There are some half a dozen possble entrants throughout the State, however, an-d ndcatons pont to a general scramble for the nomnaton, wth perhaps three or four remanng n the race to the end. Of these, the two most promnent names mentoned appear to be Robert Carey, of Jersey Cty, and Davd Bard, Jr. Mr. Carey s beleved, to have strong support n Hudson County, hs home County, and has also a large number of supporters n Bergen County. He undoubtedly! would be acceptable to such ndependents as John B. Zabrske and former Assemblyman Purdy, who s reported to seek the nomnaton of County Clerk. MUSC PUPLS GVE ENJOYABLE CONCERT A muscal treat was enoyed by those who accepted the nvtaton to the concert gven by the pupls of Mss M. E. Woodruff and the Bergen Symphony Orchestra, at the Hgh School audtorum, Thrd avenue, Westwood, on Frday evenng, January 16. The programme was a long and vared one, and was prncpally performed by pupls of Mss Woodruff, whle the Bergen Symphony Orchestra, composed of many promnent ctzens who have banded together for the purpose of enoyng and ncreasng then- knowledge of orchestraton musc, played the orchestral numbers, wth the pupls takng part n these numbers. The players, both pupls and members of the orchestra, completely occuped the platform and were led by Mss Woodruff herself. Many numbers were these of the old masters, wth many present-day composers also ncluded. The programme conssted of French, German, Russan, Hungaran, Norwegan, Czecho-Slovakan, Englsh and Amercan compostons, played by the pupls. The dffcult peces were ably rendered, reflectng credt to the ablty of Mss Woodruff's coachng, and receved the plaudts of the audence by ther nsstence for encores. A feature of the concert was the demonstraton of Haydn, the great composer, who beng dssatsfed and ncensed at the ndfferent manner n the comng and. gong whle the performance was beng held, decded to teach them a lesson, and therefor as one left he was made to snuff hs candle, that beng the only method of lghtng n use n Haydn's tme, and upon the player's return to relght t agan. The "Farewell Symphony," by Haydn, was played by the pupls, asssted by the Symphony Orchestra, each havng a lghted candle before them, and whle "the number was beng played, frst one and then another would blow out hs candle and leave the platform, ths contnung unt:l, near the end of. the number, only a very few of the players remaned on the platform. Ths feature receved the enthusastc applause of the audence and was very greatly enoyed.. Another feature was the number by the Rhythm Orchestra, demonstratng the ablty of the younger chldren, n beatng a drum n rhythmc tune to the accompanment of ther leader's baton. Two exceptonal numbers on the programme, exceptonal to those who realzed the unusual ablty of the players, was the double fngerng by Leonard Bogert n hs performance o Kresler's "The Old Refran," on the voln, the other number beng a voln-'cello solo, played by Werner Besser, "A Day n Vence." The 'cello was larger than the boy hmself. At the concluson of the concert Mss Woodruff was made the recpent of a large bouquet of flowers, tendered her by her many muscal admrers and pupls. A photographer snapped a pcture of the performers at the concluson of the concert, whch began at 8:3, and lasted for several hours.
