Duard is listed as the unknown due to his rebellious spirit which led him to lead an outlaw's life and run with the Butch Cassidy gang for a short while. He was either hung or shot for stealing horses in Goldfield, Nevada. My grandfather, Melvin LeRoy was the son of Olive. I would like to know if anyone has any information on Duard, realizing of course he was disowned. I was hoping someone had something. Where can I get this information.

Yes my grandather was Melvin LeRoy Burt. Thank you. It is my understanding that he was outcast from the family because of his dealings with the law. Apparantly he was hung or shot for horse stealing. She said she is certain that he was 17 years old when he was killed in Goldfield, Nevada for horse thieving. He was the youngest of the 's in that family. He was born about 1886, I'm guessing in Mayfield since the siblings before him were born in Mayfield, Utah. Although my mother says there is a possibility he was born in Parawan or Junction, Utah. Apparantly, due to his negative affiliations, some of which were with the Butch Cassiday gang, his mother had any record that she could get ahold of destroyed. My grandparents, Lucille and LeRoy Burt even went to Goldfield's cemetary to try to find his grave or information about him. I though his name might be Duart rather than Duard, but my mother insists it is Duard. She apparantly had an aunt that spoke of him frequently. That is all the information I can muster up from my mother. I even wrote to an author who researched the gang hoping he might have information on the small, temporary gang members, but I haven't heard anything from him.
