Highlights include a tech session and tour of DeWayne Ashmead s fabulous car collection at Meadowbrook Restorations in Kaysville on Saturday January 29 (see article on p. 5). This summer there will again be our annual concours in Park City in cooperation with the Bonneville Austin- Healey Club. The tradition of Hallowe en and Christmas parties will of course be continued, as will several driving and social get togethers. See p. 8 for a complete listing. The club Happy Holidays And Best Wishes For 2011 Your WMJR Officers website will be kept up to day as details change, so keep your eye on that resource. This newsletter is going to press just before this year s Christmas party, which is described on page 3. If you read this before then, it won t be too late to join in even unannounced! Club officers for 2010 have all agreed to serve another year, so the roster shown on p. 8 is unchanged for Dues for 2011 are due. Send a check for $50 payable to WMJR to John Green, P. O. 2 Member Profile: Bud and Betty Merritt By Liz Green This issue s Member Profile features two long time club members, Bud and Betty Merritt. Bud was born in Kansas City but grew up in Oklahoma. Bud s dad worked for oil companies. Bud went to schools in Oklahoma. He came to Utah after high school and went to the University of Utah where he graduated with a BFA in Architecture and retired from there as well. Bud has one living sister and one who has passed on. Betty was born in Denver and grew up in Wyoming. Betty s dad worked for the BLM studying frozen river ice. She went to schools in Wyoming. She came to Utah after high school and went to the University of Utah where she graduated with a degree in education. She taught special education in junior high. Betty is retired also. Betty has 1 living sister and a brother who has passed on. Bud and Betty met in Casper, Wyoming at the Presbyterian church they both attended. Bud and Betty have two children, a son who lives in Montana and has two boys. Their daughter lives in Alaska and has two girls. They had two dogs. One was a beloved springer Page 2 spaniel named Sable and the other was an adopted dog named Smokie Joe who found his way onto their porch. Both have passed on. Betty loves to spin her own wool. She has a spinning wheel, gets her wool from people who belong to the Utah Wool Growers Assoc. She cards the wool and then spins it on her spinning wheel. Bud loves to work on his cars and loves antique mission furniture. He also makes his own wine. They go to antique shows around the country when they can. They have lived in the same house for 43 years. They will be celebrating their 50 TH wedding anniversary on December 28 th. Way to go you two!! They have four jaguar cars two working and two in pieces. Bud and Betty have been in the club since its beginning. They add much wisdom and fun to our club.

5 Page 5 January Tech Session With BMCU At Meadowbrook Restorations Kaysville, UT The January tech session will be held at Meadowbrook Restorations on Saturday the 29th at 10:00 am. DeWayne Ashmead has a very interesting collection of cars that is old/newer, restored/original and muscle car/one of a kind. If you have not been here before, take the Kaysville exit 328 and go west.. You will be on 200 North. There is a light at the bottom of the new railroad overpass, go through the light and at the next stop sign (Angel Street about 1/2mile down 200 north) you will see Meadowbrook Restorations right in front of you. The enteance is normally open on the north side of the parking lot in front of the large metal building. The address is 181 North Angel Street. Hopefully we will have a good showing for the BMCU s third tour of this fabulous collection and facility. I hope to see everyone there and have a good day! 6 Page 6 Tata Motors 2Q Profit Up 100-fold Detroit Free Press News Services Nov. 10, 2010 Tata Motors, the Mumbai-based owner of Jaguar Land Rover, boosted second quarter profit more than 100-fold as a global economic recovery spurred demand for luxury sedans and SUVs. Consolidated net income rose to 22.2 billion rupees ($501 million) in the three months ended in September from 218 million rupees a year earlier, the company said Tuesday in a statement. This beat the 17.1 billion rupee average of 10 analysts estimates compiled by Bloomberg News. Sales rose 36% to billion rupees. Jaguar Land Rover sales jumped 43% to billion rupees as increasing job security stoked demand for $72,000 Jaguar XJ sedans in the U.S. and China. Profit at Tata Motors, excluding Jaguar Land Rover and other units, declined 41% to 4.33 billion rupees, trailing the 5.14 billion rupee average of 19 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Last month, the automaker raised prices of the Nano, the world s cheapest car, by as much as 7% or 9,000 rupees. Tata opened a factory in June that may make as many as 350,000 Nanos a year. [Shares in] Tata, run by Carl- Peter Forster, the former European head of General Motors, was little changed at 1,269.9 rupees in Mumbai Tuesday.
