The unselfsh and effectve work done by the Near East Relef should appeal to every person n our Town. Snce the dose of the World War the Near East Relef has saved over one and onehalf mllons from death, ncludng two hundred thousand chldren. A great number of orphan chldren are wthout food, clothng and shelter, ready to succumb to the famne and pestlence whch stalks n the wake of the World War, unless help s forthcomng. These lttle ones are helpless through no fault ot ther own, and Surely, as we st by our comfortable fresdes durng these cold wnter evenngs, the thought of lttle chldren hungry, shelterless and poorly clothed, should nspre us to contrbute to tho Near East Relef. realze that many and worthy demands are beng made upon our people, but I know that Westfeld has always been ready to help the poor and the needy, and I sncerely hope that all wll freely gve to the Near East Relef and thereby rescue many lttle ones whose lot has been thrown n lands afflcted by pestlence and famne. In a most nterestng and entertanng manner, Mrs. Watts traced the tales and stores for chldren from the" earlest Probably rery few people know that some of the fary tales and Mother Goose rhymes have come down to us, changng slghtly n form, from Egyptan cvlzaton and Indan folk lore. But at no tme have the chldren had such opportunty for securng books wrtten about and for lttle folks as the present day. Mrs. Watts sad, "Ths s the chld's age." Dckens v» the frst author who made chldren mportant characters n hs books. Of course, there are many books, some good and some very poor. The chld of today should not only be encouraged to read, but should be taught to select the good, worth whle books and should know the author of every book he reads. The chld should be urged to read the chldren's classcs, those splendd books tkat have had an appeal for a(r~ages, a classc beng a book ever old but»lways new. After a short busness meetng. Montague Mller entertaned wth two pano selectons. Tea wns served durng the socal hour followng the meetng. Mss Apgar's class won the attendance record for the day.
