8 1) Kenneth & Elizabeth Breeze; children buried parents' ashes in 2006 on their land in Rich's Cove, the place they loved most. 2) Stanley Dodge listed in U.S. Veterans Gravesites database as buried in Dodge Cemetery on Isle au Haut. Family confirmed Stanley s cremation; ashes scattered on the Island. 3) Charles Hamly ashes scattered in Rich s Cove at low tide. 4) Only vital records located to date is for George W. born in 1847 to William & Octavia Kimball. Note on the monument, if transcribed correctly, states erected in 1844, which would preclude it being this George W. Needs more research. 5) These Rich family graves are located just outside fenced Rich Cemetery with a bare, shaped stone without identification. Names listed are of persons suspected to be buried here, but unconfirmed at this time. 6) Llewellyn Rich and his wife & daughter are also buried just outside the fenced Rich Cemetery. 7) This Robertson family is listed in various vital & census records as Robison - Robinson Robbinson Robertson. James & Spencer Robertson/Robinson share same father, different mothers. 8) These Robinson/Staples death dates from Deer Isle/Isle au Haut vital records. Review of gravestones needed to hopefully resolve date conflict created by old Ellsworth Newspaper transcription stating: January 6, 1865 edition; Deaths; Isle au Haut, of diphtheria, Dec. 10 (1864), Sarah STAPLES, age 25 years; Dec. 11, Frederick, age 4 years wife and child of Arno Staples; also Dec. 11, Abigail Robinson, of same disease, sister of the above and daughter of Capt. Spencer Robinson, age 26 years. 9) Note on Island records for Spencer states moved to Rockland yet cannot locate as transferred to Rockland in their cemetery records. There are conflicting death dates. Date used based on will dated July 1891, state vital record listing 1893, probate opened January Gravestone reportedly lists 1893 but this needs confirmation. 10) Records interchange Robertson & Robinson as surname occasionally Robbinson - although same individual. 11) Rebecca Sholes is listed in some records as "Stoles". 12) David Skolnikoff buried just outside Small Cemetery on Skolnikoff property. 13) Albert W. Small has conflict death dates of 29 March and 29 May, both Needs further research. * Date of birth from vital records, confirmed by census record ages & other family-specific data. This leaves "age at death" entry for individual in question requiring future research. Database reflects all identified burials on Isle au Haut, with other known graves, if they can be identified, to be added in the future. This reflects the best information at this time based on numerous & varied old records. New information is welcome and can be sent to Isle au Haut Historical Society c/o Charles F. Turner at cfturner@juno.com 2009 Edition
