If there is an urgent need for Pastor to see you, a phone call (leave a message if no answer) is the most reliable. 4 Page 4 Notes from June 14, 2018 Present: Frank Bernhardt, President, Education Committee Kay Kinard, Secretary, Evangelism Committee Dan Cox, Stewardship Committee Susan Layton, Service Committee Lisa McClain, IGM Committee Todd Nord, Property Committee Tim Ryan, Worship & Music Committee Pastor Anderson Absent: Robin McAlpine, Vice-President, Finance Committee Bob McKenzie, Mutual Ministry Committee Pastor s report: She is visiting and getting to know the congregation. She would like volunteers to accompany her on visits to homebound members. She will meet soon with our Eucharist Ministers also. Pastor was disappointed that St. Timothy s had no lay members at the synod meeting because of a registration mix up. Council discussed ways that the congregation can help Pastor with her work here. Some suggestions will be in the newsletter. Committee Reports: Worship and Music: A change in the setting of worship is being considered. Education: First Communion instruction will be offered to a student entering the 4 th grade. Others could be included. IGM: Shayla Wallace, Brianna Williams, Mason Studer, and Michael Williams are going to the National Youth Gathering with a group from the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Greenville. Evangelism: Copies of current Council Committee members were distributed. Pastor noted the need for information about men and families as current as that of women in the WELCA yearbook. Frequent visitors at STLC will be invited to explore becoming members. Service: Life Line Screening is set to be at the church on July 28, and sign ups have begun. Plans are being made to have the Mammogram Van from Palmetto Health Baptist here tentatively on August 24 if 25 people sign up for the service. (Cont d on next page)

5 Page 5 (Cont d from page 4) Finance: The Treasurer s report through April showed income to date of$50, 936 and expenses totaling $54, There remains about $2,580 in the Youth National Gathering account. Lisa will gather more information about their expenses from the contact at LCOS. Old Business: Synod Assembly Report: Pastor Linda reported that the meeting s theme was Peacemakers, and that disciples might be called to be more active as peacemakers in the future. Synod elections were held. New Business: Call Committee: The selection of six call committee members was made with a balance of men and women of different ages and short-term and long-term members. The next Council meeting is scheduled for July 12 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting closed with the Lord s Prayer. Kay Kinard Council Secretary CALL COMMITTEE Section C13.05 of the church s constitution provides that When a pastoral vacancy occurs, a Call Committee of six voting members shall be appointed by the Congregation Council. Term of office shall terminate at the installation of the newly-called pastor. Your Church Council has appointed the following persons to the Call Committee: John Cooper Nancy Kramer Dale LeClair Rená Nord Tanya Thomas Hal Varn This team will meet to ensure our congregational profile is accurate, using information gained with the help of other members and public data. On July 15 th Bishop Yoos will meet with the whole congregation for worship, a potluck meal, and a Time of Discernment. Make plans to attend this important meeting!! Your input will be appreciated. The Bishop will further explain the call process and what steps should be taken.

Please bring jars of jam or jelly to church each Sunday in June to help restock the CCM food pantry. CCM is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is an extension of the servant ministry of the cooperating Christian congregations in Kershaw County. The mission of CCM is to help residents of Kershaw county to overcome crises by providing immediate, direct assistance and by coordinating services with other ministries and agencies. CCM help includes assistance with housing, prescriptions, food, and utilities if criteria are met and/or funds allow. Currently the monetary support to CCM is down. If you heart is so moved, please donate monetarily to CCM along with providing the jam and jelly this month. Thank you for all the support St. Timothy s provides to CCM in money, volunteers, and food.
