1 June 26, 2017 Bowden Grandview School Sr. High Golf Bowden Grandview School Congratulates the playschool Class of 2017 Bowden Grandview high school students would like to send a big thank you to the Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course and the senior members for providing instruction and encouragement. In the words of AA Milne how lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. In Tuck Everlasting, author Natalie Babbit taught us that you can t pick out the pieces you like and leave the rest. Being part of the whole thing that s the blessing. Being part of Bowden Grandview is exactly that - a blessing. When I came to BGS I had never taught in a K to 12 nor did I truly understand how the advantages outweighed the perceived disadvantages. From the school focus on literacy and success for all students to FOG and teams of parents raising money to help any classroom with anything, we have seen how students from K to 12 are enveloped by a group of adults, guided, pushed, and pulled through every struggle and celebrated through every success. My time at Bowden Grandview has taught me many lessons, most importantly that relationships matter first and foremost. I am overwhelmed when I reflect on the greatness of BGS and the caring staff who work so tirelessly as a team around the students who will always have a piece of my heart. Bowden will always be my other home, the staff, my family and the students, my kiddos. Thank you to the students, parents, staff and community - past and present - for all the pieces of the last five years. 2 Welcome! Please join me in welcoming Kelli Northrup as our newest team member. Kelli began her career in education in Fort McMurray, Alberta in In addition to teaching, she served as a Learning Coach, Learning Support Teacher and Vice Principal in Fort McMurray until She holds a bachelor s degree in English/Criminology and Sociology from St.Thomas University and an Education degree from Crandall University, New Brunswick and has been working towards a Masters degree. Upon changing districts and moving to beautiful Calgary, Kelli has spent time in Grade 4-6 classrooms and taught Physical Education to K-6 students for the first time this year. She is very excited to return to the junior high/high school classroom to share her passion of literacy, music, and theater. Kelli has a strong literacy and student services team background. She spent two summers learning under Carolanne Tomlinson and has delved into various areas of research and implementation in her Learning Coach role. She is thrilled to be able to support and work with students to help foster independence and knowledge, create a sense of community and a love for learning. Congratulations! Congratulations! Wyatt Duval and Dale Sietzema are heading to Provincials in Lethbridge after winning the gold medal game with their Innisfail Phantoms Bantam 2 Lacrosse Team
