1 2015 Nauvoo Youth Trip Mutual Night Activity Nauvoo Quiz Game Game Objective Learn about Nauvoo by participating in a fun, exciting quiz game about Nauvoo. Game Rules 1. Divide your youth into multiple groups - no larger than 8 in a group. 2. Each group will compete in multiple head-to-head rounds with other groups. (i.e., group A is paired against group B, and Group C is paired against Group D. 3. For each round: Each pair of groups is moderated by an advisor. The advisor asks the questions and has final authority on whether an answer is correct. 4. Each round has an even number of questions. Use Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine which team goes first. 5. Let s say Team A is determined to go first. The advisor asks Team A a question. Team A has thirty seconds to provide a correct answer, which gets Team A two points. If Team A cannot answer correctly in thirty seconds, Team B gets one chance to answer correctly and must answer immediately. If they answer correctly, Team B gets one point. If neither team answers correctly, neither team gets points for that question. Regardless of the outcome, the advisor asks Team B the next question. 6. The advisor continues this alternating pattern of asking questions until all the questions for that round have been asked. 7. Supplemental statements with the answers are not part of the answer - they are there for explanation. 8. The youth are permitted to use technology to get the answers, but they must answer within the required times. 9. At the end of each round the advisor places each team s score on its scorecard (which is just a piece of paper that the team takes with them throughout the game) and notes whether the group won that round. The groups are re-arranged so that the groups are facing different teams. 10. When all rounds have been completed, you can determine a winner in various ways: highest cumulative score; highest number of head-to-head rounds won; etc. 11. The winning team serves the refreshments for the activity. Round 1 The City Q1. When the saints first arrived in Nauvoo, it was actually called. A1. Commerce. Q2. What does Nauvoo mean? A2.
