2 COUNCIL ACTIVITIES Council Corporate Communion Our Council held a Corporate Communion Mass on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the 9:00 A.M. Mass. The Knights served as Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Gift Bearers and Cantor at this Mass. District 72 Corporate Communion Our Council attended the District 72 Corporate Communion on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the 11:00 A.M.. The Corporate Communion was held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Following the Mass, District 72 had the Installation of Officers for Councils #389, #12258, #13391, #15495 and # Food Pantry Drive Our Council s Food Pantry Drive continues to bring personal care and food items in, to support the Saint Alphonsus Food and Clothing Center. ITEMS OF NEED: Bar Soap Dish Soap Laundry Soap Razors Shave Cream Toothbrushes Tooth Paste Deodorant (Men s/women s) Toilet Paper Canned Fruit Macaroni and Cheese Box Dinners Baby Diapers Baby Formula Baby Wipes Fill the Pick-up Drive: The results of the Fill the Pick-up Drive our council held on May 17, 2015 is as follows. 4 Brother Donald James Freiburger, Sr. June 16, 1925 July 1, 2015 Brother Donald was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Joe and Olive Freiburger. He served his country in World War II with the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Randolph CV-15. Don married the former Dorothy Simon and raised seven children. He spent 14 years as a Grand Rapids Firefighter, before forming the Freiburger Construction Company. He was also the owner of the Hanky Panky Party Store. Don became a First Degree Knight on June 3, 2014 with Council # Although he was not able to attend the meetings or events, he loved to receive the council s and newsletters. Don is survived by his children: Linda & Ken Mork, Maggie & Bob Vugteveen, Jim & Gayle Freiburger, Don Freiburger, Jr., Bob & Marsha Freiburger and Rich & Kim Freiburger.

5 Family in Need Fundraiser The Saint Alphonsus-Seelos Council held a Family in Need Fundraising Drive, after all the Masses at Saint Alphonsus Church, on the weekends of June 27th & 28th and July 4th & 5th. This fundraiser was to help a fellow Knight and Parishioner, whom was in in need of financial assistance due to illness. The members of the council donated $1, The parishioners donated $3, $90.00 was donated from outside the council and parish, for a total of $5, Special thanks to the following Knights who collected funds at Masses for this important fundraiser: Richard Gregurich, Fred Kraemer, Chris Karas, Rodney Cronin, Joe Malleis, Scott Schumaker, Robert Pohl, Keith Hillary, Clifford Kopp, John Yowaish, Matthew Raczkowski, John Kotwick, Phil Van Huffel, Robert Kraemer. 7 Saint Alphonsus Youth Mission Team / Saint Alphonsus-Seelos Council Car Wash The Saint Alphonsus Youth Mission Team and the Saint Alphonsus-Seelos Council partnered up to hold a car wash, for the mission team to complete their fundraising drive for their mission trip to Tennessee. The group washed around 53 cars and raised $ The first $ went to the mission team to complete their fundraising and the remainder was split between the two groups. An additional $255.oo went to the mission team. Our council made $256.oo from this partnership.

8 Aaron Lee Meszaros, C.Ss.R. Aaron, a native son of Saint Alphonsus Parish, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, came home to celebrate his achievements with his parish. On Saturday, July 18, 2015, The Saint Alphonsus Parish hosted The Celebration of Perpetual Profession into the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer for Aaron. This celebration was overseen by The Very Reverend Stephen Rehrauer, C.Ss.R., Provincial of Redemptorists of the Denver Province. On Sunday, July 19, 2015, The Saint Alphonsus Parish hosted The Celebration of Aaron into the Sacred Order of Deacon. This celebration was overseen by The Most Reverend David John Walkowiak, J.C.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Aaron L. Meszaros, C.Ss.R., Rodney G. Cronin, Grand Knight

9 The Saint Alphonsus-Seelos Council presented Aaron with a card for his Final Vows. Aaron was presented with a set of Lectionaries and a card for his Ordination to Deacon.
