1 Jesus Christ is a God of Justice, Judgment and the Judge of All Because Jesus Christ is Just He is able to exercise a fair and righteous judgment. The Lord gives commandments to His children to follow His example and live the Eternal Law to be Just in all things. When we are Justified in our actions-acting correctly, and righteously the Holy Ghost will abide with us. To be just is to be honest 2 Nephi 1:10 God is Just Behold, I say, if the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of Him that is just shall rest upon them. See 2 Nephi 1:22 The Judgments of God are always Just 2 Nephi 26:7 O the pain, and the anguish of my soul for the loss of the slain of my people! For I, Nephi, have seen it, and it well nigh consumeth me before the presence of the Lord; but I must cry unto my God: Thy ways are Just. Alma 12:15 And acknowledge to our everlasting shame that all His Judgments are Just; that He is Just in all his works Alma 42:15 And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an Atonement should be made; therefore God Himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a Perfect, Just God, and a Merciful God also. 1

3 Justice and Judgment D&C 1:36 And also the Lord shall have power over His saints, and shall reign in their midst, and shall come down in Judgment upon Idumea, or the world. See 133:2; Omni 1:7; 2 Nephi 12:4 D&C 3:4 For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a Just God upon him. D&C 19:3 And the last Great Day of Judgment, which I shall pass upon the inhabitants thereof, judging every man according to his works and the deeds which he hath done. D&C 82:4 Ye call upon my name for revelations, and I give them unto you; and inasmuch as ye keep not my sayings, which I give unto you, ye become transgressors; and Justice and Judgment are the penalty which is affixed unto My Law. D&C 84:102 Glory, and honor, and power, and might, be ascribed to our God; for He is full of mercy, Justice, grace and truth, and peace, Forever and ever, Amen. Se D&C 109:77; Moses 6:61 D&C 88:40.Justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; Judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things. D&C 88:92 Prepare ye, prepare ye, O inhabitants of the earth; for the judgment of our God is come. See D&C 99:5 D&C 97:2: Verily, verily I say unto you, blessed are such, for they shall obtain; for I, the Lord, show mercy unto all the meek, and upon all whomsoever I will, that I may be justified when I shall bring them unto Judgment. D&C107:84 Thus, none shall be exempted from the Justice and the Laws of God, that all things may be done in order and in solemnity before him, according to truth and righteousness. 1 Nephi 10:

4 Therefore remember, O man, for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into Judgment. Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation, then ye are found unclean before the Judgment-Seat of God; and no unclean thing can dwell with God; wherefore, ye must be cast off forever. 1 Nephi 15:30, 33 And I said unto them that our father also saw that the Justice of God did also divide the wicked from the righteous. Wherefore, if they should die in their wickedness they must be cast off also, as to the things which are spiritual, which are pertaining to righteousness; wherefore, they must be brought to stand before God, to be judged of their works; and if their works have been filthiness they must needs be filthy; and if they be filthy it must needs be that they cannot dwell in the kingdom of God; if so, the kingdom of God must be filthy also. 2 Nephi 9:15 And it shall come to pass that when all men shall have passed from this first death unto life, insomuch as they have become immortal, they must appear before the Judgment-Seat of the Holy One of Israel; and then cometh the Judgment, and then must they be judged according to the Holy Judgment of God. Mosiah 2:38-39 Therefore if that man repenteth not, and remaineth and dieth an enemy to God, the demands of Divine Justice do awaken his immortal soul to a lively sense of his own guilt, which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord, and doth fill his breast with guilt, and pain, and anguish, which is like an unquenchable fire, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever. And now I say unto you, that mercy hath no claim on that man. Mosiah 3:10 (Angel s words to King Benjamin) And He shall rise the third day from the dead; and behold, He standeth to Judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous Judgment might come upon the children of men. Mosiah 3:24-27 (a/a) And thus saith the Lord: They shall stand as a bright testimony against this people, at the Judgment Day; whereof they shall be judged, every man according to his works, whether they be good, or whether they be evil. And if they be evil they are consigned to an awful view of their own guilt and abominations, which doth cause them to shrink from the presence of the Lord into a state of misery and endless torment, from whence they can no more return; therefore they have drunk damnation to their own souls. Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no more deny unto them than it could deny that Adam should fall because of his partaking of the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever. And their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever. Thus hath the Lord commanded me. Amen. 4

5 Mosiah 15:26-27 But behold, and fear, and tremble before God, for ye ought to tremble; for the Lord redeemeth none such that rebel against him and die in their sins..therefore ought ye not to tremble? For salvation cometh to none such; for the Lord hath redeemed none such; yea, neither can the Lord redeem such; for He cannot deny Himself; for He cannot deny Justice when it has its claim. Mosiah 27:31 Yea, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess before Him. Yea, even at the last day, when all men shall stand to be Judged of Him, then shall they confess that He is God; then shall they confess, who live without God in the world, that the Judgment of an everlasting punishment is just upon them; and they shall quake, and tremble, and shrink beneath the glance of his all-searching eye. See 1 Nephi 15:33 Alma 12:15 But this cannot be; we must come forth and stand before Him in His glory, and in His Power, and in His Might, Majesty, and Dominion, and acknowledge to our everlasting shame that all His Judgments are just; that He is Just in all His works, and that He is merciful unto the children of men, and that He has all power to save every man that believeth on His name and bringeth forth fruit meet for repentance. See Alma 9:11 Alma 12:32 For on such the Plan of Redemption could have no power, for the works of Justice could not be destroyed, according to the supreme goodness of God. Alma 33:22 then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that He will come to redeem His people, and that He shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that He shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before Him, to be Judged at the Last and Great Judgment Day, according to their works. Alma 42:13 Therefore, according to justice, the Plan of Redemption could not be brought about, only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, yea, this preparatory state; for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of Justice. Now the work of Justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would cease to be God. Alma 42:22-25 But there is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and a repentance granted; which repentance, mercy claimeth; otherwise, Justice claimeth the creature and executeth the law, and the law inflicteth the punishment; if not so, the works of Justice would be destroyed, and God would cease to be God..And the resurrection of the dead bringeth back 5

6 men into the presence of God; and thus they are restored into his presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the Law and Justice. For behold, Justice exerciseth all his demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved. What, do ye suppose that mercy can rob justice? I say unto you, nay; not one whit. If so, God would cease to be God. See Alma 12:12; Mosiah 16:10 Alma 60:13 For the Lord suffereth the righteous to be slain that His Justice and Judgment may come upon the wicked; therefore ye need not suppose that the righteous are lost because they are slain; but behold, they do enter into the Rest of the Lord their God. *3 Nephi 27:14-18, 20, Even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil- And for this cause have I been lifted up; therefore, according to the power of the Father I will draw all men unto me, that they may be judged according to their works. And it shall come to pass, that whoso repenteth and is baptized in my name shall be filled; and if he endureth to the end, behold, him will I hold guiltless before my Father at that day when I shall stand to judge the world. And he that endureth not unto the end, the same is he that is also hewn down and cast into the fire, from whence they can no more return, because of the Justice of the Father. Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day. For behold, out of the books which have been written, and which shall be written, shall this people be judged, for by them shall their works be known unto men. And behold, all things are written by the Father; therefore out of the books which shall be written shall the world be judged. And know ye that ye shall be judges of this people, according to the Judgment which I shall give unto you, which shall be just. Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am. See 2 Nephi 29:11; Alma 5:15 Mormon 3:20 And these things doth the Spirit manifest unto me; therefore I write unto you all. And for this cause I write unto you, that ye may know that ye must all stand before the Judgment- Seat of Christ, yea, every soul who belongs to the whole human family of Adam; and ye must stand to be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil. Mormon 7:6-7 And he bringeth to pass the Resurrection of the dead, whereby man must be raised to stand before his Judgment-Seat. And he hath brought to pass the Redemption of the World, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the Judgment Day hath it given unto him to dwell in the presence of God in His Kingdom. 6

7 Mormon 9:13-14 And they shall come forth, both small and great, and all shall stand before His bar, being redeemed and loosed from this eternal band of death, which death is a temporal death. And then cometh the Judgment of the Holy One upon them; and then cometh the time that he that is filthy shall be filthy still; and he that is righteous shall be righteous still; he that is happy shall be happy still; and he that is unhappy shall be unhappy still. John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all Judgment unto the Son: Acts 17:31 But now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom He hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised Him from the dead. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done whether [it be] good or bad. Psalms 9:7-8 But the Lord shall endure for ever: He hath prepared His Throne for Judgment. And He shall judge the world in righteousness; He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. Psalm 89:14 Justice and Judgment [are] the habitation of thy Throne: Mercy and Truth shall go before thy face. Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of [His] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with Judgment and with Justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 50:4-5 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation; for a Law shall proceed from me, and I will make my Judgment to rest for a light for the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arm shall judge the people. The isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust. See 2 Nephi 8:4-5 7

8 Jesus Christ is The Judge of all D&C 76:68 These are they whose names are written in Heaven, where God and Christ are the Judge of all. See Hebrews 12:23 D&C 77:12.In the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things. Moses 6:57 Man of Holiness is His name, and the name of his Only Begotten is the Son of Man, even Jesus Christ, a righteous Judge, who shall come in the meridian of time. Mosiah 16:10..And shall be brought to stand before the bar of God, to be judged of Him according to their works whether they be good or whether they be evil Acts 10:42 And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He which was ordained of God [to be] the Judge of quick and dead. See 2 nd Timothy 4:1 Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know Him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people. [It is] a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 1 Peter 4:5-6 Who shall give account to Him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Isaiah 33:22 8

9 For the Lord [is] our Judge, the Lord [is] our Lawgiver, the Lord [is] our King; He will save us. D&C 29:47 As the Judge God makes His children Accountable to Him Wherefore, they cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me. D&C 41:12 These words are given unto you, and they are pure before me; wherefore, beware how you hold them, for they are to be answered upon your souls in the Day of Judgment. D&C 101:78 That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral agency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the Day of Judgment. The Lord appoints His children to specific stewardships and makes them accountable to Him for the performance of those duties. D&C 70:4 And an account of this stewardship will I require of them in the Day of Judgment D&C 72:3-4 And verily in this thing ye have done wisely, for it is required of the Lord, at the hand of every steward, to render an account of his stewardship, both in time and in eternity. For he who is faithful and wise in time is accounted worthy to inherit the mansions prepared for him of my Father. D&C 104:11-13 It is wisdom in me; therefore, a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall organize yourselves and appoint every man his stewardship; that every man may give an account unto me of the stewardship which is appointed unto him. For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures 9

10 D&C 64:40..if they are not faithful in their stewardships (they) shall be condemned and others shall be planted in their stead. D&C 51:19 And whoso is found a faithful, a just, and a wise steward shall enter into the joy of His Lord, and shall inherit Eternal Life. God Rewards and Blesses the Faithful and Obedient of His Children See under reward page 305 and bless page 29 in the Topical Guide As part of the Judgment process God rewards and blesses His children as they seek Him and strive to live His Laws The Gifts of the Spirit and Power in the Priesthood along with Peace in this life and Eternal life in the world to come are the greatest blessings that are offered to man. See the scripture references in the study on the atonement The greatest effect of the Atonement is Peace in this life and Eternal Life God is pleased and delighted with the faithful and obedient 3 Nephi 11:7 This my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased in whom I have glorified my name-hear ye Him See JS-H 1:17; Matthew 3:17; 17:5; D&C 45:4 D&C 41:1 Hearken and hear, O ye my people, saith the Lord and your God, ye whom I delight to bless with the greatest of all blessings, ye that hear me; and ye that hear me not will I curse, that have professed my name, with the heaviest of all cursings. D&C104:2-3 With promise immutable and unchangeable, that inasmuch as those whom I commanded were faithful they should be blessed with a multiplicity of blessings. But inasmuch as they were not faithful they were nigh unto cursing. 11 .The only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased D&C 89:13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine. D&C 97:3 I, the Lord, am well pleased that there should be a school in Zion The Lord rewards us according to our obedience and works Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [Him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and [that] He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. D&C 54:10 And again, be patient in tribulation until I come; and, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, and they who have sought me early shall find rest to their souls. Even so Amen See D&C 42:65 D&C 101:65..when I shall come in the Kingdom of my Father to reward every man according as his work shall be See D&C 138:59 D&C 104:25 And inasmuch as he is faithful, I will multiply blessings upon him and his seed after him. D&C 104:42 And inasmuch as he is faithful in keeping my commandments, which I have given unto him, I will multiply blessings upon him and his seed after him, even a multiplicity of blessings. Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man shall come in the Glory of his Father with His Angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works. 12 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it]. See v D&C 89:18-20 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen. His blessings are above all things that we can imagine D&C 18:45 Wherefore, the blessings which I give unto you are above all things. D&C 78:17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not as yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in His own hands and prepared for you. D&C 124:55 That you may prove yourselves unto me that ye are faithful in all things whatsoever I command you, that I may bless you, and Crown you with Honor, Immortality, and Eternal Life. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. D&C 84:38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father s Kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him D&C 31:2.Nevertheless, I will bless you and your family, yea, your little ones. The Lord Gives liberally-he is generous James 1:5-6 12

13 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 2 Nephi 4:35 Yea, I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God. See Matthew 10:8 God Punishes and curses the disobedient and unfaithful of His children To curse is to restrict opportunities as a punishment for misbehaviour. The Lord s anger or righteous indignation should not be confused with a loss of temper. This anger is an expression of His Divine disapproval, His displeasure at actions which jeopardise an individual s eternal progression. It is an expression of being let down, of exasperation when all the alternatives have been tried. His wrath or anger is only brought forth after much longsuffering, forbearance, provocation, and warning. Indeed the Lord is slow to anger. (Note temper is a sudden outburst of anger that is often uncontrollable) Other words for the Lord s anger used in Holy writ are indignation, vexation, and wrath. To punish is to chastise and is sometimes referred to as the Lord s vengeance. To reprove, rebuke or warn is usually the first step before the punishment is sent forth. He chastens His people and will places restrictions upon them unless they repent. The Lord often states I am not well pleased when He disapproves of our behaviour. See Topical guide under anger, wrath and indignation for additional references. Mark 3:5 And when He had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts. John 2:14-15 And found in the Temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers money, and overthrew the tables See Matthew 21:12-13 There are many references in the Old Testament of the Lord s anger with His people:- Judges 2:13-14 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers.. 13

14 D&C 5:8 Oh, this unbelieving and stiffnecked generation--mine anger is kindled against them. D&C 29:17 And it shall come to pass, because of the wickedness of the world, that I will take vengeance upon the wicked, for they will not repent; for the cup of mine indignation is full; for behold, my blood shall not cleanse them if they hear me not. See all verses D&C 59:21 And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not His hand in all things, and obey not His commandments. D&C 63:11 Yea, signs come by faith, unto mighty works, for without faith no man pleaseth God; and with whom God is angry He is not well pleased; wherefore, unto such He showeth no signs, only in wrath unto their condemnation. D&C 63:32: I, the Lord, am angry with the wicked; I am holding my Spirit from the inhabitants of the earth. See D&C 1:13 D&C 60:2-3 But with some I am not well pleased, for they will not open their mouths, but they hide the talent which I have given unto them, because of the fear of man. Wo unto such, for mine anger is kindled against them. And it shall come to pass, if they are not more faithful unto me, it shall be taken away, even that which they have. See D&C 58:41; 68:31; 90:35; D&C 98:19-21 Behold, I, the Lord, am not well pleased with many who are in the church at Kirtland; for they do not forsake their sins, and their wicked ways, the pride of their hearts, and their covetousness, and all their detestable things, and observe the words of wisdom and Eternal Life which I have given unto them. Verily I say unto you, that I, the Lord, will chasten them and will do whatsoever I list, if they do not repent and observe all things whatsoever I have said unto them. Moses 7:33-34: And unto thy brethren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father; but behold, they are without affection, and they hate their own blood; And the fire of mine indignation is kindled against them; and in my hot displeasure will I send in the floods upon them, for my fierce anger is kindled against them. Ether 14:25 And thus we see that the Lord did visit them in the fulness of his wrath, and their wickedness and abominations had prepared a way for their everlasting destruction. 14

15 Mosiah 11:20-22 Go forth, and say unto this people, thus saith the Lord--Wo be unto this people, for I have seen their abominations, and their wickedness, and their whoredoms; and except they repent I will visit them in mine anger. And except they repent and turn to the Lord their God, behold, I will deliver them into the hands of their enemies; yea, and they shall be brought into bondage; and they shall be afflicted by the hand of their enemies. And it shall come to pass that they shall know that I am the Lord their God, and am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of my people. See Alma 9:12 Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. See under vengeance Topical Gide page 554 Topical Guide see D&C 3:4, Mormon 8:20 The Lord s wrath and indignation comes when they are ripened in iniquity Ether 2:8-9 And He had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared that whoso should possess this Land of Promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve Him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of His wrath should come upon them. And now, we can behold the decrees of God they shall be swept off when the fulness of His wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of His wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity. 16 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you whom I love, and whom I love I also chasten that their sins may be forgiven, for with the chastisement I prepare a way for their deliverance in all things out of temptation, and I have loved you See D&C 105:6 D&C 101:41 Behold, here is wisdom concerning the children of Zion, even many, but not all; they were found transgressors, therefore they must needs be chastened. The ax is laid at the root of the trees; and every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit shall be hewn down and cast into the fire. I, the Lord, have spoken it. Concerning the United Order the Lord has said: D&C 104:4-9 Therefore inasmuch as some of my servants have not kept the commandment, but have broken the covenant through covetousness, and with feigned words, I have cursed them with a very sore and grievous curse. For I, the Lord have decreed in my heart, that inasmuch as any man belonging to the order shall be found a transgressor, or in other words, shall break the covenant with which ye are bound, he shall be cursed in his life, and shall be trodden down by whom I will; for I the lord am not to be mocked in these things-and all this that the innocent among you may not be condemned with the unjust; and that the guilty among you may not escape.therefore, inasmuch as you are found transgressors, you cannot escape my wrath in your lives. Inasmuch as ye are cut off for transgression, ye cannot escape the buffetings of Satan until the day of redemption. 17 With promise immutable and unchangeable, that inasmuch as those whom I commanded were faithful they should be blessed with a multiplicity of blessings. But inasmuch as they were not faithful they were nigh unto cursing. Helaman 12:3 And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten His people with many afflictions, yea, except He doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him. Like any angry parent the Lord will punish His wayward children The Lord s anger and righteous indignation will be felt by all the disobedient including members of the Church:- D&C 97: For behold, and lo, vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly as the whirlwind; and who shall escape it? The Lord's scourge shall pass over by night and by day, and the report thereof shall vex all people; yea, it shall not be stayed until the Lord come. For the indignation of the Lord is kindled against their abominations and all their wicked works. Nevertheless, Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her. But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire. See D&C 112:24-26 D&C 87:6 And thus, with the sword and by bloodshed the inhabitants of the earth shall mourn; and with famine, and plague, and earthquake, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce and vivid lightning also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath, and indignation, and chastening hand of an Almighty God, until the consumption decreed hath made a full end of all nations. D&C 84:24 But they hardened their hearts and could not endure His presence; therefore, the Lord in His wrath, for His anger was kindled against them, swore that they should not enter into His rest while in the wilderness, which Rest is the fulness of His Glory. D&C 20:15, 17, 20 Therefore I command you to repent--repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore--how sore you know not, how 17

18 exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not. But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I.. Wherefore, I command you again to repent, lest I humble you with my almighty power; and that you confess your sins, lest you suffer these punishments of which I have spoken See D&C 24:16 The Lord s indignation and anger will be felt in the last days. D&C 133:50-51 And His voice shall be heard: I have trodden the wine-press alone, and have brought Judgment upon all people; and none were with me; And I have trampled them in my fury, and I did tread upon them in mine anger, and their blood have I sprinkled upon my garments, and stained all my raiment; for this was the day of vengeance which was in my heart. Turn ye, turn ye unto the Lord your God. Why has he forsaken you? It is because you have hardened your hearts; yea, ye will not hearken unto the voice of the Good Shepherd; yea, ye have provoked Him to anger against you. And behold, instead of gathering you, except ye will repent, behold, he shall scatter you forth. Isaiah 65:2-3 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way [that was] not good, after their own thoughts; A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; see Jeremiah 8:19 The Lord rebukes and reproofs D&C 93:47-49 And now, verily I say unto Joseph Smith, Jun.--You have not kept the commandments, and must needs stand rebuked before the Lord; Your family must needs repent and forsake some things, and give more earnest heed unto your sayings, or be removed out of their place.
