2 The hope needed Has anyone ever defeated death? If so, did he make a way for us to do so, also?

3 The hope needed...when loss looms... (Jesus said) I am the resurrection and the life... Do you believe this? This is a... question which makes sense only during an all-night vigil or in the stillness of (a) waiting room. A question that makes sense when all of our props... and costumes are taken away. For then we must face ourselves as we really are: rudderless humans tailspinning toward disaster. And we are forced to see Him for what He claims to be: our only hope. Max Lucado

4 The hope needed...when loss looms...is based on this happening Jesus, having once experienced death and having triumphed over it, would never die again. He was raised immortal alive from the dead and He still lives today. Ray Pritchard

5 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Hebrews 11:19 ESV (Abraham) considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead.

6 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Psalm 73:24 ESV You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.

7 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Isaiah 26:19a ESV Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.

8 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Daniel 12:2a ESV And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.

9 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Job 14:14 ESV If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my service I would wait, till my renewal should come.

10 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise Job 19:25-26 ESV For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God.

11 Before Jesus rose, God s people held a promise 1 Corinthians 15:20-21 ESV But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.

12 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation 1 Corinthians 15:13-14 ESV But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.

13 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation Acts 2:23-24 ESV This Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

14 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation 2 Corinthians 4:14 ESV Knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.

15 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation Ephesians 1:19-20 ESV And what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.

16 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation 1 Peter 1:3-4 ESV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.

17 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation Revelation 1:17-18 ESV When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

18 After Jesus rose, God s people heralded a proclamation John 11:25 ESV Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.

29 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion Matthew 28:5-7 ESV But the angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.

30 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We should come Matthew 11:28-29 ESV Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

31 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We can see The God whom we adore raised our Lord Jesus from the dead

32 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We can see How the resurrection answers the question Who died on Calvary s cross? None other than the Son of God.

33 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We can see That those who through faith are united to Jesus Christ will one day share in his resurrection.

34 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We will go and tell Matthew 28:19-20 ESV Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

35 Because Jesus rose, God s people had a passion We will go and tell Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o er His foes. He arose a victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose! Christ Arose by Robert Lowry
