3 Grand Knight Robert Lee Ortega (805) Deputy Grand Knight David Morales (805) Good day Brother Knights, Wow, the month of May as come and gone! I'd like to start off by wishing all brothers who were born on the month of May a blessed and well celebrated birthday. For those who helped out in the kitchen on May 6th at council hall for a much needed fund raiser, thank you! It was to help out a youth program and our Br. Knights stepped in and cooked a pancake breakfast for them. On Tuesday, May 9th, was our Nomination Dinner Night. When all was said and done, the council supported the idea of the chair officers repeating again in their same positions. This is not the way the chairs are supposed to be ran, but we believe with the four officers in place, this will help return the correct lining and moving of the chairs. This is no guarantee that we will be elected but Election Dinner Night is June 13th and it would be great to see many Br. Knights come out and put your vote in for support. I want to say thank you to our Br. Knights and their wives that attended a special Mass for the 100th year anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima at Santa Clara Church on Saturday May 13th. It was under the request of Fr. Marco for us to be there and what a showing! The Mass was well attended and many flowers were given to Our Lady as our way of showing our love, devotion and admiration to Our Blessed Mother. To all Br. Knights, wishing and hoping you had a wonderful Mother's Day with moms, wives and/or daughters. To our Brothers whose Mothers have passed on to Our Lord, may your love and prayers be with them in Heaven. As we approach June, the last month of our Columbian Year, let us continue to support our Council for there is still much to do! Please continue to pray your Rosary daily, if possible, for Our Lady of Fatima has asked of us to do for world peace. God Bless us all and let us continue to work in Charity and Unity! While the hot weather may encourage a slower paced life, in many ways summer can be the busiest time of the year. Especially for parents with school-aged children. And being busy, it s easy to forget about such things as reviewing your life insurance coverage. Whether or not you have life insurance with the order, I ll be happy to meet with you and make sure your coverage continues to meet your needs and goals. If you ve had any life changes since you last bought a policy (new home, new child, new job, etc.) chances are your life insurance needs to be updated. I ll work with you to make sure you have the coverage you need at a price you can afford. Call me to set up an appointment. When we meet you ll discover that time spent with me is time well spent. Do you take an active role in your Church? Do you attend with your family in prayer? Actually, a Yes to either question is great! But again, how about an active role? Ever thought about serving as an usher or Eucharist Minister? Maybe a calling to be a Deacon? Pray on it. The next time you are at Church, look around. I m sure you will see an active member of Council 750 participating one way or another. If you don't, maybe it s time to step forward. In either case, be ready! You never know when you will be asked to help as an usher or to bring up the Gifts. Remember, always wear your membership badge so all parishioners know You Are A Knight Of Columbus, Council 750. Many great leaders of the Roman Empire made it their life work to bury one another and that's all they did! They all wanted the empire to last forever. It never happened and yet in a mystical way it did. The Holy Roman Empire replaced the pagan Roman Empire and it will last till the end of the world. The Catholic Church has survived for over two thousand years and counting. We Catholics have the great responsibility of continuing that tradition forward. Are we learning and teaching the treasures of our faith to our family and friends and to the whole world? Do we know the great work that the Church is doing all over the world and are we an active part of it? Or do we sit back and let the secular world dictate to us what the church is doing. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will last forever. Do we repeat the words of the world or do repeat the words of the Gospels? This month of June there is a very important celebration for us. The birthday of the Holy Roman Catholic Church is on Sunday June 4th and we call it Pentecost Sunday. On this day the infant church received the overwhelming and powerful Baptism of the Holy Spirit upon each one there in the upper room. This Baptism of the Holy Spirit continues to this day. We receive it at our one and only Baptism. We receive it at our one and only Confirmation. We can receive it as many times as necessary to complete the work and will of our Lord. As if that weren't enough, we have Trinity Sunday on the following Sunday the 11th. Have you ever tried to explain the Trinity of God to anyone ever? Try it, will you? And if that isn't enough, we have Corpus Christi Sunday coming up on the 18th of this month. Do we know the meaning of Transubstantiation and do our families know? What goes into your mouth won't hurt you but what comes out of your mouth can cast you into hell! Finally the last Sunday of the month allows us to catch our second breath and slide back into Ordinary Time on the Church Calendar. In conclusion, Pentecost is Gods outward sign of his inward love for us. Jesus said He came into world to start a fire and wished the whole world was burning already. Are we on fire for the things of God or are we on fire for the things of the world? "The flame of love is burning bright and soon the flame will die, and oh my love the time will come to kiss and say goodbye, The flame burned bright and oh so fast. It never had a chance to last.
