1 Responsibility of Fund Collection for NGCS Changes to Brentwood Hills At the request of the Stillwater Church of Christ, the responsibility for collecting and transferring contributions to Nairobi Great Commission School will shift to the Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, Nashville, Tennessee, effective March 1, Supporters of NGCS are very grateful to Bro. Milton Wells and the Stillwater Church of Christ for their long service in performing this vital task. David Tonui sent the following information dated Sunday, Feb. 26. Today is a sad day to the Siriat Bible School community, the church in my area and my family, too. The board chairman, Mr. David Sambu, passed away today after battling blood cancer for about two months. He was chairman from the inception of the school till his passing on today. I served under his leadership for 13 years. I have lost close friend and mentor. Kind remember his family in your prayers. In Kenya the influence of Siriat Bible School reaches beyond the Kipsigis tribe it serves. Siriat Bible School is one of the Extension Schools affiliated with NGCS. It is heavily supported by the 7 th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, Arkansas. David Tonui served as its Principal for 13 years before taking his current position at NGCS. NGCS Admits New Class in 2012 By Charles Ngoje, NGCS Extension Program Director The Nairobi Great Commission School admitted 15 new of students on January 17, The 15 students have come from different parts of Kenya. They have been sent by congregations ranging from large to small. NGCS admits leaders who have been endorsed by their respective congregations. All the students who come here therefore, have a work to do in their local congregations for which they are being trained. We have seen churches grow stronger numerically and organizationally because they have trained leadership. NGCS has effectively prepared and produced local missionaries for the continent. We have graduates who are 1 missionaries working in countries like, Ethiopia, Southern Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Ghana. With a special class introduced three

2 years ago on ISLAM we believe that there will arise a team on fire for the, overdue, evangelization of Somalia and Sudan North. Again God who appoints students to this school has given us a great bunch of young and old to train, equip and empower. Nairobi Great Commission School has been very instrumental in training Christian leaders for the Church in Africa now over 22 years. The driving force behind the inception of the school was to provide academic and experiential training in the African context, equipping men and women for ministry and missions in planting and maturing churches locally and cross-culturally. This is the pride of Kenya and Eastern Africa as Churches of Christ existing in this region draws their trained manpower from here. The graduates manage churches, orphanages, Christian schools just to mention a few areas of their ministry engagement. We thank God for the new group of students who will take the lead upon graduation to plant and mature churches in their regions. We stand on these strong pillars for the Kingdom of God: To aid churches in Kenya and other African nations in their growth toward self-reliance by offering high quality leadership training which recognizes and reinforces the unique individual gifts of leaders and prospective leaders. To promote evangelism and church growth on the African continent and beyond by equipping evangelists and 2 missionaries with ministry skills for planting and maturing churches. To provide academic training that is enhanced with intensive field experiences during hands-on mission practicums. To emphasize the spiritual disciplines of repentance, confession, formation, prayer, fasting and renewal creating an atmosphere where the truly called can be recognized and empowered in the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Meet Some of Our New Students The youngest student is Alexander Atema, a former street kid who was rehabilitated by Made in the Streets, a church of Christ ministry working with abandoned and homeless children living on the streets and ghettos of Nairobi city. Atema is 18 years old. He appreciates the ministry of Made in the Streets for their continued help to street girls and boys. The eldest student is a man with a rich background. planted three congregations and serves as an elder in his home Church. Albert states his mission in life easily, to use knowledge learned here to equip more workers who will plant viable churches throughout Baringo, Kenya and beyond. Albert Lekakenye Ole Kaiyoni, was born in May Albert got married in He has seven children and ten grandchildren. Albert is a graduate of Kenya Police College and has served previously in different departments of Defense. For ten years he served in the elite police department of National Intelligence security Service. When he resigned from this, he was appointed a chief of his area. In 2002 he retired from public service and concentrated his time farming and doing ministry. He sees himself spending his remaining years in this life training others. To be able to do that, he has to committed himself to the two years of training so that he can benefit from the Christian leadership training at NGCS. Joseph Hustone Omondi is 25. He was brought to the LORD through World Bible School. He would walk for 11 miles to Winyarago Church of Christ from where Kennedy Chandi, a WBS follow up worker ministers. Joseph is the first born in a family of 6 children. Upon his graduating from high school he quickly got himself some employment so as to support his siblings through high school. He sacrificed his college entry to give his siblings a chance. Now that they are through with high school he has decided to give himself a chance by responding to his home Albert is a large scale mixed farmer. He has dairy cattle, coffee and Macadamia farms. From the farms Albert is able to pay school fees for three of his children who are in high school and colleges. For his being at NGCS the local church supports him some as they are able. Albert was baptized on February 23, 1983 by Zephaniah Kittony a school teacher who would spend time off from work doing evangelism. Albert grew quickly as a committed Christian. He has 3 church s request to seek further training in Bible and missions. But the Church could not raise enough funds to pay his tuition at NGCS. Joseph sold his cow to come to NGCS with the hope and faith that God will provide for his educational needs. Joseph plans to plant a congregation in his

4 home area 10 miles from where he worships. Since he has been working with orphans at an orphanage, he believes his training here will equip him better as a worker with children and of course, church planter.
