3 Gary, Frankly Speaking, Headset Not Connected As have many of you, I have enjoyed the mild spring weather which we have experienced. It has given me the opportunity to enjoy sitting on my back porch in the early evening and watching the planes depart and land at DFW. When I come home in the afternoon I change clothes and recharge my phone, placing it on the stand beside my bed. However, I sometimes forget to remove the Bluetooth headset from my ear. The first time that happened I was sitting in the patio chair and tilted my head just a bit to the left, prompting the voice on my headset to say, Phone 1 disconnected. Headset not connected. After a few minutes I got up and moved back toward the kitchen door causing the voice to say, Headset connected. How I wish it were that clear when I move away from God. Sometimes we are defiantly disobedient in our walk. We clearly know that a particular behavior is contrary to God s will, but we do it anyway. We know that the headset is not connected. We have chosen not to hear the voice of God. There are other times, though, when the move away from God is much more subtle. We may skip our daily prayer time or leave our Bible unread for extended periods. Our church attendance may become lackadaisical. Ever so slowly and subtly, we move away from God; and if a clear signal were to say, You ve moved too far from God, we might quickly jump back into range. As Christians we do have a voice that tells us how close we are to God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit quietly prompts us to pursue an ever-deepening love relationship with God. Sometimes the Spirit acts through the simple promptings of our conscience dissuading us from certain bad behaviors. At other times the Spirit stirs emotions deep within us to move us toward worship or prayer. No matter how the Spirit speaks to you, the most important thing is to stay connected. Carol and I are so very grateful to each of you for your tremendous outpouring of love at our final worship services and retirement luncheon, and the love offering will be a tremendous help in our transition to retired status. But most of all, we will continue to remember the marvelous and miraculous work that God did during our time at 106. It is our prayer that during this time of transition and after Steve s arrival you will continue to stay connected to God. Rob Richards joined the FUMC Euless family 5/6/12. Erin Tabor joined the FUMC Euless family on 5/6/12. Discipleship Journey It is our responsibility as a church to do all we can do to equip and enable persons on their lifelong spiritual journeys. To effectively accomplish this, we must have a Discipleship plan - an intentional process through which we guide persons, moving them from knowing God, to growing in relationship with God, to going forth with God serving others and then witnessing and sharing their faith. Robert & Sandra Casalvera joined the FUMC Euless family 5/6/12. WATCH FOR EXCITING DETAILS COMING SOON!
