1 Psalm 91: 2 He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.

2 Psalm 91 1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armour and protection.

3 Psalm 91 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. 8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.

4 Psalm 91 9 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, 10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won t even hurt your foot on a stone.

5 Psalm You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The Lord says, I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.

52 Mark 2 Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man 1 When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God s word to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. 4 They couldn t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. 5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven.

53 Mark 2 6 But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, 7 What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins! 8 Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, Why do you question this in your hearts? 9 Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man Your sins are forgiven, or Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk? 10 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins. Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, 11 Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!

54 Mark 2 12 And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, We ve never seen anything like this before!
