TO Gubernatoral Canddate Says the Only Serous Queston In Publc Mnd Is Whether All Republcans, Includng Certan Leaders, Wll Gve Ther Whole- Hearted Support To Wnner. On Wednesday last, say Senator Whtney, canddate.for the gubernatoral nomnaton, I read n the press a pergonal letter from one good Republcan to another on the subject of avalable canddates n our party for the gubernatoral nomnaton at the. forthcomng prmares. Whle I fully apprecate the mportance of any.get-together' movement and also the underlyng purpose of ths suggeston, I must confess th a t I am not at all pessmstc a t the present outlook'. Unfortunately the proposed plan for harnony does not harmohze wth the drect prmary law n whch law the procedure for selectng party canddates s found. No such harmony effort was made last year. So fa r as I am concerned there can be no compromse now before the prmary electon.* Wll Leaders Stand Pat? A prmary contest n tself should not cause any grave concern. Qute the contrary, I beleve t to be a healthy sgn. The only serous queston n the publc mnd s whether all the members of the Republcan party ncludng certan leaders wll gve ther wholehearted support to the vctorous canddate, for the nomnaton. I have already pledged myself on several publc occasons durng the present campagn, and do now reterate, that. I shall support the Republcan nomnee for Governor whoever s chosen by the people on June 16 next. I should lke to hear, and I'ra th e r thnk that the rank and fle of the party would welcome, smlar declaratons from my opponents. - : I yeld to no one n my allegance 'to the Republcan party and sncerely hope for ts trumph at all tmes.
