1 Prayer Requests Thanks to an awesome AWSL group, I am blessed to spend Tuesday nights with a couple of the boys from Home 7 taking a Boot Camp class. Last night, we stopped for gas and Drake looked at my phone and asked, what does your phone screen say? I touch the sky, when my knees hit the ground. (which is one of my favorite song lyrics right now) As I shared the lyric with him, I explained that on my stressful and chaotic days, I can simply look down at my phone and receive a gentle reminder that my way through it all is knees hit the ground in prayer. He contemplated for a few minutes and simply said, that s pretty cool, Ms. Beth. IT is pretty cool (though I would change it to AWESOME!). Prayer is an awesome opportunity to communicate our Praises and our Petitions to our Father. I love Day of Prayer & Giving for Shults-Lewis. It is a day that absolutely fills my cup to overflowing. I love knowing that nearly 20,000 individuals in over 500 congregations are spending time talking to the Father on behalf of OUR ministry. As I always do for Day of Prayer & Giving, I am asking you, as an individual, as a congregation, to not just scan over these requests. Take the time to pray for each of the kids, each staff member, and the things they have on their hearts. Take time to praise God for the amazing things He has done for us! In my opinion, this is one of the greatest honors and responsibilities we have as brothers and sisters. I m relying on your prayers. God is going to do AMAZING things because YOU prayed. 2 God has blessed us in amazing ways and we want to always thank Him and give Him the glory for the great things He has done! Praises God s continued blessing such as great donors, and enthusiastic new houseparents. Staff s willingness to embrace change and seek different ways to serve the children God sends to us. For the innumerable blessings God continues to lavish on the agency (financial, staff, community awareness) For the countless churches, individuals, and groups who give generously so that we can meet the needs of vulnerable, hurting children and families. A full complement of Houseparents!!! That we have the freedoms to do things like prayer meetings at work. The staff and their willingness to work and serve. Having a loving, supportive family. That all of our girls (Home 5) are earning high levels for their overall behaviors, chores, and their willingness to go above and beyond what is expected. Bethanie Jones (daughter of houseparents in Home 5) has done well in all of her achievements while attending her first year in college.

For Friends, that I choose them wisely. For me to have a good job this summer. For My Family: Safe travels and a great summer. My Grandad who is struggling with sickness. This young lady did not want to fill out a prayer request as she doesn t pray. So I ask that you pray for her and that she will come to have faith in God and depend on Him. Also, pray for her family. 6 The Prayer Requests from our staff Jennifer Zandstra, Housemom in Home 1 For Shults-Lewis: For more positions to be filled: Teachers for English, Math, Science, and continued interest in houseparents. That we continue to focus on the needs of the children and their families. That we keep centered on God and not be distracted by what s popular or the way of the world. Personal Requests: For patience and compassion when working with the teens here. For understanding and guidance while learning and navigating the needs of my child with Autism and being a continuing support for him and advocate. For my grandma who has been suffering from seizures. Callie Phelps, Housemom in Home 7 For Shults-Lewis: That Shults-Lewis will continue to grow again as one HUGE family. Personal Requests: That I can be a great mother to my own child and a great mother figure to the boys of Home 7 as well as a good positive role model to the rest of the kids on campus. I pray that our family will grow stronger in the Lord. Justin Phelps, Housedad in Home 7 and Maintenance Assistant For Shults-Lewis: That God continues to provide financial blessings so that we can have a successful Barn Program. Personal Requests: To be a positive influence on the boys in Home 7, to be a good leader of faith. That my family grows in faith and has good health. Don & Cathy Jones, Houseparents in Home 5 For Shults-Lewis: All couples seriously considering to be houseparents follow their hearts and get on their knees to pray to our Heavenly Father for strength and guidance. There are so many young people that need our help. Please pray for all of our houseparents, teachers, and staff who are striving and reaching out each and every day. Personal Requests: For my mother who has been widowed for six years. It is never easy trying to keep up with all duties as a wife and now taking on my father s roles as well. Please pray that her faith and love for God continues to grow as she lives alone. That our family will remain faithful in Christ and seize every opportunity to serve God.

The Rubio Family as Norma recovers and starts treatment. Park Forest Church of Christ that the summer outreach will bring more people in. Carren Powell, Intake Coordinator For Shults-Lewis: That God gives us what we need so our focus can stay on the mission of serving children and their families. Staff can thwart all the ways Satan tries to pull us away from our service to God. Personal Requests: May all that I am, all that I do, and all that I live bring glory, honor, and praise to my God. May God give richly the wisdom and discernment I need so that my life will be a living testimony for Him. Kiana Baldwin, Development Assistant For Shults-Lewis: That God will continue to lead us in the direction He wants us to go. Continued and strengthened unity. Kids that we can help. My brother, Ben, who is in the Marines and away from home right now. My sister, Hannah, as she is deciding which college she wants to attend. My brother, Josh, to do better in school. My grandma, Pam, as she will be living with us while she finds a place to live. Continued spiritual growth.

God has supplied us with everything we need to bring His love to those who need Him. I pray that we become His instruments to share his grace and mercy! Personal Requests: That I would humble myself under God s mighty hand. Keep my heart from bitterness and any human agendas in order to focus on the task of moving this agency forward. That God would continue to bless our Board of Trustees with good health, wisdom, knowledge, and commitment to the task of the children we serve.
