Valentine is a patron saint of beekeepers and epilepsy, among many other things. 4. You can find Valentine s skull in Rome. 5. Chaucer may have invented Valentine s Day. 6. 2 The Catholic Men s Conference is Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic church, 4000 North Rodney Parham in Little Rock. Registration begins at 7:00 am. The Rosary is at 7:30 am followed by Mass at 7:50 am. We need to be in full Regalia before the Rosary. For registration information, go to Breakfast and lunch is included. The Honor Guard is requested by the Diocese of Little Rock. If you have the new regalia, you may wear it, including the sword and service baldric and white gloves. Dinner Invitation Msgr. 3 The Bishop Byrne Assembly headed up the Keep Christ in Christmas Campaign again this past year which was mentioned during the morning and afternoon traffic reports on The Point 94.1 and The Ride radio stations. Contributors include all Little Rock Councils and the Little Rock and North Little Rock Assemblies. We welcome any other participants in the Central Arkansas area for the 2018 campaign. Grand Knight, Sir Steve Dunne, Outside Guard & Lecturer, Sir John Dixon, and I went to Hot Springs on January 15th and picked up the electric wheel chair from Larry and Vicki Stanley. (Vicki is District Master Newton White s secretary). We wheeled the chair into Sir Leonard s home by 10:30 am that same morning. Leonard and family expressed their sincere thank you for everyone s effort. I jokingly told him, No Wheelies! As we left he was already sitting in his New Wheels, and starting to read the instruction manual. I think he is trying to see if he can Super Charge It. It was great to see a smile on his face. I love his Positive Attitude & Deep Faith. He is an inspiration to us all. Mary Beth, his wife, is such a great loving lady. I did want to give a Shout Out to a few. To our Grand Knight, Steve Dunne, for using his truck and taking off work, to go pick up the chair. To Newton White for getting me in touch with Vicki which led to be able to purchase the almost new chair. To Vicki and Larry Stanley for giving us a great price on the chair which allowed us to pay cash for it. To Father Reaves for allowing us to hold our Chili Supper Fund Raiser in the St. Mary s Parish Hall which gave us the money, along with many private donations, to purchase the chair. To Joe Palmere for all his research of chairs before we found this one and, last but not least for cooking his famous chili. To so many other Knights and those who volunteered their time helping with the Chili Supper and collecting donations. To our State K of C Council and my Brother District Deputies who put out the word for donations in each of their K of C Districts. Last, the Real Thanks actually goes to Sir Leonard himself. He has shown and taught us how you Meet Real Diversity in the Eye...and, with DEEP FAITH and Positive Attitude. We can do ANYTHING AND DEFEAT A HEALTH BEAST! THANKS Brother Sir Leonard!

4 St. Francis House Ministries Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Christmas Social On December 21 at St. Francis House in Little Rock, the Hot Springs Village 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, in conjunction with the VFW Post and other unattached volunteers put on a Christmas Social for the forty-two veterans, 5 veteran s children, 2 St. Francis Interns and 4 St. Francis House staff. Finger foods included sandwiches, party sausages, shrimp, deviled eggs, fruits, vegetable tray, and a variety of desserts and specialty breads. Christmas music was played throughout. Each veteran that gave Mary Erdman a hug received a $10 Wal-Mart gift card. There were 9 door prizes for the men and 4 for the women. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary spearheaded by Judy Brink had a special program with gifts for the family with the 5 children after the main Social. A special thanks to all who provided food for the event. Many people, unable to attend, dropped food off to those who were attending. This was a good evening. Dc Michael will be ordained as a Priest in Little Rock on June 2, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church.

February 25th A 2nd and 3rd Degree Exemplification will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church Parish Hall in El Dorado located at 440 W. Main Street. March 11th A 2nd and 3rd Degree Exemplification will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jonesboro located at 1103 Highland Drive. The next 4th Degree Exemplification will be held on March 10, 2018 in Hot Springs at St. Mary of the Spring Catholic Church. This has always been a successful event and we don t expect anything less this time. Now is the time to begin planning on bringing your candidates to Hot Springs and increase your membership! 12 Star Assembly Qualifications: Publish and distribute to the Assembly membership a minimum of six Assembly Newsletters during the fraternal year. A copy of each newsletter must also be sent (either in print or electronically to the Vice Supreme Master Michael Porter (mjpknight9282@aol.com) Meet the Assembly s membership goal with a net gain of 7% additions over deletions. Complete and submit the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity (#1728), which is due January 31, Complete and submit to your District Master, by April 30, 2018 the To Be a Patriot Award application. Earn the Civic Award by conducting a minimum of four patriotic programs during the fraternal year and reporting those programs to the Supreme Master by June 30, 2018 on the Civic Award application. Complete and submit the Report of Officers Chosen for the Term (#186).

13 Lives Saved In April, 2012, the Hot Springs, Arkansas Council 6419 presented an Ultrasound machine to Change Point Parenting Resource Center. The machine is operated by a technician, Kelly, who works in Little Rock at Children s Hospital. Each week, Kelly has Thursday as a day off, so she volunteers to drive to Hot Springs and donate her time off to Change Point. In 2017, Council 6419 presented Kelly with a gift card of $1,000 to help her defray some of the expenses of travelling to Hot Springs. When we once thanked Kelly for her service, her reply was, God is driving, I am just riding in the passenger seat. The Director of Change Point told us that in the 25 year history of the center, 2,808 babies have been saved. She continued by saying that since they have the ultrasound machine, on average, 55 babies per year have been saved. In 2017, 60 babies were saved. Since 2013, Hot Springs Council 6419 has conducted a Baby Bottle Campaign at both Hot Springs Catholic Churches and at the Catholic Church at Mt. Ida. We raise between $5,500 and $8,500 each year. There are other churches who raise money for Change Point using the Baby Bottle Campaign, including the First Baptist Church in Hot Springs. David Myers serves as The Baby Bottle Campaign Director. David s son, Dayton, plays a large part in the Baby Bottle Campaign. Dayton is also Chief Squire in Circle 5700, Disciples of the Springs. Submitted by Vicki Stanley.

Psalm 139:13-14 (New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition) Under the direction of State Deputy, SK Philip Savage, and the Culture of Life Chair Couple, Dale and Mary Flamand, the Arkansas State Knights of Columbus have been issued a challenge. A challenge that will not only have an impact on the Knights of Columbus organization in our state, but also the residents of our state for generations to come. We are familiar with the Right to Life Campaign, The Right to Life March, The Right to Life Mass, and the Baby Bottle Campaign supporting Pregnancy Resource Centers. We now have an opportunity to provide Right to Life support year round. We can purchase a Stork Bus!!! ( A Stork Bus is a mobile medical unit used as a Pregnancy Resource Center. It has an onboard ultrasound unit and everything needed for pregnancy testing. From the custom and inviting outer graphic wrap to the comfortable and secure interior, it is a place of hope and faith for young women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. The sad fact is that 64% of post-abortive women say they felt abortion was their only choice. Joe Baker, CEO of Save the Storks. As a pro-life organization, we can help women know there is another option anywhere in the state. Our goal is to raise $110, by June 30 th in order to purchase this vehicle. We can do this if each Knight in your council/assembly donates $15.00 each. If this is not possible there are several other fundraising activities. For example, pancake breakfasts, fish fry during lent, spaghetti dinners, raffles, etc. Our knights are resourceful and we can do this. Some of our articles end up in the Bienville Province Newsletter published by our Vice Supreme Master, Michael Porter. Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me Matthew 25:40, 45. On Thursday, May 24, 2018 the Arkansas Special Olympics Summer Games will take place. The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard, has once again, been asked to lead the Parade of Athletics This event takes place at Harding University in Searcy. There will be a light Hors d Oeuvers served at 6:00 p.m. with the parade beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Summer Games continues through Saturday. There will be a Mass on Friday night, followed by a Social Hour, and Dinner.
