f the Gspel, thrugh utreach the missin prvides: fd fr the bdy, nurture fr the spirit, shelter fr the hmeless, advcacy fr the impverished, and pprtunity fr human grwth. CBM Missinaries: Cnrad and Fina Kwk Alng with ther CBM prjects, Banwell Cmmunity Church supprts the missin-minded Cnrad and Fina Kwk. Based in Nrthern Thailand, Cnrad and Fina have been blessed with lng-standing cllabratin with Bethel Bible Institute (BBI), and their fcus is n wrking with yung Chinese church leaders, primarily frm mainland China, but als nrthern Thailand and Burma, as servants t Gd s peple in East Asia.

5 Organizatinal Life Banwell Cmmunity Church practices cngregatinal plity. All imprtant decisins are brught befre the whle membership. There are three quarterly meetings and ne annual meeting. These include financial reprts, reprts frm the Bards, reprts frm the ministries, and sharing f celebratins, issues, and cncerns. Bard f Directr s The cmmittees at Banwell Cmmunity Church are cmprised f vlunteers that versee varius aspects f the cngregatin's well-being. Dr. Alex Mir, Lead Pastr Alex Mir assumed the rle f pastr f Banwell Cmmunity Church n July 2 nd, He and his wife Linda reside just suth f the village f Puce and tgether they have tw sns; Zach, wh lives in the United States, and Tyler, wh lives in Lndn, Ontari, with his wife, Tamerra, and their sn, Mace, the Mir s first grandchild. Alex has earned degrees frm Taylr University (A.B. / 1975) and Suthern Baptist Thelgical Seminary (Masters f Divinity / 1978; Dctr f Ministry / 1992). Alex and Linda have been blessed t serve three wnderful cngregatins amngst Canadian Baptists f Ontari and Quebec, including: First Baptist Church, Leamingtn, Ontari ( ); Westview Baptist Church, Lndn, Ontari ( ), and Banwell Cmmunity Church in Windsr, Ontari. Bth Alex and Linda have an extensive histry f activity in a variety f ministries within the CBOQ. Marlee Page, Directr f Christian Educatin Marlee Page directs the Rck-Slid Kids Ministry, Adult Christian Educatin, and assists the Pastr with small grup learning at Banwell Cmmunity Church. She is the mm f tw teenage girls, Kdi and Kyrn, and wife t Dave. She lives and wrks n her family farm and is the fifth generatin t reside there. She has been a member f Banwell Cmmunity Church since it was built and she enjys the welcming and family-like atmsphere that characterizes ur church.

6 Ian McGregr Smith, Minister f Music Ian McGregr Smith began his leadership f the Music Ministry in April Ian and his daughter Avnlea had been a part f the Banwell family fr ver a year at the time that the Music Minister psitin became available. Ian has previusly ministered at the Cmmunity Missinary Church in Windsr ( ) and has ver 20 years f music industry experience as artist/perfrmer, prducer, cmpser, cnductr, and music directr. He carries tw university degrees in music (Bachelr f Music) and in teaching (Bachelr f Educatin) frm the University f Windsr. Debbie Ebel, Administrative Assistant Debbie jined Banwell in September 2006 as the church s Administrative Assistant. She is a graduate f Seneca Cllege, where she btained a Bilingual Administrative Assistant Diplma. She als cmpleted a year f a Bachelr f Religius Educatin prgram at Mdy Bible Institute. Debbie is invlved in the Wmen s Ministry, Music Ministry, and the Yung Adult s Ministry at her hme church. Debbie and her husband Grant have fur children - Rachel, Sarah, Tim and Nichlas, as well as tw sn-in-law s, Richard and Jnathan. Chantelle Bell, Caretaker Chantelle started with Banwell in June She is an integral part f the success f the church. When yu enter Banwell Cmmunity Church, she is usually the first welcming face yu see. She ensures that the church building is a safe, clean, and rganized place fr all t wrship. A spirit-led, Mature believer wh prfesses faith in Jesus Christ fr Salvatin and has a mature persnal relatinship with Christ with a full understanding f the Gspel, alng with the ability t clearly cmmunicate it. This persn maturely mdels and teaches Christian cmmitment, dedicatin t prayer, genuine fellwship, integrity, authenticity, hnesty, and healthy relatinships.
