Kenneth Chancey DARE TO DREAM AWARD Kenneth moved into Union Rescue Mission as a sophomore in high school with his sister Stephanie and father after experiencing homelessness for years. The rest, as they say, is history. Tommy Lasorda SPORTSMAN AWARD Tommy was instrumental in introducing our Hope Garden s Family Center to the world and has also assisted us with our Christmas Store since his duties as the coach of the Dodgers. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas HUMANITARIAN AWARD Supervisor Second District, County of Los Angeles. Brittany Stringfellow Otey LYMAN STEWART FOUNDERS AWARD Brittany has lead the cause of justice for many years at Union Rescue Mission by lifting the weight of legal woes off the shoulders of Union Rescue Mission guests.

4 Alfonso Ribeiro Emcee & Musical Guest As the new host of America s Funniest Home Videos, actor, TV director, award-winning dancer, and Broadway star, Alfonso Ribeiro has spent more than 30 years leaving his unique mark on the worlds of television, theater and beyond. Ribeiro began his career as a child actor, most notably on Broadway, playing the lead role in the Tonywinning musical The Tap Dance Kid. After earning a Theater Arts education from Cal State University, he was given the opportunity to choose a role on the established sitcom A Different World or a new pilot called The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Showing an adventurous streak, he chose the latter and created the memorable character of Carlton Banks opposite another teen idol, Will Smith, for six seasons. Having grown up in front of the camera, Alfonso knew that opportunities existed behind the scenes, too. His impressive resume as a TV director includes popular programs like In The House, Shake It Up, Are We There Yet?, The Wannabes, Meet The Browns, Cuts, Eve, One on One and All of Us. Alfonso enjoys non-competitive racecar driving, playing competitive golf, and spending time with his wife and three children.

6 126 YEARS OF GREATER HEALING One hundred twenty six years ago Lyman Stewart, president of Union Oil Company, founded Union Rescue Mission and sent gospel wagons to offer food, clothing, and salvation to lost souls. It was a singular vision to love and welcome struggling people on the streets, and to never give up on anyone until they get back on their feet. That vision has not changed. Today at least 47,000 people in Los Angeles have no place to call home every night. Half of them are women and children. They are in dire need of mental health care to recover from past abuse and crippling trauma; medical and dental treatment; education and help finding jobs. They need time and help to find affordable housing and to know they are loved and that they still matter. Union Rescue Mission provides all of these services under one roof. Some of our recent milestones include: Expanded our cold and wet weather shelter into Year Round Emergency Shelter giving over 200 men and women shelter per night on temporary cots Became the only emergency shelter that accepts single women and families with children Union Rescue Mission S.
