1 **USE THIS EXAMPLE AFTER-ACTION ACCOUNTING REPORT AS A GUIDE FOR YOUR OWN REPORT UPON THE PROJECT S COMPLETION** Project Purpose and Goal Kenya has been experiencing a major drought and does not have the water needed for crops to grow. Individuals are walking miles to get to a water source. The Kenya Water Project was created in order to have better access to water for crops, requiring deep-bore wells to have access to clean water. In December of 2016, with donations from churches and individuals, we petitioned IDES to help with two wells and funds for a food distribution. IDES granted our mission team $10,000 to drill the wells and to provide food in the area we are working. These villages are about 30 miles apart. Without access to wells, family members would have to walk ten or more miles to get water, which is often not sanitary. Through these wells we hope to reach those who have never heard the gospel and provide clean water to these people. While we constructed the wells in the villages, we were also able to use the funds provided by IDES to purchase food for the village families. The drought has made it difficult for many families to provide enough food for themselves. Some people had gone multiple days without much to eat since this drought began. We had the opportunity to sit and visit with multiple families to share our testimony and to share the Gospel. It was a blessing to be with them and offer help and hope. Details of what was accomplished and who participate Through IDES funds, we are happy to say that both wells have been successfully drilled. The wells are now providing access to clean water for each village. The much needed food is helping supplement the little these families had. Extra funds have been used to provide bibles among each village as well. Each well is a symbol of hope for the community. The wells have created opportunities for us to spread the word of Jesus. How this project is assisting your ministry in sharing the Gospel Through the extra funds, we were able to distribute Bibles to each village. We plan to establish a biweekly bible study. Using water from the wells, we plan to build an irrigation system that would help the crops grow for efficiently. Through agricultural education, we plan to use the irrigation system to teach families how they can support themselves through sustainable farming. Summary of specific outcomes 2 clean water wells drilled Each well took about 12 or more workers per well for construction Fed about 400 individuals total from 2 villages Distributed 210 bibles in their heart language Personal Story I can remember the first time we were able to give clean water to a family: a mother, Amara, and her two sons, Hamadi and Bayana. In the past, she would walk 5 miles every day to get dirty surface-water for her family. Once Amara found out that they had a clean-water well in her village, she was overjoyed with tears in her eyes. This well meant the world to her
2 and she knew it would change her families life. All the time that it used to take to get water, she is now able to spend with her two little boys. I have another story of my dear friend named Femi. Femi had been lost, away from everybody he had known he was shunned by his village after contracting a rare-buttreatable disease. He walked 30 miles away to get to a place where he was on his own. He ended up resettling in one of the villages we drilled a well. In this new village, Femi had no friends, no family and little to survive on. Thanks to IDES, this well brought a symbol of hope to the community., which encouraged members of the local church to reach out to Femi, a man they did not really know. Femi began going to church and was surprised to find out about a man named Jesus. He learned that Jesus was shunned and killed by his own people, similar to Femi s story. Femi received treatment thanks to the church members, and now helps lead music for worship and teaches fellow Christians more musical skills that had not been accessible to that village. These wells and bibles have helped inspire people. These people are making a difference in the community, with thanks to the generosity of IDES supporters.
