2 V o l u m e 1 I s s u e 6 P a g e 2 WCGS Spring Meeting, tbd 2014 The WCGS will hold its next meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina. The exact dates are to be determined, but stay tuned for the latest news. If you have any suggestions for things to see and do in the Raleigh- Durham area, contact Corresponding Secretary Pat Sugg. WCGS Fall Meeting Highlights In addition to taking care of WCGS business Friday and Saturday, we had a lot of fun getting together, eating, and enjoying the activities going on in the camp. Pictures can also be seen on our Facebook page (World Chamberlain Genealogical Society) and the Board Meetings link on the website (Chamberlain-Society.org). On Thursday night the early arrivers gathered at the Dolphin Marina restaurant in Harpswell, ME for fresh, local Maine seafood. Coincidentally, the Maine Visitors Bureau was filming a short piece on the life of a lobsterman in that area. After the film crew spent a day on the lobster boat, they filmed the family dining at the restaurant that evening. On a rainy Friday we did a short business meeting and then gathered for lunch at Joshua s Restaurant and dinner was in the Captain Daniel Stone s restaurant. New member Ms. Hope Haug joined us and brought along an original of the CAA Membership application prepared by her husband s ancestor, Miss Amy Ella Blanchard (CAA #216). Jim Sugg scanned the document and Bill Mennel plans to stitch the individual frames together to form an electronic copy. Saturday after the business meeting adjourned was spent in the Civil War camp. We talked with visitors about the Chamberlain surname and our society s mission, observed the close order drill by the Union and Confederate companies (including lots of musket firing), and concluded the day with a lobster dinner cooked over a camp fire by our friend Miss Rose. Sunday morning she cooked sausage and apples and made rice pudding with raisins (Jim Sugg did a special request). Maurice Healy (WCGS# 470) is a civil war re-enactor, so we were able to learn more about camp life observing his activities.

3 V o l u m e 1 I s s u e 6 Page 3 Maurice Healy s parents, Addie (WCGS# 443) and William also joined us for the WCGS meeting and dinner around the campfire. Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and wife Fanny (WCGS President Ted Chamberlain and wife, Faye) spent the day at the 20th Maine s headquarters tent where many people stopped to talk and take a photo. More editions posted to aid members of the WCGS in their research- Alison Chamberlain Ogilvie Ainsworth s Chamberlain Association News (Series 2) The Chamberlain Association News (Series 2) collection began publication in January These are being scanned and posted on the website by the WCGS. We presently have two dozen on line. To find them go to Chamberlain Publications of Interest CAA2 Newsletters Remember, you must be a currently active member of the WCGS to view these newsletters.

One of the Goal's in the formation of the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society (WCGS) was the creation of a membershipfriendly organization that would enhance the exchange of information and experiences associated with the study of a common surname. Although members are scattered widely over the world, the WCGS serves as a center for facilitating and coordinating intercommunication, and as a repository for information useful to persons who wish to learn more about their own ancestry in particular and the history of the surname as well. We welcome all who share this interest to join us in documenting the surname and its many variant spellings.
