3 Gentlemen, GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE First and foremost, I want to wish you a Happy New Year. I would like to introduce myself as your new Grand Knight (GK). As you may know Mike Colosi is assuming, responsibilities as the District Deputy (DD) and the council has elected me Grand Knight for the remainder of our Fraternal Year, which will end in July I am honored to support you all and our council s functions. I am committed to you, and the success of our efforts to serve our communities, parishes, and our organization. I understand that the Grand Knight is responsible for the overall welfare of the council and my role as Grand Knight is provide thoughtful and inspired leadership to the council officers, service program directors, chairmen and members of the council. This I intend to do with your support. My professional background consists of over 18 years of military service; trained to provide direct and organizational leadership; using the latest standard technologies; with an emphasis on people skills, when interacting with diverse personnel, at all levels within an organization. Regarding my standings as a Roman Catholic, I have received five of our seven sacraments; my children have received all sacraments expected for their age; and I Page 3 of 14 attend mass at Saint Michael, in Olympia. Father Jim Lee married me and my wife at Saint Michael s Saint Joseph Chapel. I own a home in east Olympia, and spend most of my time in Lacey so I do feel a connection to our local communities. As you might already know, I am a 4th Degree Knight. As a council member and officer, I have supported the Forty Days for Life campaign, Monastery Work Day, Olympia, the Special Olympics Tootsie Roll fundraiser in Lacey and Olympia, the Community Kitchen in Olympia, Habitat for Humanity in Lacey, and Council 1643 Knights of Columbus events and lesser projects. I have been an Inside Guard since my arrival and had very short term as Deputy Grand Knight following Deputy Grand Knight Randy Kinsey s job transfer to Germany. For the remaining of our calendar year, we will continue to carry out all planned projects and events expected by our council such as support for Forty Days for Life, meetings, planned events, and community support. We are fortunate that our DD Mike Colosi is a standing member of our council and a council trustee, so we will have continuity in support of my efforts. I am also very fortunate to be a part of a council, with you as members. Many of you provide our council with a treasure of knowledge and experience of which I will humbly ask for you to share. What I will initiate is a renewed effort to reconnect with our whole council and continue to grow our membership.

4 GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE (cont) Of the 322 active members in our council, I understand that about 10% of us attend meetings regularly. I realize no one joined the knights to just attend meetings. However, I want to ensure all our members are getting needed information and updates from our organization, so they will have an opportunity to support our first principle, Charity and have a voice in our organization. There are so many worthwhile projects we support, but I want to know what your thoughts are about new projects. I also want communities; who can we recognize the Knight of the Month or the Family of the Month. I m here to support YOU, our members, who support our communities and the people within. I would like to acknowledge and thank the following Knights of Columbus for scheduled events in December 2017: Keith Underwood and his team: Community Kitchen support John Zyrkowski and his team: Drexel House support Sam Pellegrino and his team: 2017 Christmas Party catering Knights before Christmas volunteers: Christmas party set up Knights before Christmas volunteers: delivering Christmas trees to 20 needy families Our donut sales support team at Saint Michael Our council officers, who give their time throughout the month for the council Lastly, I would like to highlight extraordinary events planned for this month.
