The strategic plan for the Council will look to sustain strengths, eliminate or mitigate weaknesses, take advantage of opportunities and neutralize threats. As has been stated previously, the plan will have measurable aspects to it to determine if the Council is attaining designated goals. The Committee is working hard to present the strategic plan to the Council within the next several weeks. Congratulations to Father Paul and Father Santo on the 40th and 25th Anniversary, respectively, of their ordination into the priesthood! The Anniversary Mass was held on 21 May and it was followed by a very nice reception. The Council supported this celebration of our Brother Knights by helping to set up and take down tents, tables and chairs needed for the reception. The Council has been busy supporting several events within the parish during the month of May. Council members set up tents, tables and chairs for the Parish Picnic on 7 May and also did the cooking and serving of the meal of BBQ, hot dogs and sides. At the end of the day, Brother Knights were also involved in taking down, putting away and cleaning up after the picnic. Led by Brother Charlie Scherer, we came back the following morning to prepare and serve the Mother's Day Breakfast. Both events were a big success. The Council also held an Admissions Degree Exemplification on 17 May where two new Brother Knights were initiated into the Order. Sent from Mail for Windows 10 Chaplain's Corner Pope Francis preached about the importance of praying courageously, of doing good to all, and how to guard against losing the spiritual salt of one s faith. On Monday, he underlined the importance of praying with courage, faith and from the heart. Miracles occur even today, he said, but in order to obtain them, they require strong prayer that wrestles with God and does not end with a one-time courtesy supplication. He was reflecting on the day s Gospel reading in which Jesus heals a boy with an evil spirit, and tells the disciples that strong prayer is necessary (interestingly, Pope Francis had appeared to do the same the day before, when he prayed over a seemingly possessed boy in St. Peter s Square). He recalled an episode in his native Argentina when a father prayed to the Madonna all night to save his daughter from a life-threatening illness; the next day, the daughter s fever had gone. Such prayer must gush from the heart a courageous prayer that fights for a miracle not the courtesy prayers, Oh I ll pray for you an Our Father, a Hail Mary and then I forget, he said. Everyone has a bit of disbelief he observed, so we need to pray: Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Read more:

4 Knightline Knights of Columbus Tara Council # 6352 News Letter June 2016 Page 4 of 11 (Continued from page 1) members of the Council also prepared the meal at the Retired Delta Employees picnic on 3 May which resulted in a nice profit for the Council. This is the last Grand Knight's Corner I will write as my term as Grand Knight will expire on 30 June I want to thank all my Brother Knights who worked hard to support the efforts of the Council during my term. There is little doubt you have all demonstrated the precepts of the Order: charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. I would also like to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for their backing and the countless hours they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Knights to help enable success. Finally, a special thanks to Father Paul for the spiritual leadership he has provided the Council. We are truly blessed to have him as our Chaplain.
