7 Oh, Canada! This series of images features a cell towere in British Columbia, Canada near a small mining community called Sparwood. Looking at the scenic landscapes from the top, to the east you are actually looking at Alberta, Canada. We found some curious mountain sheep and a few wood ticks. Luckily we took neither home with us. At the base of this foothill (as the Canadians call it), there is a lake and in this lake one can find a derailed train. People will come from all over the world to dive and explore this sunken artifact.

9 Bannack Ghost Town is a very raw place to get some great photos if you have models that fit in with the scene and time period. Also if the day you go has great cloudy skys then that is the best! Taking an excursion there with a lot of other new photographers posed a difficult challenge that I had not anticipated. I had to be aggressive to get any shots I wanted. This resulted in me not getting half the shots I wanted because I couldn t find myself to be aggressive enough to fight other people for positions on these shots with the limited time we had. I shot all of these with a 50 mm lens which requires me to stand back a lot further than most shooters so I had to be careful not to get other people in these shots and it required a lot of patience. Unforfunately, I came home a little dissapointed and discouraged. Overall, going to Bannack was a great experience for me to learn a lot of new things.

11 As a requirement, I shot a series of images focusing on the doors of buildings in Bannack. It was quite interesting to notice that some doors opened to a bank, a saloon, a church, a house, a merchant store, an outhouse, etc. Some door handles were on the right, others on the left. Some thresholds were raised while others are ground level. Some doors had windows, others were plain. Some doors swing both ways, others only out. Some doors are double doors but most are simply one. What I loved about all the doors was their unigue textures and colors. Their basic functions are the same, to let things exit or enter. This is a common functionality found in most of nature. You can find it in the anatomy of flowers, the human body, technology, transportation, thought processes, and so much more. Some doors can only be opened by special keys or codes. Some doors can only be unlocked by love and trust. Most doors hold on to the memories of all who have come and gone. Even the wood of the framing can remember back to time it was a sapling. I can hardly imagine the day when we are able to see all of history, even through the eyes of nature. To understand the feelings of a place because the doors, windows and walls actually tell their story.

14 My name is Shelby Freeman. I am from Southern California and come from a large family of 8 kids. I love the sunshine and how it feels on my skin. I love water sports including surfing, snorkeling, wakeboarding and water polo. Many of my summers growing up were spent in a pool or in the ocean. I love playing with children and helping them learn and grow. I think that the family is the most important unit in society. In the upcoming months, I am looking forward to becoming a mother. I love being the wife to my Jonathan William. We have enjoyed being married for 18 months and are looking foward to traveling Europe this summer. Particularly the Baltic States where I served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints during There I learned to speak Lithuanian and helped strengthen the Church and its members there. I look forward to settling with my Jon in Northern Virginia once we have graduated from Brigham Young Universtiy of Idaho together. My degree is Visual Communications and with that is design, vector illustrations and photography. I love capturing images of every day life and special moments. I love portraits and I hope to find myself one day doing a bit of birth photography. Birth is such a sacred moment full of love and excitement.
