7 CONSTTUTON... ". : l : R.eaolY~cl, Tltat we fond an Auocaton upoa the pracplca lad dow a the Holy Scrptures, to-wt: A.. ocatoaa appear from Scrpture and ecduasteal hstory to hnc o:jaally been formed, not from any posrye njunctoa, ether ltom Chrst or Hs Apostlcs, but from mere eapedeacy for the purpose of. concentratng the effortl of adydual churches and brn;us them to bur wth 1rcater eneru upon the subject dessned to be accom plsbed by those churchea. They were alao consdered as advaory councl, and res.tored to as. such, but nncr clamed any rght or lordng t over Gods hertage, nor was ther advce consdered bndng on the churches. n a word, assocatons were wholly dependeat on churches, and churchea were not dependent upon auoca tona, notwthstandng the power abrosated to themselve\ by some modern Baptst Assocatons, we vew them as beng nowhere pecedented by the prmtve usage of any self-created bodea. We, the delegates from our respectve churches, beng authorzed by our churches, to agree to form ourselves nto an assocaton to be known by the name of the Chattahoochee Free Wll Baptst Assocaton, and we promse not to wthdraw ourselves from ths assocaton wthout frst statng our reasons to the body for such ntended wthdrawal. t s proposed by the Auocaton, frst to p.romote revvals of relgon by camp and protracted meetngs. Secondly, to take an actve part n Home Mssons. t s not ntended by ths Assocaton to dscuss queres. t s. not the desgn of ths Assocaton to nterfere n any way wth the ndependence of churches composng t. t was not ntended to establsh creeds, rules of dscplne, or make any law what aoevcr to bnd the churches, but to leave each church to regulate u own affars. \11:, as an Auocaton, take the Old and New Testament as our confesson of fath, as relates to the ndependency. We belctve that a duly organzed church conssts. of a congregaton of sants, baptzed upon a credtable confesson of fath n Chrst. Chrst a the only Chrstan lawgver a11d supreme head of the churches, and the Word of God; the only nfallble rule of fath and practce. Every man has an nalenable rght to prvate j Jdgment n conce111 of relgon, and an equal rght to n:preu hs opnon a any way whch wll not vc.late the laws of God or the rghta of hs fellowman. A church has a rght to adopt mcasurea only aa are. n accordance wth the Word of God, and auch as deemed neceasary to carry nto effect the great aystem of practce. The church s the hghest cccleautcal trbuaal oa earth, from whose decson there,a no appeal.
