VOLUNTEERING FOR ROSTER DUTIES AT ALL SAINTS All Saints is an active congregation due, for the most part, to the work of many volunteers. We only have two paid members of staff, everything else that happens in the life of our Church is reliant on volunteers. Unfortunately a number of people who have assisted with duties related to Sunday worship are no longer able to help so there are many gaps to be filled on the rosters for February to April we have no Door Stewards for a number of Sundays and no Welcomer during February and March. Also, sadly, if we have no volunteers for Morning Tea Duty on a particular Sunday there will be no morning tea served on that day. Thank you to everyone who has filled in one or more spaces on the roster. Please do take time to look at the Duty Roster posted on the Hall door, consider how you could help at least once during the next three months and add your name to the list. Rhondda Tilbrook

4 - GETTING TO KNOW OUR FRIENDSHIP GROUPS AND THEIR LEADERS Do you know how many fascinating people there are at All Saints? Until we joined a friendship group we had little idea what a remarkable group of people we have in the congregation. Our members have great stories to tell. Friendship groups provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other. Over several years we have met 40 or 50 people we now consider as friends. Many of them we would not have come to know simply through morning tea after church. In 1996 when the Forum church and All Saints joined together in the present building the history of the Forum Methodist Church Adventure in Faith was published. The following is an extract - "In the late 1970 s Rev Geoff Blyth introduced the idea of Friendship Groups. These groups were formed to encourage fellowship and a friendly spirit amongst the members by meeting regularly in a social environment. Because it was purely social it encouraged members partners who did not attend church to take the opportunity to meet and get to know others in the church. Each group, consisting of a convener and members, met about every six weeks and members took it in turn to plan the next activity. These activities were as diverse as the interests of each group member. This arrangement continued without break until the present time." Again members have been shuffled, new members added and groups reformed. Groups will still meet every 6 or so weeks. There is no set agenda. Each group chooses the activities. Shared lunch or afternoon tea in a home or in a park is a particularly enjoyed activity with time to chat and get to know each other. Sometimes a group will go out for breakfast, or lunch, or to a concert, or the Art Gallery. Each group has a leader, probably more accurately a coordinator, who keeps an eye on things and helps out when needed. Otherwise the group is in charge of its own destiny. The group leaders are: Jean and Graeme Read, Geoff and Lillian Hadley, John and Verelle Ward, Deborah Marshall and Helen Lilly. The Wards found in the welcome and sense of belonging through the friendship groups something they believe other congregations should copy. The Hadleys wish they had joined earlier as these friendships have so enriched their lives. If you are relatively new to the congregation - we d love you to join us. I f you have been here a long time and would like to join or rejoin and meet some newer members we would love to see you. If you d like to join us please speak to any one of the above leaders or contact Lillian Hadley on You will be most welcome. Your Retiring Offering today will go to UnitingAid Uniting Aid, which has been operated by the Uniting Church since 1981, provides practical assistance, financial and other support to people in need living in Balga, Mirrabooka, Nollamara, Westminster or elsewhere in the City of Stirling. A number of members of our church have been actively working and supporting UnitingAid for many years now and they see and know only too well the value of the support of the All Saints congregation. ANOTHER DATE FOR THE DIARY! FASHION PARADE There will be a Fashion Show on 17 th March at St. Stephens School, the proceeds will go towards support for Papuan projects. It will be a fun afternoon and Postie Fashions will donate ten per cent of all purchases. There will be an Afternoon Tea and Door Prizes. Posties clothing ranges from size 6 to 24 and the organisers are looking for models, especially in the upper size ranges No experience necessary. Please let Lee-Anne Burnett know if you can help. Tickets are donation of $5 or more. It will be a fun dress up occasion so don t forget to note it in your diary! A weekend of story telling, art, music and spirituality at Margaret River Uniting Church The Deep Listening Festival will be held from Friday 6 to Saturday 7 April at Margaret River Uniting Church. The festival will be a weekend of storytelling, art, music and spirituality, while taking the time to listen and engage with people from the edges of society. See the latest issue of Revive for more information and for booking details Have you been wondering where the Honour Box has gone!
