1 SOUTHERN FOURS AND EIGHTS NEWStITT[R 01 THE SOUTHERN MORCAN GRouP MOGSoum Vo 4/00 McOmber's Host Fall Meet By Randy Johnson Betsy and Gene McOmber were our hosts for MOGSouth's Fall Meet held the weekend of September and October 1 n and around Seneca South Caroln& And what great hosts they were More on that latcr As our daughter Amy was n Atlanta for a weekend vst Dale stayed home to be wth her and I attended the meet solo I met Super Dave and Marlyn Bondon Fnda afternoon and we made our way to Seneca va the slow scenc route (no fas four lane hghways) lt was a pleasant rde and a perlèct afternoon for a mp n a Morgan As we checked n at the motel we met Lynn and Jule Crag n ther bnght ellow Morgan and followed them to the McOmber's home on Lake Keowee n Salem SC The party was underway when we arrved so we quckly joned n In addton to those already mentoned also attendng the meet were Graeme Addle and hs daughter Emma from Augusta GA Gracme's wfe Jenny and Emmaa husband Jeff arrved Saturda afternoon Graeme had planned to have Emma drve a second Morgan hut after two mechancal problems wth that car they came together n (]raeme's Flat Rad lle was also prepared for the return trp as le had Jenn tow a UHaul dolly n case of a hreakdo on Sunday I have not heard f t was needed rv!ark and Andrea l3rauntcn came from nearby Greenvlle SC as well as Lee and Trsha Gaskïns from Spartanburg SC Jack and Monca Claxton came from Ganesvlle GA Jack tells us he s close to havng hs car home n hs new garage where he can complete ts restoraton Charle Kng also attended solo as Carolne was under the weather Charle and Madc Wllams were there n Charle's new Jaguar sedan Lance and Conne Lpscomb were there and we understand Lance s makng some progress on hs engne rebuld Many of our usual attendng members mssed thc weekend but they all had excused absences On Frday nght Bets had made a Taco Salad for all of us to share and we all enjoyed the camaradere of the evenng at ther lovely home on Lake Keowee We were nvted back to the McOmber's for a 'surprs&' breakfast on

2 Salurday mornng and what a surprsc Betsy and Gene had arranged for John Welter to cook breakfast for all of us And he cooked omelets to order All you had to do was put your chosen ngredents n a bowl hand them to John and he completed the omelet What a treat and ve had a table full of other food to accompan\ the tmelets No one left hungry Attendng the breakfast on Saturday In addton Lo those already mentoned were Peter and Glvns Rtch from Greer SC and eght of the McOmber% neghbors who we enjoyed vstng wth and talkng about Morgans Peter had brought several parts from hs parts hrn to see he could dentt where they mght belong on hs restoraton and spent a good deal of tme comparng them to Graeme Addes car t was also good to see Joe and Los Pearson former Trke owners and stll Morgan lovers After breakfast t was off to Ceaser' s Ilead Statc Park va SC Scenc Hghway L %th a stop a Àun Sue's on the return tr Ice cream and sandwches lt was another beautful day and a good workout for the Morgans As Charle Kng and I flere the hardtals lbr the weekend we shared my Plus Four for the rde Upon arrvng back at the motel n Seneca MorganFab propretor Don Smpkns was found wanderng the parkng lo Don had come up from Demorest GA for the dnner that cvernng Don and I walked nest door to Fatz Cafe for a beer and the opportunty to catch up wth each other The MeOmber's planned for the group to have dnner n downtown Seneca on Saturday nght at the Ram Cat Bstro a locally owned restaurant We had the place to ourselves and t was great Good food good wne and good company! After dnner y made our way back to the motel and called t a nght I left at 700 AM on Sunday mornng for the rde back to Atlanta to be able to spend most of the day wth Amy and had a great mornng for the drve (Jur thanks to Betsy and Gene for so ably hostng ths meet and for au that the gave to nsure our enjoyment They have rased the bar for Sa1urda mornng breakfasts!
