3 1 Kings 13:1 Now behold, there came a man of God from Judah to Bethel by the word of the Lord, while Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense. He cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus says the Lord, Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and human bones shall be burned on you. Then he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord has spoken, Behold, the altar shall be split apart and the ashes which are on it shall be poured out. 1 kings 13:1-3 There was a man of God a (Prophet) sent to speak the Word of the Lord. Jeroboam was sending up strange fire on the altar, he was burning incense to baal. The man of God was sent as God s mouthpiece to speak judgement and make a decree that the priest of the high places would be burned upon that same altar. The prophet was given specific instructions concerning what to say, instructed not to eat or drink in that place, also not to return back the same way. Many upcoming prophets or prophetic people who can see in the spirit often ask the question, why is it that many strange people start to gravitate towards my gifts or towards me? Most of the time other people can see the gifting and a call upon a person life before it becomes clear to the one who is called. Many people are intrigued with the spiritual realm and are seeking for information pertaining to their future. There are also people who want to know about what s taking place in the spirit realm outside of God. They start tapping into areas the Bible prohibits. When a person takes an interest in the prophetic and attempt to take an office God did not give, to save face they look for ways to obtain information. What do I mean by saving face is to save their reputation or to appear like they hear God. This is one of the reasons why these people want to stay in the company of God s Prophets. The Bible tells us that men were stealing words from their neighbors. False Prophets look for clues and information they can use to appear like they re giving an accurate prophecy. In the spirit realm true prophets are recognized as servants of the Most High God, so counterfeiters and false prophets will covet your authenticity, anointing, gifts and mantle. False Prophets are mimickers and love to study the delivery and style of the authentic prophet. They look for ways to perfect their craft. Those who have a call of God upon their lives must move only when God moves and speak only when God releases them to speak. It s not about appearing to be some high level prophet. It s a matter of the heart and being God s mouthpiece, conveying the message spoken by God that s most important. We are living in a time when careless words are spoken far too much. When speaking presumptuously, innocent people are being misled and lives diverted. 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.

4 Indeed these prophets are dying a spiritual death, lacking revelation and no longer hearing God speak to them (famine of God s word) so, they succumb to stealing the word spoken to others. Therefore behold, I am against the prophets, declares the Lord, who steal My words from each other. Behold, I am against the prophets, declares the Lord, who use their tongues and declare, The Lord declares. Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams, declares the Lord, and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:30-31 As the Prophet (the Man of God) spoke the word of the Lord, the King Jeroboam attempted to have the prophet seized, but when he stretched out his hand against the prophet it withered. As the result of the Word from God, the altar was torn down and the ashes poured out from the altar. All of this was according to the sign that the man of God had spoken. Then the king said to the man of God, Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward. But the man of God said to the king, If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. For so it was commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying, You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came. So he went another way and did not return by the way he came to Bethel. v7
