Bless God, my rock! Let the God of my salvation be lifted high! - Psalm 18:46 Worshipping with the Psalms as our focal point, this series focuses on the promises of God, whose love and grace are enduring features our lives. In these days of instant gratification and fleeting interest, the Psalms remind us of the steadfast nature of God, calling each of us who are made in the image of God to be steadfast in our promises. We'll prepare ourselves for a new start in the fall with some promises as a church, to work toward fulfilling our missional goals and being a safe haven where all can know the sure foundation of God!

Open every Saturday from 9 AM - Noon. The Missions Team would like to thank everyone for all their contributions to our Stop Hunger Now campaign. The tallies for June & July are as follows: JUNE: Men = $ / Women = $ JULY: Men = $ / Women = $ We have a long way to go but if we all pitch in and work hard, we can reach our goal of raising $3,770 and packaging 13,000 meals. 14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill, and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? 17 So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith. Large donation jars are located in the Narthex each Sunday as well as smaller jars you may take home to help you save. Questions? See Ken Quick for more information. Upcoming Worship Study A Disciple s Path: Deepening Your Relationship with Christ and the Church Six Week Study begins October 4. Combining a Wesleyan understanding of our growth in God s love and grace with the timetested practices of spiritual discipline, as expressed in the membership vows to uphold the church with our presence, prayers, gifts, service, and witness, participants will discover the difference it makes to live out their commitment to Christ. Come explore what it means to walk as a disciple of Jesus. Participants will discover that being a disciple means loving God and loving others, and they will be equipped to do that by discovering their unique gifts and becoming engaged in ministry that also brings transformation in their own hearts and lives through the love and grace of Jesus Christ. 2 R e d l a n d U n i t e d M e t h o d i s t C h u r c h office: ( )

Our elementary kids went on field trips to Shenandoah Caverns, Mac s Roller Rink, laser tag, JD s, CiCi s, an onsite fieldtrip with McKibler Bee s Mobile Mining Learning Experience, swimming at Clearbrook Park, and our summer cook out. Mr. Neal joined us this summer for Elementary Sports Camp. Frederick Co. Schools are in full swing. There is no school on September 4 & 7, September 18 is an early dismissal for elementary students only and September 23 is an early dismissal for all students. Preschool News Our Preschool children enjoyed fun in the sun with a new water slide for water day and ice cream day. All students enjoyed the Child Care Show, I Love America by Mr. Ben Spitzer. Preschool opened on Monday, August 31 with a full house. Redland PS/DC will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. IMPACT Program IMPACT Has Begun! The after school middle school program began last month with 8 students registered. We need more volunteers to be adult mentors. We currently need one mentor per day, but as we grow, more will be needed. Ideally, we would like to have two adults for every 20 students. Please prayerfully consider serving. Each day at IMPACT students will hear a message from the Bible led by our IMPACT Coordinator, Gretchen Moody, have time for homework, work together on IMPACT Projects that will benefit the community and beyond, and wind down from a busy day at school. Here's what some Mentors are saying so far... "I enjoyed helping. I forgot how active and fun this age group can be. I look forward to next week when I help again." Louise Robinson "It was refreshing to see how the children interacted with each other. The time went by quickly with the many activities we had." David Whitacre Please contact Gretchen Moody, gretchen@redland-umc.org, if God is leading you to volunteer as an IMPACT Mentor. 6 R e d l a n d U n i t e d M e t h o d i s t C h u r c h office: ( )
