4 About the University The University of the Saints is a lay public evangelism school dedicated to the training of men and women who feel the call of God upon their lives and have a desire for specialized training in the science of soul winning. Ellen White states that a sharper blade cuts better than a dull blade. Mission Statement To help students develop their gifts by equipping them to work within and through the body of Christ for the salvation of men. History of the School The University of the Saints was organized in 1982 in the small east coast town of New Bern, North Carolina. The University was established by a young pastor named Calvin L. Watkins Sr., a pastor who had a desire to see skilled laborers in the congregation where the membership was 85. After organizing the University, the membership grew to over 650 in three years with 90% of the church membership receiving their degrees. The success of the program on the local level was adopted by the local Conference where more than 2,000 souls were baptized consecutively in the South Atlantic Conference. In the last 30 years, more than seven extension schools have been established and more than 1,000 graduates have become successful agents and laborers for the cause of God. Administration Calvin L. 5 Message from the President Dear Student: We are glad that you have chosen to be a part of the University of the Saints (UOS). UOS has been open for more than 36 years with more than 1,000 graduates who have matriculated through our core program and over 8,000 souls baptized for the Kingdom. We feel that the University offers an opportunity for those who feel the call of God upon their lives and the need to join the army of God by sharpening their tools for ministry. Our school welcomes men and women of every race, creed, and color, and our doors are open to all, regardless of one s educational background. Calvin L. 8 Admissions Application Procedure When and how to register Committed students can register and pay online at or mail all required forms and fees to the Office of the Registrar: Southwest Conference Attention: UOS Registrar P. O. Box Dallas, Texas Registration Requirements Registration form Please complete the registration and commitment forms as provided. Recommendation forms Two letters of recommendation are required, one from your local church pastor and one from a friend. The forms are provided. Student commitment form The student commitment form must be signed by the student and the local pastor. Graduation requirements Active involvement To remain in good standing in preparation for graduation, you must actively participate in at least one evangelistic meeting and/or Bible study during the first year of the course. During the second year, you must conduct at least one evangelistic meeting and seven Bible studies. Required reading Students must read the required materials prior to each class. A signature card requiring your local pastor s signature will be provided. Course completion Upon completing your studies, UOS will issue you a Certificate of Completion. 6

9 Financial Information Semester Tuition Cost per semester is $7 per person, plus a small processing fee of $2.99. Tuition UOS has been subsidized by our partners in ministry which helps us keep tuition at a minimum of $7 dollars per semester. Financial aid It is the purpose of the University to make the training as affordable as possible. If the student is unable to pay for the following reasons: unemployment, disability, financial setbacks including bankruptcy, the school will recommend you for financial aid or wave all fees, but we encourage every student to contribute financially toward their education. Personal Ministry department The University will be partnering with the local churches and their personal ministries leader and the Conference Personal Ministries Department to make this once in a lifetime opportunity accessible for all.
