I didn't see him, so I -- there he is. Nominating Committee Report #1 Necrology Report Thursday, June 17, 2010 Dallas, Texas Executive Session Convened for Nominating Report #1 Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: The Grand Master's report will be presented at the formal opening. We will now have the presentation of the Grand Secretary's report. (Brief recess.) Report of the Grand Secretary Joe A. Williams, PGM It is my pleasure to again present my report as Grand Treasurer of DeMolay International. The efforts of your Board of Directors strives to improve DeMolay for our young men. Under the leadership of the Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton, the challenges and opportunities facing DeMolay were fully and fairly presented. As Always, it has been a pleasure to work with such dedicated and committed people. MANAGEMENT A current registered Advisory Council is vital for the health and safety of our DeMolay program and DeMolays. We have to re-register present advisors and register new advisors every year. We ask every Executive Officer to please be aware of the deadline date. If there is a problem, perhaps you might seek the assistance of our Field Representative Paul Peacock. Without current registered advisors with proper background checks, we can not have DeMolay Chapters. My thanks to Ms. Bobi Maddux of our Service and Leadership Team for her continued dedication with this process. There were two (2) sessions of Jurisdictional Management Training this past year with a total of eleven (11) attendees. Future Executive Officers must have it and jurisdictional leaders should have it. The weekend of training gives basic understanding of DeMolay and its policies and procedures. The attendance is down and we encourage you to send your key people to one of these training sessions next year. The DeMolay and More Store continues to be a leader in the Masonic youth groups in innovative and up to date designs. We need to know what our market wants and provide those items that appeal to your new members. Visit the store while here at our session and discuss with our store manager Frank Nordstrom how you and your Jurisdiction can easily market DeMolay. 20

91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting Section II The Grand Master held three (3) Leadership Conferences this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Birmingham, Alabama and Kansas City, Missouri with each being well attended. The content of each conference was well received and I trust each participant gained useful knowledge from their attendance. We thank all the participants who willingly gave of their time to attend. Each year members of the staff, together with Elected Line members and Congress Officers attend National Masonic meetings to promote DeMolay. These meetings include the Imperial Shrine, The Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite and the Conference of Grand Masters. Our Executive Director was a presenter at the Imperial Shrine Membership meeting. International Master Councilor Michael Benedetti s remarks at the Frank S. Land Memorial breakfast, sponsored by the Imperial Shrine inspired the audience. The Invocation at the breakfast was given by Brother Dom Barrera, State Master of Councilor of Colorado. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS Our Executive Director brought to our attention in June of last year an idea for marketing and public relations. Subsequently at our November, 2010 meeting of the Board of Directors he introduced two (2) Marketing and Public Relations firms. What we heard and saw was fantastic. The Knights of DeMolay is an outstanding program and is being well received by the DeMolay and Masonic Fraternity. Our desire is for this program to not only bring DeMolay more in touch with the Masonic Fraternity, but also to recruit young men as well as their parents. This endeavor was unanimously approved by a standing vote of the Board of Directors. I congratulate our Grand Master and the Board of Directors for their insight in promoting DeMolay. This four pillar program includes the creation and use of a documentary style film, public awareness campaigns, internal posters and advertising to the Masonic Community as well as a collaborative and educational virtual world. The overreaching theme of the campaign revolves around reengaging with the excitement and challenges of DeMolay Knights a theme Frank S. Land, founder of DeMolay, envisioned nearly 100 years ago. I encourage you to visit the Kingdom of DeMolay. The firm we engaged, Boston Light, will be making presentations during this session. I encourage you to listen and learn how this four-pillar program will benefit our great order. We have some outstanding DeMolays, advisors and parents of our order and we thank all who have responded by sending in pictures and wanting to work with DeMolay. HALL OF FAME This year will be inducting Senior DeMolay Richard W. Riley into the DeMolay Hall of Fame. Brother Riley, former Governor of South Carolina, served as Secretary of Education during the administration of President William J. Clinton also a Hall of Fame member. Our congratulations to Brother Riley. INSURANCE We continue to have insurance due in no small measure to the hard work of our Insurance Committee and its Chairman, Tony Krall, PGM. This year, we saw a decrease in the premiums due to the diligence of the committee and increased attention to our Youth Protection Program. We owe our gratitude to Tony for all he does when it comes to insurance and risk management. FOREIGN JURISDICTIONS DeMolay in Peru got off to a great start. Our thanks to Dad Donald Garrido, Personal Representative, for his outstanding work and effort. 21

Section II 91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting FIELD OPERATIONS Our field representative, Phil Itzenhuiser, left employment of the Service and Leadership Center to return home to Wisconsin DeMolay. We wish Phil the very best as he continues to work for the betterment of DeMolay in Wisconsin. Paul Peacock, PSMC of Arkansas, was hired to assume the duties of Field Representative. Paul has made several trips and given many presentations and has been well received. I would encourage all Jurisdictions to make good use of his many talents. SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP CENTER We continue to be fortunate in having hard working and dedicated people in the Kansas City office. Heather Denchfield was added to the team in August of last year. She works well with all of our Executive Officers. Nancy Shipps, Bobi Maddux, Paul Peacock, Justin Lee, Frank Nordstrom and William Bryan are dedicated workers on the team we have assembled in Kansas City. Jeff Kitsmiller, Sr., our Executive Director is beginning his eighth year as Executive Director and tenth year of employment with DeMolay International. We thank each staff member for their continued service for the young men of DeMolay. Appended to this report is the statistical information kept in the office of the Grand Secretary together with the actions of the DeMolay International Board of Directors during the past year. Respectively and fraternally, Joe A. Williams, PGM Grand Secretary Joe A. Williams, PGM: On a point of personal privilege, I would like to make a statement. Through my few years that I've lived on this earth, I have had the opportunity to work with some some great people in staff positions from the Salvation Army, the United Way, education foundations, you name it. I am very active in those type of situations. I have never, ever met an individual who is more dedicated and who has a deeper love for the organization for which he works than our Executive Director. (Applause.) Joe A. Williams, PGM: It's something that has been said a couple of times already this week, but I did want to mention it. And it has nothing to do, with my remarks, for the fact that he had his heart attack while attending the Grand Master's Conference. I think it has been needed to be said for many years; and I wanted to go on record to say that I feel fortunate personally that I have been Grand Secretary for every year that he's been our Executive Director. Grand Master, I move the reception of this report. (Regularly moved and seconded.) Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: Brethren, it has been Regularly moved and seconded to receive the Grand Secretary's report. Is there any discussion? 22

91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting Section II Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: So many as are in favor of the motion will say aye. (Aye.) Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: So many as are opposed will say nay. Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: Motion carried. Thank you. I will now hear the Grand Treasurer's report. Dad McGee. Report of the Grand Treasurer James C. McGee, PGM For the fiscal year ending December 31, 2010 DeMolay International ended the year with revenue exceeding expenses by $60,170 as compared to the adopted budget. We ended the year with a total income of $1,542,969 and total expenses of $1,482,799. In another year highlighted with financial concerns that affected all areas of the capital market system I am pleased we were able to show the amount of gain as we achieved. During the years of 2008 and 2009 we had slight issues with Hogan and Taylor concerning timely responses. Late in 2010, the Board of Directors, at the November 20 th Board meeting, approved going out to bid and perhaps finding a qualified local company to perform an audit followed by reviews. DeMolay International has retained the firm of Ifft & Company, PA to conduct an audit of the International Supreme Council and DeMolay International. This audit will be completed this summer and early indications show there are no adverse findings to report. A complete copy of the report will be available to all who request a copy. Ifft & Company will prepare all tax filings at the appropriate time as an extension has already been applied for and granted. Davenport and Company continues to serve DeMolay International as our investment manager. There have been no changes to the investment policy statement since our last annual meeting. I would like to thank Jeff Kitsmiller, Executive Director, for his continued service to DeMolay. Again this past year, the Service & Leadership Center has produced our financial records and distributed them out to the Board of Directors and the Elected Line in a timely and efficient manner. In closing, I would like to express my thanks to the Elected Officers of DeMolay International, the Board of Directors, and our office staff for their performance and cooperation throughout the year. Most of all, I thank you, for allowing me to continue to serve DeMolay in this capacity. Sincerely and fraternally, James C. McGee, PGM 23

Section II 91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting James C. McGee, PGM: Grand Master, I move the receipt of the Grand Treasurer's report. (Regularly moved and seconded.) Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: Brethren, it has been Regularly moved and seconded to receive the Grand Treasurer's report. Is there any discussion? Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: So many as are in favor of the motion will say aye. (Aye.) Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: So many as are of the contrary opinion will say nay. Grand Master Wesley D. Thornton: Motion carried. Thank you. I now convene the Supreme Council in Executive Session. All those present are dismissed, with the exception of Class I Active, Class II Emeritus, Dad Kitsmiller, Mom Shipps and the court reporter. (End of proceedings.) DeMolay International 2011 Annual Session 91 st International Supreme Council 44 th International DeMolay Congress Grand Opening Thursday, June 16, 2011 Grand Rapids, Michigan Tony R. Krall, PGM: Welcome, everyone. It is indeed a pleasure to be here tonight to welcome you to this opening session of DeMolay International's annual meeting. We've come here as leaders to develop the policies that will help DeMolay grow in the future. As I look out over the crowd, I'm reminded of a quote from Colin Powell regarding leadership. He said, There's no secret to success; it is a result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure. One of the things we know as we sit here today is that the young men of DeMolay are dedicated to preparing themselves to be good leaders. And so it's with special pleasure that I introduce the young men and the adults who will lead our deliberations this weekend. Please turn your attention to the Congress officers and the officers of DeMolay International. (Brief pause.) 24

91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting Section II Tony R. Krall, PGM: Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to introduce those who will lead us this week. Krall, PGM: And the 79 th Grand Master of DeMolay International, Wes Thornton from New Mexico. (Applause.) Tony R. Krall, PGM: Grand Master Wes, and International Master Councilor Mike, will you join me at the east? We have reserved seats on this side for the rest of the group. If everybody will please rise; and as a sign of respect, would the citizens of the United States join me for the pledge of allegiance to the flag. (Whereupon pledge and prayer were had.) Tony R. Krall, PGM: As we alluded to before, the work of DeMolay International is done primarily by those adults and young men who lead our Order. And now I'll have Jeff Kitsmiller, Jr. introduce the Executive Officers, Personal Representatives and Delegates to this Congress session and DeMolay International session. Jeffrey Kitsmiller, Jr.: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome me -- please join me in welcoming these delegates and Executive Officers to this Supreme Session. Representing the great state of Alabama; representing Alaska; representing Alberta; representing Arizona; from the great state of Arkansas; from Bolivia; from the great jurisdiction of Colorado, the home of Dirk 25

Section II 91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting Nowitzki; from Connecticut; representing the great jurisdiction of Delaware; from the District of Columbia; from the unfortunate new home of Lebron James, representing the jurisdiction of Florida; representing the jurisdiction of Georgia; representing the jurisdiction of Illinois; from the jurisdiction of Idaho; from the great state of Indiana; from the jurisdiction of Iowa; from Italy; from the jurisdiction of Kansas; from the State of Kentucky; representing the jurisdiction of Maine; representing the jurisdiction of Maryland; representing Massachusetts; from the state of Minnesota; representing the jurisdiction of Mississippi; representing the jurisdiction of Missouri; representing Montana; representing Nebraska; representing the jurisdiction of Nevada; representing the jurisdiction of New Hampshire; from the great state of New Jersey; from the jurisdiction of New Mexico; from the great state of New York; from the jurisdiction of Northern California and Hawaii; from the jurisdiction of Ohio; from the Boomer Sooner state of Oklahoma; from the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania; from the jurisdiction of Rhode Island; from the jurisdiction of Romania; from the jurisdiction of South Carolina; from the jurisdiction of Southern California; from the jurisdiction of Tennessee; from the jurisdiction of Texas; from the jurisdiction of Utah; from the jurisdiction of Vermont; from the jurisdiction of Virginia; from the jurisdiction of Washington; from the jurisdiction of West Virginia; from the jurisdiction of Wisconsin. And, ladies and gentlemen, last, but certainly not least, our host jurisdiction for the entire weekend, representing the great state of Michigan. (Applause.) Tony R. Krall, PGM: Thank you, Jeff. And thank you to all the leaders of DeMolay, both at the adult and the youth level. Without -- it's with your hard work that we will succeed. At this point in the program, I now call upon our International Master Councilor and our International Congress Secretary for a special presentation. (International Master Councilor Michael Benedetti and International Congress Secretary Ryan Grazier performed the Ceremony of Lights.) Tony R. Krall, PGM: Thank you, gentlemen. DeMolay has had many workers over the years who have toiled in the vineyards of Masonry to develop our youth. But this is the case every year. This year we have lost some of our hardest workers. And now for a memorial service for those who have fallen, I call upon the Grand Chaplain. R. Reid Morgan, III: It seems somewhat strange to begin this meeting by stopping for just a moment to remember those who gave so much to this Order; but then again, maybe it's not. We come here to look into the future. We come here to move forward and yet we stop to remember those who have given so much to this Order. In the tradition in which I serve as a priest, we don't do eulogies. But in this instance, we stop to remember the example of those who served this Order. Of those who have left this mortal coil for what my mission understands as a translation of life, not an ending. And we hear from the prophet Isaiah. The prophet Isaiah talks about, good news to the oppressed, I bind up the broken-hearted; proclaiming liberty to captives, release to prisoners and proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. The prophet is talking about the restoration of Israel and talking about the anointed king that would see to that. 26

91 st Supreme Council Annual Meeting Section II And at the end of the passage that we read today, the prophet says that, oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garland instead of ashes, and that they will be called oats of righteousness. These men that we renew today, these ten whose names we will read in prayer in just a moment, were oats of righteousness for this organization; oats of righteousness for each one of us gathered here; an example that we would do well to remember. An example that we would do well to emulate: they toiled tirelessly in the vineyard that we call the Order of DeMolay. They have left this toil for us. The words of the prophet Isaiah speak to us over the centuries and call to us that word; call us to the oats of righteousness; call us to service beyond ourselves; call us to place ourselves last so that others might be placed first. (Whereupon a prayer was had.) Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your never failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that you are doing for them better things that we can desire or pray for: through your most holy name we pray. Amen Into your hands, O God, we commend our brothers A.J. Tullos, PGM, Emeritus Member; James R. DePew, Emeritus Member; John D. Sparks, Emeritus Member; Walter J. Gigerich, Active Member; George R. Effinger, Emeritus Member; William H. Thornley, Jr., Emeritus Member; Ronald J. Shaver, Emeritus Member and John W. Schwietert, Honorary Member as into the hands of a faithful Creator and loving Savior. In your infinite goodness, wisdom and power, work in them the merciful purpose of your perfect will. Amen Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who care for us: preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your loving care and grace. Amen Tony R. Krall, PGM: Thank you, Reid. The Order of DeMolay has many supporters; and we'd like to think we have great relations with all members of the Masonic family. We have a special relationship with members of the other Masonic youth groups, particularly the Order of Rainbow and Job's Daughters International. And I'm now going to call upon our International Master Councilor to introduce the members of Job's Daughters who are present here tonight. Michael Benedetti, International Master Councilor: It gives me great honor to be able to introduce these two. I had the privilege of getting to meet them in Denver, Colorado during the conference of Grand Masters. They're absolutely wonderful ladies. So if Congress Secretary, Ryan Grazier, would you please escort west of the holy altar Miss International Job's Daughters, Aline Busnardo; and Courtney Painter, Supreme Bethel Honored Queen. Thank you. Ladies, welcome. It is wonderful, as always, to have you. We believe in DeMolay that the best way we can work with each other is side by side and with each other. So I really appreciate y'all being here. If we could give them a round of applause. (Applause.) 27
