1 The Poems of John MacPherson A brother in fellowship at the Monterey assembly in Leola, PA Resurrected Lord Our Lord was to Golgotha led And on a cross was nailed He wore a thorn-crown on His head While mockers cursed and railed God s well beloved Son was He He came to save the lost While hanging on that rugged tree He paid the bitter cost His body then was taken down And placed in Joseph s tomb A stone was placed to seal the grave They thought, to seal His doom Three days that tomb was undisturbed The stone remained in place His false accusers thought they d won But that was not the case Triumphant over death was He He burst forth from that grave Death could not hold God s only Son Who died our souls to save Our Lord is risen from the dead Returned to heaven above

2 His work is finished here below For sinners lost, what love He intercedes for us today Our constant guide is He His death upon that cruel cross From sin has set us free At God s right hand He s seated now Exalted and extolled The crown of thorns has been replaced With heaven s purest gold His suffering days are over now His life has been restored We praise Him for His matchless love Our living blessed Lord We re waiting for His soon return To claim His chosen bride Then we will meet Him in the air The ones for whom He died What will it be to dwell with Him, To see Him face to face To thank Him for salvation free And for His matchless Grace? April, 2000 Joy Unspeakable True joy is found in Christ our Lord Who leads us day by day

3 We are secure and heaven bound This joy is here to stay We should reflect this joy on earth Each day that we are here Rehearsing for that glorious day When Jesus will appear Then there s a joy unspeakable In heaven bright and fair Our joy to be with Christ our Lord His joy that we are there Until that day let s praise the Lord With smiles upon our face We re born again and heaven bound We re trophies of his grace This joy becomes contagious too It shows up on your face As others share this joy with you It works in every case We spread this joy to others too In things we do and say A helping hand in time of need Or with that person, pray Our God is honored when we pray And we are blessed as well So lift your voice and praise the Lord And others of Him tell

4 What can full joy and blessing be To us each passing day? We only have to look to Him And smile, and watch, and pray Just knowing that He loves us so Brings joy and lasting peace This joy can heal a broken heart A joyous song release There is a joy when Christians meet These friends we love to find We need the fellowship of friends Blest be the tie that binds So open up your heart today And give the Lord first place He really is your source of joy He saves us by His grace March 2003 Heaven Our Lord now dwells in heaven above Preparing us a place He purchased us with His own blood We re sinners saved by grace In righteousness we have been clothed Our sins have been forgiven We re ready now to meet our Lord To dwell with Him in heaven

5 The streets are paved with purest gold The gates with pearls are made But best of all, our Lord is there All other things will fade He is the light of that bright place And glory crowns His brow To think that we will be with Him Brings peace and comfort now We ll sing with all the blood-bought saints In perfect harmony We ll worship at our Savior s feet Who died to set us free And then we ll meet our many friends Who live in heaven above All trophies of the grace of God All objects of His love In heaven there will be no sin No sorrow, death or pain We ll have a bran new body there As with our Lord we reign Of course this home is only for All sinners saved by grace Who trusted God s beloved Son Who long to see His face If you are not prepared to go When Jesus comes again You ll be forever lost my friend

6 Accept Him while you can We d love to have you in that choir So trust Him while you may Be ready when He calls His own Perhaps He ll come today February 2002 Love wonderful Love We love to sing these songs of praise To Christ, our Lord and friend He loves to hear our joyful song As hearts and voices blend His love is more than we deserve This love beyond compare Our God who made the universe Agreed His Son to share For God so loved the world that he His only Son did give A ransom for the sinners lost His will that we should live We should have died upon that cross But Jesus took our place His blood has washed our sins away Now that s amazing grace Amazing grace how sweet the sound Our sins are all forgiven Our loving Lord has paid our debt

7 We re on our way to heaven Rock of ages, what a comfort, Sheltered from the stormy blast By a caring loving Saviour All our cares on Him we cast God loves you and He cares for you He ll meet your every need He cares when troubles overwhelm He s there to intercede When sorrows grieve your troubled heart And tear drops fill your eyes Just cast your care upon the Lord He keeps and satisfies His love for those who trust in Him Is comforting for sure His outstretched arm will never fail A blessing to secure We ve proved Him, Oh so many times When trials came our way We ve cast our every care on Him He turned our night to day Our hearts o erflow with love to Him We lift our voice in praise Some day we ll see our loving Lord And on His face we ll gaze Until we hear that final call

8 To meet Him in the air Let s sing of Jesus and His love None with Him can compare February 2007 The Savior Knows and Cares The Savior knows our every thought The problems of our life He s there to help if we but ask To ease our pain and strife The Savior knows our loneliness He too was left alone When hanging on that rugged cross For sin, but not His own The Savior knows our heartaches too And He is by our side To comfort us and care for us On Him we can confide The Savior knows when we are grieved When we are feeling low When we have lost our dearest friend His love to us He ll show The Savior knows our strain and stress Our doubting and our fears His outstretched arm is always there To wipe away those tears The Savior knows our troubling thoughts

9 He knows our haunting fears About the weakening of our frame Throughout our latter years Our Savior is sufficient for Whatever we may face Remember He is in control And He s a God of grace Our Savior is preparing us A better place to be And all these problems that we face Will all be history We ll gaze upon our Savior s face We ll praise Him night and day For all that He has done for us Our sins are washed away. August 2007 Marvelous Grace We re living in God s day of Grace His Grace to sinful men The door is open wide today For us to enter in By Grace we re saved through faith in Christ God s gift to you and me It s not by works that we have done By Grace we now are free Our God who made the universe

10 Who put those stars in place Has sent His Son to rescue us Now that s amazing grace Without God s grace we would be doomed We d be forever lost Twas grace that held our Lord that day Upon that shameful cross We are unworthy of such grace That God should send His Son To bear our punishment for sin But victory He has won We often sing Amazing Grace That fact my friend is true How could God send His only Son To die for me and you? We do not always do God s will We step out on our own Our God by grace will bring us back We ll never be alone Now we can sing Amazing Grace Our sins forever gone So wear a smile upon your face By Grace we ll carry on Let s count our blessings every day Give God the honored place And lift our voice in cheerful song And sing Amazing Grace

11 Praise God for His amazing grace Praise Him for His dear Son Praise Him who took our sin away His work that saves is done In heaven is our inheritance It fadeth not away Reserved for us and kept for us Till that unclouded day That cloudless day is coming soon When we shall see His face We ll cast our crowns before our Lord And praise Him for His Grace September, 2007 Praise the Lord Tonight we re thankful for our Lord He s worthy of our praise God s well beloved Son is He Our voice to Him we raise We re thankful for His finished work To cleanse and make us whole He died a shameful death for us To save our sin-sick soul This holy one who died for us Deserves our constant praise Together we can worship Him Through everlasting days

12 Exalted now to God s right hand And precious to us here We lift our voice to worship Him His loving voice to hear He promised to be with us here As in His name we meet We praise Him and we thank Him for The work He did complete The burden of our sin is gone He bore that on the tree A benefit indeed is this Our Savior set us free His Spirit dwells within us now Our constant friend is he Revealing secrets in His Word Our eyes once blind now see We now have everlasting life Salvation full and free Communion with our blessed Lord Things cannot sweeter be He really must have loved us so With love beyond compare To think that He has promised us A home with Him up there We re looking for His soon return That meeting in the air

13 When we will join that heavenly choir My Friend will you be there? November, 2007 Happy People We re gathered here to praise our Lord A happy time indeed A time to sing about His love And how He meets our need We lift our voice in joyful praise To God s beloved Son He came to earth to die for us His work that saves is done As joyfully we harmonize With hymns we love to sing About the Savior we adore The courts of heaven ring We should reflect this joy on earth Each day that we are here Rehearsing for that glorious day When Jesus will appear Until that day, let s praise the Lord With smiles upon our face We re born again and heaven bound We re trophies of His grace This joy becomes contagious too It shows up on our face

14 As others share this joy with us It works in every case The grace of God is wonderful So rich, so full, so free We praise the author of that grace He rescued you and me We re looking for His soon return And singing while we wait What joy twill be to meet our Lord And enter heaven s gate And then we ll join that heavenly choir A happy, joyful throng So let s rehearse while here below My friend, it wont be long So open up your heart today And give the Lord first place He really is our source of joy He saved us by His grace. March 2008 Showers of Blessing Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:8,15,21,31) There shall be showers of blessing Is a hymn that we all love to sing Reminding us who is the sender To Him all our praises we bring

15 Our God in his infinite greatness Sends all of those blessings our way So we can respond with our voices Our song will bring life to our day We long for these showers of blessing That come from our God up above He meets all our needs when we trust Him You see He s the author of love His love comes upon us like showers His mercies are new every day We do not deserve all these blessings They come while we watch and we pray We never could count all our blessings The comfort, the heath and the joy A wonderful home in the country With neighbors and friends we enjoy The cloudbursts are also a blessing To give us abundance of food So much is dependent on rain drops These showers of blessing are good The flowers we see in the spring time Are a blessing for us to behold A wonderful lift for our spirits After all of the snow and the cold The God who controls all these showers The blessings that come to His own

16 Has promised never to leave us Never to leave us alone At the head of the list of blessings Is salvation, a gift from above God sent us His Son to redeem us To die in our place, oh what love! By grace we are showered with blessings From a God who s aware of our need We find all these blessings recorded When we open our Bible and read In response to these showers of blessing Our voices together we raise We give God the glory and honor We offer Him worship and praise June 2, 2008 Jesus is Coming again Our Lord now dwells in heaven above Preparing us a place He purchased us with His own blood We re sinners saved by grace In righteousness we have been clothed Our sins have been forgiven We re ready now to meet our Lord To dwell with Him in heaven Our Lord has promised to return

18 In heaven there will be no more sin No sorrow, death or pain We ll have a bran new body there As with our Lord we reign If you are not prepared to go When Jesus comes again You ll be forever lost my friend Accept Him while you can We d love to have you in that choir So trust Him while you may Be ready when He calls His own Perhaps He ll come today August 2008 John 14:2-3 Prayer It s always great to have a friend A friend who s always there Who asks us to confide in Him And talk to Him in prayer This friend is Jesus Christ our Lord And He will answer prayer He knows our needs before we ask With Him, none can compare He is a guide who knows the way He knows just what we need He shines His light upon the path

19 He is a friend indeed Each morning as we wake from sleep Before we start our day Just ask Him to direct our path And let Him lead the way If you are lonely and depressed And really need a friend He ll be there for you when you pray On Him you can depend So cast your every care on Him Give Him the honored place For us he wants the very best He s right in every case So when you pray to Him each day Just pray, Thy will be done And all your problems will be solved Your battles will be won Give God the honor He deserves Consult Him every day And follow Him where e er He leads My friend, He knows the way Tomorrow is election day And we must make a choice We need to know the will of God We need to hear His voice So make your choice to honor Him

20 And He will honor you In every choice we have to make The Lord will see us through Thanksgiving day will soon be here A time for thankful prayer For all the blessings we enjoy For constant love and care Let s thank Him too for answered prayers Let s thank Him for His love Until we reach our heavenly home Prepared for us above. November, 2008 Unspeakable Gift 2 Corinthians 9:15 We have a Gift unspeakable All wrapped up in God s love This gift is free to everyone God s gift from heaven above This gift was sent by God himself To cleanse us from our sin God s Son became spotless Lamb Our sinful souls to win This gift from God was undefiled No sin in Him was found Our precious Savior is that Gift Well may our praise resound

21 This gift is God s beloved Son Our Advocate and King The Author of salvation s plan Our praise to Him we bring This gift was nailed upon a cross In agony and shame He took the guilty sinner s place My friend, He took the blame This gift is risen from the grave Exalted now on high We re thankful for this perfect gift We ll meet Him in the sky We lift our voice in praise to Him God s gift, His spotless Son His blood has washed our sins away Now we with Him are one.
